15FJ. Usually when I hit 180 miles on trip odo, I find a gas station and put in about 3.8 gals. Yesterday when I hit 180 miles, I sputtered to the side of the road. Limped it to a gas station and put in 4.3 gallons. The only thing that I can think that was different was the 2 previous rides were in pretty heavy winds. Is that the cause? Fill up after a 165 mile ride today was back to normal so no engine issues.

Think this is a fairly common mod. I did it with the cheap China pegs and I sometimes worry that one will break off when far from home and will have to find a place for my foot. Maybe will put the OE pegs in my tool bag for a possible roadside repair.

Are these pandemic prices? Or are low mileage bikes premium priced? In 2019, I paid $3300 for a 2015 FJ with 40k miles. Been flawless.

$95 a year. Pays for other guy's damage and to scrape my bike off the road and toss in a dumpster.

I think it does help you be a better rider if you start when you are young and confident. As a young (stupid) teen, I would wait for rain then jump my Suzuki 100cc across a ditch, intentionally lay it down, and slide across the wet grass. Maybe I was at the forefront of the Jackass craze!

Ahhhh....Thanks for the memories of the Yamaha Radian....my first street bike to learn on....oh so many years ago. I took the MSF safety course on it. A great first bike, even though kinda small for a 6'1" rider like me. Was such a cool bike that I sold it several years later for the same $600 price I bought it for. Now I see one on Cycle Trader for $8000. The ole "wish I still had....."

Since I don't do a lot of cold weather riding in Houston, I didn't see a compelling reason to go lithium so for a high-rated budget battery, I went with Mighty Max. The YTZ12S fits and has more CCAs and aH. Can't remember....you either add or delete the spacer. $32 on Amazon. A bunch of 5-star reviews.

I first look at AirBnB anywhere i go. 20 bucks a night for private room and bath at a Pigeon Forge condo a couple years ago. Not as much fun riding the Tail of the Dragon in a Nissan rental car from the Atlanta airport.

I bought a 15 FJ 40k miles a couple years ago. I am at the point where I want to address the on-off twitchy throttle. I asked the second owner if he had any flash done. He said NO and didn't know if the first owner had anything done. I went to Yamaha service today and asked if they can hook up and look at it to see if any changes were done. He looked up VIN and said there is no longer a "code 90" for my bike....think that is where Yam does fixes as a warranty. He said he would have to attach a laptop and have YAM download a PDF without knowing if he could do anything on the throttle. ?? I know nothing about it and am asking what the options are.....aftermarket tuner? Taking bike to dealer? EDIT: Just realized I am in GT.....let me know if I need to do a thread in FJ section.

The YouTube red head lifting up that bagger is cute. But it is at maybe 45 degrees....propped half way up on the side cases. She puts her butt on a seat that is a couple feet off the ground. Think there would have to be a different technique if the bike is laying flat on its side.

So the first thing you are supposed to do after you lay your bike down is to start pulling all your gear off? I haven't dropped one yet and want to know the etiquette.....my plan is to upright the bike and get it off the road....before pulling gloves and helmet like those in these vids are doing.

I don't get it. You are so concerned about the exact tightening of a drain plug that you use a torque wrench.....then don't bother to check the torque of the drain plug that comes "pre-installed" on a new pan??

Me and two buddies trailered our bikes 30 hours straight from Houston to Laguna for the MotoGP many years ago. We opened up the trailer doors and only MY bike was laid over with cracked bodywork and a chunk of windscreen laying on the floor. Let's just say I wasn't the one who strapped down the bikes. Don't want to do that again! Have fun.

Nice. Was looking into a PCH 1 trip and saw it is closed due to landslides around Big Sur. Guess you were able to avoid that? For others, if tent camping at the North Rim and can book enough in advance, the National Park campground has dozen tent-only sites that are literally 20 feet from the rim. Beautiful. Was afraid I would sleep walk and drop off the edge.
