  1. Added an $19 eBay magnetic tank bag. Really like the SW Motech EVO but don't like the price. I've got FJR panniers on back so don't need much in the way of storage up front. Side magnets worked but the front and rear ones didn't sit on metal. I removed the front and rear magnets from their velcro compartments and doubled up the magnets in the side compartments. Placed a magnet pad from an old car dash mounted phone holder I had in the junk drawer on the lower center of the bag rear and it is rock solid when riding. Added some zipper pulls for ease of use with gloves and a velcro strap that goes to the handle bar for extra security. For reference my phone in the clear pocket is a HTC 10 which measures 6" tall by 3 1/8" wide. The pocket below that one holds an E-Z pass transponder. Purchased from sunnypurchase on ebay for $19 including shipping and took about 12 days for delivery. Total Investment $20 🙂 Black Motorcycle Motor 1680D Waterproof Nylon Tank Bag Back Seat Storage Bag. 2. Hey Nevada72, nice work. Should you decide to make some more brackets I am interested. I have FJR bags on the stock holders but would like the option to mount the Moose Racing Adventure Panniers I picked up on closeout, for those longer adventures.
  3. Added the T-Rex lowering link to my '17 FJ and felt much more comfortable, with the balls of my feet on the ground as opposed to being on my toes. The T-Rex link is solid and well made. Picked up a pair of CALTO G6252 Zipper High-Top Biker Boots which are supposed to add 3.3". I think it is closer to 2" but they got me flat-footed and more stable. It was recommended to go one size down with those boots but I had to return them for a bigger size due to my wide feet. I did change to an adjustable side stand which is not as solid as the stock one. I may shorten the stock side stand and re-use it. Center stand needs a little more down pressure but works fine. I'm the least aggressive rider you will come across so I don't expect issues with bottoming out. For example... currently my mpg's are reading 59.7 😊
  4. I've got the best job. Helicopter EMS pilot working the PA, NJ, NY, DE areas with infrequent flights into Washington DC. The plan is to continue to keep the flying as boring as possible and get my thrills on the FJ 😁
  5. You Tube along with the shop manual (which you can download for free) is the way to go. Here is the spark plug change...
  6. I bought some FJR1300 side bags online that came locked without keys. Found a you tube video on how to pick the locks. Took maybe 3 minutes to get into each. Bought the re-key kit from Yamaha and rekeyed the case locks to match my ignition. Not that hard once you understand how the pins in the tumbler work. This video is for BMW but same process.
  7. Nice tale. Did you have to secure (tie down) your bike on the ferry or was it stable enough?
  8. Can you take a pic of your mod? No FB here either. Thanks.

  12. I was able to easily re-key my side bags to match the ignition by watching a you tube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFoke2TS1O8 Here is a thread that discusses that.. https://www.tracer900.net/topic/1362-how-to-key-side-cases-locks-to-the-ignition-key/?tab=comments#comment-14288 I would like to trade some of the tumblers / wafers if anyone else has a need. I have extra numbers 1,3 &6's. I need some numbers 2's. I have.... 4 extra number 1's, 6 extra number 3's and 3 extra number 4's. I need.... 6 number 2's. I also have a motor cycle helmet lock with two keys to trade for the number 2's or some miscellaneous parts from the 3 camlock set part number 5P5-28406-01 I've got cash too 😐 Send me a message through this forum if interested.
  13. Decided to go with the beak but wanted to match the Blurple color of my 2017. I had purchased the paint some time back and was trying to build up the courage to paint a set of FJR 1300 side bags I picked up on ebay real cheap. After this beak project I am ready 😁 Purchased the beak from uniestocker on ebay for $16 and free shipping. Purchased the paint from ColorRite. Get paint here... Spent $80 and got the 'Aerosol Complete Repair Package' that includes primer, OEM color paint and clear coat with enough left to do my panniers later. Scuffed up the beak with a piece of brown fine scotch-brite and used grease and wax cleaner I already had to pre clean. Three coats of primer with 15 minutes between coats. Waited 45 minutes and did 3 coats of paint with 30 minutes between coats. After 45 minutes 2 coats of clear with 30 minutes between coats. Used a tack cloth between coats to clean dust etc. Here is the progress....
  14. Disregard the horn speaker location. Turn your horn so the terminals line up with those in the pic and you will have your answer.
