Anyway.... I was dead against the idea of the Niken, until my mum (83 and much wiser than me) suddenly hit me with a truth bomb and said, if you got too stiff to put your leg down at lights, or ended up disabled, would you rather drive a car or a bike like the Niken. Game set and match to my mum. I would have a test ride on one, but I have spent all I own on my Tracer, so if I loved it I would be sitting in a pool of tears. Enjoy every mile, and keep the photos coming, we all love bike photos.

Congratulations. And you were able to get the one in the fastest colours as well ! Now you are about to spend lots and lots of money on your bike. I love mine, and there are so many shiny things to treat it to.

Welcome aboard. Now the spending really begins I just had my 24000 mile service done, the 'BIG' service. And it cost less than the minimum you've been quoted for the first service. There is a Haynes manual available for a lot less than that printed service manual, that would cover most of the things on your model, other than the front end I would imagine. Enjoy every mile.

Oh, I also discovered that in 3rd gear, my Tracer will do at least 105mph, possibly a little more before the limiter, but I ran out of road. (errm , not road, track of course, I meant track officer)

Some gorgeous views as usual from your rides. I'm always most impressed by how smooth your road surfaces are compared to here. Just out of interest, on that mahoosively long straight section, what would the legal speed limit be?

agreed. Keep it nice and loose. I barely have my fingers fully round the bars. The minute you tighten up, every tiny move is exaggerated, and things start to feel really horrible. It is counter-intuitive, but a 'must' learn.

I hope she likes it. You could rig up some lights on the back of it , or reflective tape. It would then be doubly useful.

Be advised, you are about to melt your wallet lavishing shiny things on your Tracer (GT or not!)

I just did 150 miles , mostly motorway (70mph speed limit) , in pouring rain and strong winds. The bike was rock solid following/passing lorries , and that is with a puig touring screen on. I was doing between 70 and 90 (obviously I was never doing over 70mph officer) and the bike was perfect. Maybe the wobbly ones have a squared off tyre tire) or something that might make things a bit skittery.

I'll be on familiar twisty roads tomorrow, and it's supposed to be dry, so I should get to work on getting used to it. It's ridiculously different, but in a good way

I know, right! I was hoping it would mibbe be a bit less hard work on big potholes, but riding it home (in pouring rain and fog and all sorts, for 150 miles or so) it suddenly dawned on me it was like a magic carpet ride, super smooth. I could really feel the rear tyre, where before I thought the tyre was terrible, but it wasn't the tyre! I genuinely need to get used to it all over again now, it is so much smoother turning, quicker turning, and , well , you know already. I'm preaching to the converted. Cheers @texscottyd , and if you ever fancy a couple of weeks riding round Scotland, grab a flight and you can borrow it, any time.

I'm staking a whole 50 pence (cents) that it's tyre (tire) valve related.

Well lads and lassies. I am just home from visiting my neighbours south of the border, and getting the suspension done All I can say is W O W ! I need to learn how to ride the bike all over again now. It is transformed.

Hiya, and welcome to the helpful and friendly forum. I just got my 24000 mile service done on my 2015 09 and the valves etc were all fine. There is one user with over 200,000 miles on his. It is pretty renowned for the reliability of the engine. Bear in mind that people often only post on forums when they have an issue, and are not representative of the majority. You can find every make/model of bike a horrific piece of junk if you read the problems sections on their forums And 1k miles is barely run in yet.

Spray a load of wd40 into the inside of the indicator switch with the wee straw and work the switch for a wee bit, that might clean it up.

I'd crash from watching it all the time If you are still unsure about it you could switch the 2 valve bits around of course, but I'd put money on it giving the same results. Of course, you could do a 100 yard stoppie and see if the front gets hotter while the rear cools down!

I don't have such things. But it is logical that the rear would be hotter than the front, it is doing more work, pushing you forward.

Hehehehe, I hope so. There are some roads that I don't enjoy on the bike, too many bumpy bits for the stock suspension and my skinny bod, and that NEEDS to change I haven't enjoyed riding a bike so much in ages, I forgot how much it can make my face hurt from grinning. I was even thinking today about getting it painted in classic Kenny Roberts yellow with the black and white checks. Man, my poor wee wallet is melting.
