  1. yeah, you got to search within the site for the manual you want. I did it for you... FJ-09 2015-2017 Service Shop Repair Manual
  2. In this video Bret talks about bar risers around the 6 minute mark... 9 mistakes riders make
  3. Only $30 for the FJ-09 and $40 for the 900 service manual. Click the link and search for Yamaha or whatever model you like. Service Manual
  4. I got some Yamaha FJR1300 cases off ebay that were the same color as my FJ-09, added the Yamaha mounting brackets and I was set. Saved a bunch of money because they had a few scuffs. When the bags are off there is not much to see in the way of hardware. I may respray the cases someday but for now I'm not bothered. If you get bags that are not Yamaha, you will have to get mounting hardware/frame from the same manufacturer as the panniers. Some have made there own and saved a bunch of cash. Do a search of this forum for 'side cases' to see. Home mades...
  5. Buy the OBD2 scanner and connector online to clear the codes yourself. I got a check engine light after adding McCruise and this fixed it for me in about 20 seconds. OBD2 Scanner and lead
  6. Do tell us more about the garage door opener model and installation?
  7. Not having much time riding I'm not confident enough in the kickstand holding either. This girl gives a good rundown on the options, I'd like to be able to master the step up as the bike is moving.
  8. After adding a bag to the rear of my seat I had a harder time getting on and off the bike (with my short inseam). Thinking I need to do some stretches 😗 Elsewhere I saw a recommendation to mount from the right side by stepping on the right peg with the side stand down. Anyone try it or have a better technique?
  9. I was looking for an easy way to attach/detatch my Cortech bag to the rear of the seat. Found these ball stretch bungie cords at Harbor Freight for $2.99. Not that I would trust them at 70mph but they helped proof of concept. Now looking for a source of quality ball stretch bungie cords. Ball Stretch Cord Set
  10. The connector to plug it into has a dummy plug on it and it is behind the windshield. Just takes a few minutes to access with removal of windshield hardware. Look back at page one of this thread for pics.
  11. Is the tape under the fuel tank also reflective? I don't see that as part of the many wheel reflective tape kits sold online. I may just purchase a roll of black reflective tape (or blurple to match my '17) from which I could do the wheels and under the tank. Tape with applicator
  12. Thanks Ride365 I ordered the black with the Yamaha logo, plus the side decals also. Side Bag Decals
  13. Where did you get the reflective decals? Checkout the AATS Turn Signals from 12oClock Labs. Nice product and good customer service... AATS
  14. Plasti-Dip is your friend... Plasti-Dipped panels
  15. I chickened out in the end and just stuck it next to the switch. If it wasn't going to fit perfect I wouldn't have been able to look at it. I 'm hoping to find aux light switches for the blanks. I used tape on the spare switch assembly but put black silicone on my actual install to keep it in place.
  16. Finally got the McCruise installed and programmed today. The directions are perfect step by step. If you can do a jig saw puzzle you can do this, believe me. I got the expected check engine light on the 2017, but had bought an OBD2 scan tool and the four pin adapter to connect to the diagnostics port next to the battery, Cleared the code in 10 seconds. Test ride went perfect, spent 15 minutes on the highway and Wow unbelievable.
  17. Under the headlight is a connector with a green wire for the low beam and a yellow for the high beam. Anymore I can't tell you. I would like to do the same so I will be following this thread.
  18. Thanks Rovari, My horn does not work till the key is turned on, it did on my old bike so that confused me. The dual Hella horns are loud, my sons says they are going to encourage people to knock me down to get some quiet 😁 The signals came with Yamaha connectors so they plugged in where the pumpkins used to. I needed power for the running light portion and the blue wire didn't work. Not sure why? The Fuzeblocks took care of that.
  19. Today I finished up most of my farkles. GPS mount, Hella Horns and 12O'ClockLabs AATS front and rear turn signals/running lights. I used a positap on the blue wire going to the tail and my rear turn signals would not work. I moved it over to the yellow wire (brake lights) and the turn signals worked when brake was pulled, which told me I had done something right. I noticed that there is a different wire going to the license plate light and wonder if that is the one I should have tapped? I ended up powering the rear turn signals from my Fuzeblocks and all works well. In my pic the yellow wire from the fuzeblocks becomes a black wire with a fuse that is tapped to the blue tail wire. Should the horn work with the key turned off? Next I must get some gas and program my McCruise.
  20. Tell us about those AUX lights you have between the mirror set?
  21. I'm sure you would agree that is the best color FJ. I wasn't sure at first but it has grown on me.
  22. I wear a skull cap under my flight and riding helmets and it really helps with perspiration. Real cheap option is the HEAT-OUT Cool'R Helmet Liner.
  23. Thanks Roadrash The pic above was first attempt at mounting, I did move them higher later. BTW....How many inches is full compression, 6"? I'm more concerned about the electrical. The wiring harness came with an inline 30amp fuse. I put a 15amp in the fuzeblocks after I read this... The amperage draw of these horns is a combined 11 amps. Should the 15amp fuse be adequate? The horns come with straps. I bent these straps and bundled a couple together to mount the horns to. There is two bolts on top of the fork securing a wiring mount bracket.... that now holds the horns on too.
  24. I used a company called T-Rex Racing for my lowering links and an adjustable side stand on my '17 FJ-09. After a while I had a local guy shorten my stock side stand by 1.5" and had it powder-coated. The T-rex side stand was fine but I didn't like depending on the adjustable bolt. Center stand works fine with no adjustment needed. Congrats on the Tracer.
