The longer clutch arm smooths out and lengthens the friction zone of the clutch…..it is worth the $15.00 and ten easy minute install to try out.
lather
I will order one of those. Thanks!
duckie
FYI…….the longer clutch arm does two things……increases lever travel to fully disengage the clutch and reduces lever effort. The difference in length between the two determines how much lever travel increases and how much effort is change. I would try adjustable levers if available for your model.
lather
I looked at the clutch section in the shop manual, it includes a paragraph on cable adjustment at the clutch end with a range of 47.1 to 54.8 mm. i just measured mine and it is 53 mm. I am thinking that shortening this cable length to say 48 mm should improve the late engagement. UPDATE and CORRECTION. When I started to make the adjustment I realized my thinking was wrong. Shortening the cable will have the opposite effect. However if someone elses setting is on the short side setting it closure to 54 mm should help. duckie
I ride a 19 900gt. I put Puig adjustable levers on it. The start and stop points of the clutch engagement/disengagement start/stop points can be moved back and forth from the bar without effecting the pull/release distance of the clutch engagement/disengagement start/stop points. Clear as mud…..right. The function of the clutch requires one point where disengagement or engagement starts and one point where full disengagement or full engagement stops. This is the enagament pull/release distance. These start/stop points are determine by design of the various clutch components. The lever arm is one of them. Change the length of the arm, change the distance between the start/stop points of the enagement/disengagement distance. Adjustable levers have no effect on the distance between the start/stop points of the engagement/disengagement distance. They just adjust the distance the start/stop points of the engagement/disengagement distance are from the bar. Adjustable length is nice. Each lever length can be adjusted as needed. My clutch lever is shorter than my brake cause I can plus a shoter clutch lever works better for me. And Puig has various color combos options of the lever components. Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted July 6, 2023 Premium Member Share Posted July 6, 2023 These are great, better with rubber lever sleeves but length still adjustable; and they pivot up in case of a tipover. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175311464923?hash=item28d160a9db:g:ER0AAOSwP95g8SY~&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAABMKHM5q8z8Pm62fEaZ2vKAR8wdUKar3MEgnB13O05SiqxZVAQCqmepttyDy6zaHjitEmhQ86K0FWs2BhkEWpxzDczLAQlFBwo5UfQDqLKWj7ZBLb6JQdtcj2TD8DKbxOImrm56olR4R0x4mc0lLhbqYy%2FBnEMiBXInMR%2ByUyTbDuyPEbWIDYU7eHB%2B9NzY%2FWDiweK3DWoOHElM5YbuM0v8AEAt9NKE%2Fy7OqnX%2BVmQ8oahp4kKR8TOKA5NB%2FzQ0WhPePjVZIBFPnm7ZGOWcEMtKc8f2Bti7Ogj47o6Vie1ckz32ox6ZajP1keDof%2BJl69Nv97bWukGQJixr2OxkC5bnuwpIAiT7h6YiIOp%2FelKA9OFTMfXfZgCOPqn3GTyAK43FGYtHQcGzqj6YlynKLTXEwc%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR-qpoY2hYg&var=474536446135 https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/lever-grips https://www.ebay.com/itm/144316559200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/232447766274?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D251364%26meid%3D2a2972b0ebc7485eb5c2b046ea6395a7%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D11%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D304566318893%26itm%3D232447766274%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithLambda85KnnRecallV1V2ItemNrtInQueryAndCassiniVisualRankerAndBertRecallWithVMEV3&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A2324477662742a2972b0ebc7485eb5c2b046ea6395a7|enc%3AAQAIAAABQCvNJCDpv8JKJ0xCukMH3s3gkAge2ftmvQmk3emJy7HZz57DQyZhCi3sdmDXb%2FmJl8zlPrPXQXGqXP%2FEJhR6e8rmDiP6tDLHxtY%2BhBSmo16s%2Bpuaej%2FxG3tRxSXQgj3PwnVLqQhxpNbltd%2Fo%2Bp69BfAu3LGbVCvMebZszrzVlV2XaOLaBXm0jZzbTeb5W5FEM3MrIk8PctMfgUue8XysLLPzuikkoqbjduQWqr0Ygz9z8ZCs3aFbZx6SnaDFYVfvoJhJjLrQNkCsE7DR3UqqZZV09SjTUhdWD%2BdMPCDWgLYz89Yk5QjvckfPolhhLJB%2BHOLSSrmttao0%2FEQKVanDQvItQ6IyvmgSkpajyzlm6k5BnFgYxzBcqGE%2BlEsekRKFG117zXbxlH4oR7lwVrx4oXjtqvL6blJ8nIGMHbMEPm%2Fn|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2047675&epid=2175641623

Have had them for a few years now and agree that they are great value for money and go some way to help with the OPs 'complaint' about lever pull distance.
