  1. The weight of the FJ was a big attraction to me. Having not ridden in many years till recently, my balance skills and short legs were a concern.
  2. This guy mentions around 40deg's... Niken leans against the MT-09
  3. Stock Niken weighs in at 580 lbs (263 kg) where as the GL1800 is 787lbs (357kg).
  4. I wonder if the number of Niken's will increase for the tour year after year or if it is just a fad? And how do you say it Nike N or Nick N?
  5. To start use the most conservative throttle and TCS modes to prevent unwanted wheelies. B mode for throttle and TCS 2 on (traction control system)..... have fun. πŸ˜€
  6. I wonder if you could look at the Vin number range. Last six numbers of the Vin go from 000001 to ? Edit... Ooops just seen this was discussed earlier.
  7. I see the Niken seat height is about an inch lower than the FJ-09. I searched Yamaha parts and found no lowering links for it. How does the Niken compare to the FJ-09 and are there any lowering options for us short legged guys? Is the extra weight that noticeable lugging it around the garage?
  8. Interesting to see at 1:30 on the video one front wheel goes over a bump while the other stays on the ground. What is the max height difference possible for the two front wheels of the Niken when going over bumps?
  9. Well that's embarrassing, mine was in the 'tool kit' also. Never even looked inside as I had my own tool kit already set up. So happy I can gain that extra 23.67 horsepower now. 🀭
  10. Nice video. I'd be more comfortable riding a trail like that on my mountain bicycle.
  11. Give it time 😁. Maybe it's because I have a grand total of 653 miles on my bike. Almost 200 of that went on yesterday before the weather took a turn, it's snowing today. πŸ‘
  12. Can we see a pic of the back with the wires etc. I added PowerBronze handguard extenders to my FJ and would consider a project like yours. Nice Job! The pic shows the stock and replacement PowerBronze handguards. I now have more real estate to work with. ☺️
  13. As was stated earlier... 900 and FJ-09 seats are not transferable. Pic of Corbin seats for comparison, left is 900 and right is FJ-09.
  14. Picked up the Hella Improved Loud sound Signature Red Grill Horn Set similar to PFJohns above. Will paint them to match my blue purple '17. Trying to figure out the wiring and whether or not the supplied relay will be needed. Can the stock horn wire provide enough oomph for the Dual Horns?
  15. I've got one securing my battery. None came for my tool kit, it just sits in the space. I do see the fastener points though. Now I'm wondering what else I'm missing? 😐
  16. 50deg out today so I took a short ride up Montage Mountain after fitting some PowerBronze hand guards. May have to paint them to match the beak. Pic shows the replacement part next to the stock hand guard. Easy install. Nearly froze my digits off last week while riding in the low 30's wearing a pair of Alpinestars Andes Touring Gloves, which are touted as being windproof. Hoping the larger hand guards will help.
  17. After looking at the pillion box under #3 in the Yamaha Link in my previous post, I lost interest. Very little storage. The base may be good to have if you could build on it?
  18. Here is a shot of the front emergency light brackets. I wonder if the pillion seat storage box would fit the FJ-09? Yamaha link
  19. Hey that's not fair. I was already interested in your turn signals, now I have to consider the tail light as well. πŸ˜€
  20. I have a Fumoto engine oil drain valve on my truck and love it. Add a hose to direct oil to your container and no mess. Don't see an option for our bike? EZ Oil Drain Valve Fumoto
  21. Been down that road. The panel retainers are best worked on when warm. They will break apart in the cold. Top panel retainer in pic is the one that comes with the bike and is reusable. Turn head slightly with a philips screwdriver to pop it open and just pull out. Lower panel retainer in pic is an acceptable single use replacement. Dorman item 963-026D. You will have to trim the top off as it is a little long. Available at Advance Auto etc. Or bring the old one to the store and match to what they have on display.
  22. I can understand them wanting it back so they can look at the failure. I hope a new one is coming your way in the mean time. I added the T-Rex lowering kit which is great but the adjustable side stand they sent me is not as sturdy as the OEM. I asked a neighbor with a welder to shorten the stock stand by one inch. He said he will have to remove the hook for the spring and re-apply after cut and weld is complete.
