  1. Bumping this thread. I had a line on a local chap slinging michelin road 5's for $400 installed out of his garage. Sounded good so I took the wheels off and headed over. He had a 180/55 rear tire in hand, looked at me, looked at my old tire, went back and swapped it for a 190/55. He said it would suit me better. Not sure what that means but no rubbing issues and no concerns. Yeah the tire turns in better, but all new tires do. I don't know, seems fine to me, happy new tire day!
  2. Yeah I think you're going to have to take a picture. That's not making sense, the maintenance is simply a counter from last reset, nothing more. I'm not aware or have ran into any flashing maintenance notification.
  3. Grip Puppies and mirror extensions: New tires and valve stems tonight:
  4. Cheapest of the cheap mods proof of concept. Clutch is faster and there is minimal additional pull resistance. With the added benefit of being able to have the clutch release right off the bars, and yet still have full disengagement. I'm almost tempted to go a tad shorter but that would require a different spring solution that I'm not interested in dealing with.
  5. Time to fix the long friction zone on this bike. By my napkin math, I'm looking at ~ 12 degree increase in total throw going from 4cm to 3cm shift arm radius. We'll see how much harder this makes the clutch to pull but I don't feel it will be an issue.
  6. Made it to 5k. OEM tires are shot, rear is bald down the middle, front is scalloped bad, chain is getting clunky.
  7. Wait, do you measure your chain hot or cold?
  8. I've always just stated with a cold bike, opened the radiator cap and filled as needed after starting. Is there a different way?
  9. Mine was ALMOST too tight with the stock chain. I was cutting it close. I think I have the axle all the way forward and i'm about 40mm of play. I honestly can't give a decent review on the change yet, with the wife in tow.
  10. +2 in the rear because racecar, wait I mean motorcycle, sorry I'm new to this two wheel speed thing.
  11. Yes, on each tb. I doubt its far off this early in the game anyhow.
  12. @denveryzf were your tb's off by much? I checked mine at 2k and they were spot on from the factory.
  13. Ah, yeah you'd have to use open maps or something of the like for back road satellite view. I do that with gpx pro.
  14. Cache your google maps. I do my entire state so I always have maps offline if need be.
  15. As a 7 year vet of tech support, have you updated your firmware on the cardo and garmin? Next, are you sure this isn't a feature not a bug?
  16. Almost sounds like your headers expanding/adjusting due to heat.
  17. Oh boy, I just passed 4.5k and the oem tires rapidly loosing it. Getting quite a rumble in the steering. Fair amount of tread left, but the rear is pretty square.
  18. Yeah there should have been a rubber plug thats a place holder. Thats the recommended stock location for the optional heated seat IIRC. Most toss a usb/volt display there.
  19. I think you're turning an unfair eye to the changes in motorcycles due to emissions over the years. Maybe take look at today's automobiles for reference. A 2020 F150 has only a 4" narrower and much longer wheel base than an original Hummer H1. Not because they want to, but because emissions is based upon wheelbase. Heavy 8-10 speed transmissions? Not because it's better, but emissions. Start/stop technology that burns through starters like candy? Emissions. Dropping fuel to cylinders that cause all sorts of issues across all brands, yep emissions. I really miss mini trucks, you know the ones that got 40 mpg and could haul a full sheet of plywood? Dead due to EPA. Sure there are some positives that come out of it, like well, less emissions (depends on how the EPA measures it). The high uptake of turbos, but with this comes carbon build up from weeping valve seals, less reliability due to higher possibility of vac leaks, higher engine temps. Then you have electric cars coming up faster, batteries are getting better (although at the expense of mining), but with that comes increasing dependence on dealer only diagnostic software. We could end up like John Deere did, with no one being able to even swap minor parts without the dealers computer and blessing. If you really don't believe that emissions are taking a toll on modern motorcycling, I guess that's your right. There are people who believe that Elvis is still a alive and that the earth is flat. I say live and let live, but when you start personally attacking others, that's where even the most tolerant draw the line. Not everyone dies a saint, and some need an express lane to get there.
  20. I concur with @johnmark101 The tune isn't about hp, all driveability. I can see why someone would be let down if they spent 1.5k on a full exhaust and a tune for 7-10 hp if they are chasing dyno numbers.
  21. Just rolled over 4k, did a section called the twisty 60. It's not much but it's really all we got around here, drinking and farming, farming and drinking. No records set, lots of bears on the road for some reason. 4 hours straight and 200 miles is about all my body can take without stopping.
  22. I would have done it before taking delivery if that was an option.
