What brand of aftermarket seat are you running?

Recommended Posts

So i am a new member and FJ-09 owner. I just picked up low mileage new to me 2016 FJ-09 Raven yesterday. I rode it all afternoon and put 160 miles on it. I must tell you that i love the bike but the stock seat is garbage so i am already looking into aftermarket options. Yamaha has their own line of comfort seats i see but it looks like it is purchased as a pair. The FJ is not going to be a 2-up rider for me so i do not need to upgrade the passenger seat. I see that Corbin makes a full one piece seat, i've had corbins on all my Buell's and they are nice. Sargent looks like a good option because it can be purchased as a front only for around $300. I had a Saddleman gel seat on my Buell 1125R and loved it but it does not look like Saddleman offers a seat for the FJ-09 yet. Please bounce your opinions at me on what your favorite seat is.

2019 Tracer 900 GT. 2022 MT-09SP. 2002 Buell S3T Thunderbolt. 2016 FJ-09 SOLD. 2019 XSR900 SOLD.

I know you're new and all...but the search function will be your friend. Seats have been beaten to death on the forum. There is probably 15+ threads on this topic. Enjoy the bike.

I also picked up my FJ on Saturday.  Luckily the bike came with a Corbin seat.  I did a few hours of riding right after I got it and it was great.  I was comfortable the entire time and never felt like I needed to get off the bike to give my ass a break.  I got the stock seat as well but I threw them straight in the garage.  The only bad thing I can say about the Corbin is that it might not work well for short people, though I'm only 5'9 and don't have a problem with the seat height.

Corbin. In July I rode from Indiana to Colorado, all side roads. Over 1,200 miles in less than 24 hours. On the return trip I detoured down to the Smokey Mountains. Over 1,300 miles in less than 24 hours. No soreness. I can literally sit on this saddle all day.

to be honest I've found the stock seat to be pretty good.  My previous bike was a Triumph Tiger Explorer and on that I had the Triumph Gel/heated seat and that was still uncomfortable after 100 miles or so.

Saddlemen will custom make a seat for FJ-09 even though they don't have a production seat.
I have a seat on order from Sargent. They have a standard seat or a custom option. Easy to deal with

My reply was to the OP because he had mentioned the Saddlemen seat just to let him know the option is available to him should he want to stay with the brand he already liked.

Thank you all for your input. I have had Corbins on other bikes and currently have one on my Buell Thunderbolt. Aeg- thank you for letting me know about the saddleman option. I sent them an email and will wait for their reply. The only thing about that is the gel does absorb heat.

Ray88- congrats on your FJ, so far after this past saturday's ride i love mine (well except for the seat!) It's probably hands down the most FUN bike i've ever ridden. I had no idea that a smaller displacement engine could be so much fun.

Kernowjim- I had an older Triumph Tiger 1050 that i had the Triumph comfort gel seat. I know what you mean, it was a mediocre upgrade at best.

I must say that the Sargent seat has caught my interest at this point. It's nice that a front one can be ordered as the FJ is my FUN bike and not a 2-up rider. The price tag is much less than a corbin as well. A friend of mine has a Sargent on his BMW K-1200S and really likes it.

Sargent. 2 years. Two cross country trips. Numerous 600, 700, 800 mile days. A saddle sore 1000 and bun burner 1500 (as soon as I hear back from them). 30,000 total miles in this saddle. Completely satisfied and I would buy it again.

Let’s go Brandon

I have a Corbin. If I had to do it over again, I would NOT purchase a Corbin. Not because of comfort but because of the terrible the support. They send you a seat that may or may not fit. Then tell you to tell THEM how to make it fit.  Then they make excuses for not answering your emails for weeks.
