  1. Bike will be ready this saturday! Now the existential question, do I ride it home or hassle with loading it up into the truck? Lots of salt on the roads but it does look like it will be above freezing, 30 min ride home....
  2. Accessories I let pass, I can live without them. But a goddamn tps sensor that you can't buy separate from the throttle bodies, electronics modules, mounting hardware, microswitches... all NLA. Effff that bike. I had to ebay from the UK that entire bike to get it up to snuff.
  3. I looked really hard at another triumph before pulling the trigger on the tracer. Ultimately it came down to parts availability. When my 2012 triumph started to need some love and I started to throw parts at it, so many were NLA. I couldn't believe how a 7 year old bike could have such a lack of OEM support.
  4. 100% agree on the color in person. I was even going as far to get quote on painting the panels until I saw it in person.
  5. Do you have the AIS system disabled or blocked off? I only ask because this is an issue with triumphs and blued pipes, when dumping fresh air into the exhaust to help complete the burn of access fuel for emissions, it causes additional heat build up in the header. Thus blue pipes. Maybe these engines just burn that hot but something to think about.
  6. One can only watch so many review videos before the wife's nagging sets in.
  7. Sealed the deal this weekend. 11.7k USD + tax, title, license. Now we play the waiting game, sounds like they'll get delivery at the warehouse early march, then it's a matter of bugging them to ship I guess but with my down payment that usually helps speed it up a little.
  8. We went through this with our local european car club. We had hundreds of daily visitors. When the facebook/instagram crowd came up to the age of owning cars, the forum died. They were more interested in likes and shares than actual content. Very few and far between wanted to learn or contribute. The old timers, 30's crowd got bored and slowly filtered away. Such a shame with the knowledge and willingness our club had to help the young kids at a local level.
  9. The only problem I've had in the past is reluctance and lackadaisical service IF I didn't buy the bike at the location for the warranty work. That was many moons ago, now I do my own stunts.
  10. You would think it would be more efficient to open the coil vs sinking the excess? What's the reason to do this on a modern bike?
  11. Well i mean, who's to say if they aren't using a setup circuit and sacrificing some amperage, but I don't think that's worth their money/effort. Agreed but can't assume.
  12. From horse's mouth. A diode rectifier can't output more voltage, but a transistor certainly can, and I assume they are just using an off the shelf shindengen mosfet rec/reg.
  13. Well i'm almost into a 2020 tracer gt. Just going back and forth with numbers and maybe toss in some accessories. Bike should be coming in towards the end of the month!
  14. Service manual says stator outputs 14.0VAC, 29.6 A @ 5k rpm. The rectifier outputs 14.3-14.7 VDC with a capacity of 50A, but that's it's capacity rating, not actual output. I would guess then based on the stator, you have a total of 38amps at 12 VDC to play around with minus the OEM draw whatever that is.
  15. Geeze I didn't know. My dealer wants 14,500 out the door. About 1k is tax/registration, 500 in dealer fee's. I don't know if I want to risk trying to find one later in the season.
  16. And just like that, my dealer has a 2020 on the way. Is buying in the spring ill advised? Seems like I'm wasting 4 months of warranty if i pick up in February.
  17. Good day, Looking to get into my first real bike. I've been slowly working my way towards to a street bike of sorts but thought I should get the cruiser mentality out of my head once and for all. Grew up on the dirtbike and thumpers graduated to middle weight cruisers where I've stuck for quite some time. Now it's time to to jump to a dedicated street bike for commuting and comfort. I'll be buying a 2020 GT this spring and can't wait much longer. I swear I've sat on the non gt version at my dealership for at least a good hour at this point waiting for the snow to subside. Just waiting for the GT to come in. Anyhow some previous rides because who doesn't like pictures:
  18. I feel bad that I didn't go to the show, somehow I had confused this show with a different crappy one I went to last year. Really wanted to see the 2020 GT in person. No one in the twin cities has one in stock at the moment.
