  1. Yep, just ordered very similar from amazon. I had the side panels apart. I tried various rubber washers, bits of plastic milk bottle with a hole cut in, but nada. Thanks very much for that though.
  2. Just fitted the Booster Plug. What a nightmare getting that front panelling off, I thought I was going to cry at one point. Managed to get the broken indicator back in place a bit better, but I couldn't find any plastic to make replacement spacers (ordered some from the amazon) so it isn't great. but it will do for a few days. Slapped it all back together, got to the last bolt (top front of radiator sort of area) , and there was a big brass spring threaded thing lying on the ground. BAH! I will take it apart and together again tomorrow, enough frustration for one day. Checked the temp gauge, and it was reading 23c before, and 2c after. Bike fired up fine, and the tickover sounded smoother, but I'll test it properly tomorrow. Noticed the clutch is dragging a wee bit, so I'll sort that out tomorrow as well.
  3. I'm on Dunlop Sportsmax front and rear. Done 2000 miles on them. Running 32/36 pressures, but I get zero feedback from them. They have also started getting wiggly on road seams, white lines etc. I like to be able to feel what my tyres are doing, and these seem to be too solid or something, I can't feel anything. They haven't let go or anything, but I feel like I am not properly connected to the road (if that makes sense) Not my choice of manufacturer for tyres , ever.
  4. same. If their parents are around , I tell them no problem if they lift them on (with the bike on the centresand) , otherwise they are going to get a proper nasty burn or pancaked into the tarmac.
  5. I think it is broken. I'll look tomorrow, I canny be bothered today. I'm tired and dehydrated. All my bike gear was soaking with sweat, so it's all been through the washing machine and hanging out to dry now I need to strip the bike a bit anyway to plug in that booster thingy
  6. The only thing I can think is someone has let their kids sit on the bike, and one of them has stood on it. It was totally hanging there. As you say, it could have been worse. Years ago I left college, went to the car park to get the bike and it was lying on it's side
  7. Had a lovely ride out, around lots of really twisty roads, working on my roadcraft, and trying to work on my chicken strips a wee bit as well. Roasting hot (for Scotland at least). Parked the bike, went for a wee walk to cool down, and came back to find my front left indicator hanging off the bike. Somebody must have whacked it deliberately, because there was no other damage to the bike. Fortunately, I had some electricians tape, and was able to tape it in place enough to get home. Super annoyed. I mean, why do folk do things like that?
  8. It was a motocross CR250 , that I converted to run lights and a horn and a wee bicycle digital speedometer, so it was road legal. I had a huge clarke tank on it as well, cos I used to ride it to enduro races, race, then ride it home again Only trouble was I had pure knobblies on it, and had it geared to the point where it would max out at around 65-70mph. I loved that bike. It was a stealth bike, yamaha front mudguard etc so nobody could ever work out what it was. I've a photo somewhere I think. MoT is every 12 months, from when the vehicle hits 3 yrs old.
  9. As it should be. I've no issue with rational testing, but I've had a fail for surface rust on 2 bolts before, and my verbal for stickers on my windshield. Thats what gets me mad. If there is something unsafe with my bike, dodgy bearings or whatever, that I am unaware of, I'd rather know.
  10. Cheers. I assumed they were, since the car does. I'm sure it won't be too long though My brother in law is an mot inspecter/tester, and he keeps me up to date on a lot of the insanity and hoops that the testers have to jump through. And he would never pass a vehicle that wasn't a proper pass. Did you know that DVSA can turn up unannounced at any mot test station and demand any vehicle that has been passed be re-tested, to check the testers are not at it?
  11. When I lived down near Mansfield, there was a famous mot place, known as 'the blind man of Bolsover', where you could be guaranteed a pass if you were able to ride the bike there. And when I lived near Watford, there was a place that we'd wait till it rained, and park the bikes outside. The guy would pass them without them every having moved, since he couldn't be bothered going outside in the rain. Ahhh, the good old days.
  12. I mean, obviously a new wheel would be the safest option, but if you've ridden it like that for a while, and no deflation, then tapping it in might give you some reassurance. Also, is there any way you could fit a mousse or a tube , that would give you additional peace of mind maybe?
  13. Put a cloth over the bent out bit, and start tapping it with a heavy hammer.
  14. You would be amazed at the regulations for the annual test here then. Noise, emissions, headlight height blah blah blah, it is a nerve wracking experience. Even if the bike/car is too dirty, they can refuse to test it. I had a verbal warning for having stickers on my windshield one year, and was told 'windshields are for seeing through'. What, on a vstrom? No thanks.
  15. I have no idea, but I'm like that about almost every rule/regulation/law nowadays. I'm serious, I was so nervous riding the CR back for it's re-test, with all this bodged on, shaking around , chrome chainguard flapping in the breeze. (obviously it was off and in the bin once I was round the corner with my pass certificate. The latest thing has been sneakily changing lots of the 60mph limits down to 50mph, with no warning. I think it's just a way to catch more people unexpectedly, thus collecting lots of lovely cash from fining them
  16. Not sure what your laws are there, but here, I'd be failed on my annual MOT test (roadworthiness sort of test) for no chainguard. One particularly petty tester a few years back failed my CR250 Enduro bike for no chainguard, so I had to make one out of bits of bracketry and an old gs suzuki chainguard, the bike was utterly dangerous with it all wobblying around, but passed.
  17. I've got that same bash plate. It's a ton weight, eh Got it shipped over to the UK. Most solid bash plate ever. Got it from , was it, narcolepsyjunkie on stromtrooper I think?
  18. Super cool and friendly and helpful on here, as you'll find out. Gratsies on the new bike.
  19. Something like this? .... https://www.fastbikebits.com/product/3394/yamaha-mt-09-fz-09-seat-cowl
  20. Woohoo, that sounds like a brilliant ride. I know the West of Scotland so well. I am headed up to Largs to see my mum tomorrow, and now you've got me thinking, should I just whack the tent on the back of the bike and carry on up and do a wee run round the Trossachs and up to Pitlochry and over and down again Have a brilliant time, and take lots of photos!
  21. I'd say that sums it up. You could get it checked properly, and it might be just a bent bracket or bars or something. BUT It's going to be at the back of your mind. I'd either offer stupidly low money for it, or find another (but that's just me)
  22. Where you planning to go?
  23. Looks good. You can change the rider pegs to ones with rubber on top, which would help with any vibes through your feet. And a radiator guard would be a good investment.
