  1. Now that I think about it if they did write me a ticket they wrote the speed to less than 20 over if they caught me at 20 over or a little over that.
  2. Let me just say it's not like they nailed me at 120 MPH. These are like 15 MPH over the speed limit, maybe 20.
  3. I am using the stock bolts. They are plenty long enough.
  4. I pull over to a safe spot as soon as I can. Turn the bike off, stay on it, and wait for the officer to approach me. When he starts talking I explain I have ear plugs in and need to take them out. When he says okay I take the helmet off and the ear plugs out. Then it's license, insurance, and registration. I explain I need to get under the seat to get the registration and insurance card. When he gives the go ahead I do it. Basically, I tell him/her everything I need to do and wait for the officer's okay.
  5. A lot, but mostly they let me go or just wrote me a warning. I'm very polite and respectful. Only a few times I've had to pay a fine.
  6. It'll get to 100 MPH damn quick, too. It's fast enough for me, and I came off a Gen II FZ1.
  7. I have the Givi V40NA 40LTR monokey topcase. I think it's a good compromise between not being too big and functionality.
  8. Took a ride today. It's not the solution, but it is better. What I think may be an all day solution would be the Air Hawk with the slope mod.
  9. I bought the Motoparty wind deflector from Amazon. It works well (for me), on the stock windshield! I can ride with the visor up on my helmet at 75 plus MPH. Ear plugs not needed. I can hear the engine. Minimal buffeting at speed. I didn't find any excessive vibration of the stock windshield at high speeds. I'm 6'0 with a 32 inseam and I like the seat in the low position. It's obviously a knock off of the MRA shield, for a $100 less. It has good reviews. Approved and recommended by yours truly. The above was achieved through the stock windshield on high setting, the wind deflector on its highest setting, and the seat in the low position. https://www.amazon.com/Motoparty-Adjustable-Windshield-Windscreen-windscreen/dp/B07L59965N
  10. I wasn't comfortable ordering them online because I couldn't find a site that sold them reliably differentiated by color here in Canada. Yeah, same issue here in the US. I'll have to stop by my dealer.
  11. BTW if you made the zeros as large as the g I think it would look like 900 rather than goo.
  12. What are the part number(s) to ensure you're getting a black cowling?
  13. I've had this helmet for less than a year. I was happy with it until the sun visor lever broke. I'm going to attempt to make one.
  14. Here's my version. I found these electrical rubber grommets while poking around the hardware store. Super glue just happens to bond rubber nicely, so I glued the grommets to the front rubber stoppers on the seat. I took off the rubber stoppers on the back of the seat and put some Alien Tape on there for a little cushion. To shim the rear of the gas tank I used a nylon washer and one stainless steel washer, about the same thickness as the grommets. I have yet to try it out, but it feels better just sitting on it. I can easily adjust from the low position to the high position. The bottom pic is what it looks like in the low setting after the mods.
  15. Love my TourMaster Rincon. Tour Master Rincon Jacket | Rider Magazine Review and test of the Tour Master Rincon Jacket from Rider...
  16. Yuh that's one nut that's useful.
  17. I'm totally happy with my TourMaster Rincon jacket. Too bad they don't make it anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ Tour Master Rincon Jacket | Rider Magazine Review and test of the Tour Master Rincon Jacket from Rider... 18. My first oil change I used a K&N KN-204. My second oil change I used a Wix 51358. They're both black with some lettering that looks cool. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  19. I've had the oil light come on twice. Both times just after an oil change (2nd time was just this morning on the way to work) and both times on a chilly morning. It was 46 degrees this morning. Each time I filled it up until there's only a small bubble in the sight glass. Both times I've used Shell Rotella T6 15W40. The 15W is good down to 30 degrees (per owner's manual), so I don't see how viscosity has anything to do with it. The first time it totally freaked me out. Pulled off to the side of the road, shut the bike off, checked the oil level, listened for bad sounds with a lump in my throat, and so on. Nothing, of course, so I started it back up and went on my merry way. It never came on again until this morning. Again I pulled over, shut the bike off, checked the sight glass. All was good. Restarted and the light was off. A little further down the road it came on again, flicked on and off a few times then stayed off. Okay, uck fit. I'm chalking it up to a finicky light and I'm not going to worry about it anymore. However, I do worry about the boy who cried wolf. Yamaha should address this issue.
  20. I'm so glad I found this thread. The seat turns what I know is a great motorcycle into something that's not very fun to ride. An air hawk helps, but only delays the time to excessive monkey butt. I'm going to try this mod first before I spend on an aftermarket seat. I'll let folks know how my experience goes. Thinking about cutting down those rubber bumpers on the back of the seat rather than replacing them with something else.
