  1. But there is your answer. The FJ/Tracer leans toward the sport side of Sport Tourer. There are many other touring and adventure bikes that offer shaft drives. To turn the FJ/Tracer into a shaft bike would be a travesty, IMO.
  2. But at 20k+ a year, your so niche that no manufacture will would ever produce to that market, at least in 2021.
  3. I had a great New Years day ride with my two kids and a friend.
  4. Anything collected during the winter just stays in the box 'till April or so when things are a bit warmer. Here in Northern MN we've actually had a very mild winter so far with temps in the low 30's all this week which is way above average. With the warmer temps, I did log some garage time this weekend, albeit with snowmobiles. Someday I'll have a heated garage with a bonus man cave upstairs...
  5. Nice job, that is like showroom clean! I pride myself on a clean bike.
  6. Anybody know if these FJ Shogun sliders would work on a Tracer?
  7. There is a nice write up including part numbers and websites here. For the back I used the the Motodynamic Fender Eliminator and Integrated Tail Light.
  8. I went with the Super Tenere blinkers. I believe these are now also the stock blinkers on the 2021 Tracer as they should have been all along! Perfect fit and goes well with the bike.
  9. I have the smaller 39L Yamaha top case but also carry a passenger on day trips. When carrying a passenger, generally all three bags are full. In that case, it's just common sense, and you take it easy. I'm sure Yamaha's disclaimer is purely for liability reasons. The GT is a great bike even in its stock form. When loaded up, adjust the suspension accordingly, turn on some traction control and put the bike in B mode. Otherwise, quickly ditch the bags , no traction control with A mode and the ride the bike like a raped ape.
  10. I've only been to the Key West once, 21 years ago on my honeymoon. I remember all the seafood being fresh and delicious. including the conch. Would love to ride a motorcycle down that ways.
  11. Crab cakes are good but I would have done the shrimp something if I'm going to be in Key Largo... 🦀
  12. What bothers me about the new bike is that after two years they killed off the 2019/2020 Tracer/GT. There will be no aftermarket for these bikes beyond what is currently available and developed, and to a large degree, what is in stock. Prior to my 2019 GT I owned a 2000 Vmax for 18 years. What you wanted to do the bike was only limited by your imagination. This was from a bike that was in continuous production for like 30 years. It was amazing that after it's discontinuation, how quickly new after-market dried up. Bummer.
  13. The seat looks pretty flat. Other then the bags, I like the look of the bike. I bought my 2019 GT in October 2018. A 2 year run will kill any aftermarket for the current tracers. That's kind of a bummer.
  14. I wipe down my Blurple wheels probably once a week during the summer. A few squirts of Honda Spray Polish and a rag. It's a labor of love.
  15. I once got a <expensive> speeding ticket doing 110mph on a bike. As the trooper was writing the ticket, it started pouring <cats and dog> rain. The trooper was pretty cool and asked if I wanted to sit in the car. At that point it didn't matter, so I just stood in the rain and took my punishment.
  16. You and I live in two different universes🙃 135mph is really f#@k'n fast for me. I hit 130 on my V-Max and had a tank slapper and have never seen more then 110mph since.
  17. The GT bike comes with a fully adjustable suspension and for factory is pretty good. I have no intentions to upgrade mine. The seat slope still sucks.
  18. I reckon as far as Texas goes that may be a high vantage point. Since I received three inches of snow today, I say move forward with the next challenge. I'm probably out unless it involves something snow related.
  19. For factory it's a good seat, but damn the slope is killer. I used two washers under the tank and rubber washers I had for the seat. The metal washers were just a bit over 2 16ths and the rubber washers just under 4 16ths When I first took the bike out, I was thinking, well this kinda sucks, there is no change. But it's a subtle change. After a longer ride, I realized there was no discomfort. And as others have state, it also allows you to sit further back on the seat. I'm running out of riding for this year, so I think I'll try it next year and then decide on getting an Terry Adcox seta.
  20. I changed mine because blinker pumpkins are that ugly. Second only to the cancerous tumor that hangs off the back of every new bike, they were the first to go.
  21. The number one question I'm asked about my Tracer is "how many apples can you get in that 39L top case". Turns out the answer is a heaping bushel along with two pears. Cortland Apples from Bayfield WI. The Cortland Apple is known for it's crisp, juicy, sweet-tart flavor.
  22. I have both the grip puppies and larger pegs. I just like a bigger grip and the Grip Puppies are an easy and economical way to do it, plus you get the added benefit of reduced vibration, which is not really an issue on this bike. For pegs, I went with the Super Tenre pegs (and blinkers). There are cheaper options if you look around here. Like the grips, vibration wasn't an issue, but I like the feeling of the larger peg.
  23. Transformed the bike from Sport Tourer to Ghetto Blaster. Using my Fiio X3ii DAP (not pictured), I could really blast the tunes, much to everyone's delight I'm sure.
  24. Next photo challenge A picture from a high vantage point, overlooking a body of water. Bonus points given for fall colors. Duluth, MN.
  25. Ol' Number 225. At it's retirement in 1961, #225 had hauled 44 million tons of iron ore from the Iron Range of Northern MN, traveling almost 800,000 miles. I hope you all appreciate this picture, because when I left this morning the temp was 38F. However temps quickly warmed up to a balmy 45F, so I did a little ride around town to take in some of the fall colors. This leads to the next challenge. Number 225 Steam powered Locomotive. Proctor MN.
