fj09newbie
not sure if this should go here or in the pics/videos section so feel free to move. I did search and didn't find a thread like this, so if I am duplicating I do apologize. I am looking for alternatives(less expensive) than gopro. I am hoping some of you use no name action cameras and like them enough to share them here.

nicksta43
I've got an Activeon CX Gold. It's not 4K but I think the quality is excellent for the $40 I paid for it. You'll find it for much higher than that but if you look around you can find them dirt cheap. We got ours through Kohl's online. You can see my video in the video and pictures section. bowlin01
@fj09newbie here is some footage from the EVO DX at 1080p, obviously not GoPro standard, but for a £24.99 camera I think it's great. Cheers Steve
foxtrot722
I have a interest in this too, but what I am after is a camera that can record all day incase of a accident. if it is a 3 hour loop or something like that, that would not matter. I would prefer to mount on the bike. the other problem would be the power supply, most have a charging connection, but it is not accessible when mounted in the weather proof case. Guess what I am after is a camera that can be powered to record all the time on a 300 mile ride and retain the past few hours of video. There is a review of the Halocam on this forum. It is a dashcam rather than an action cam and it is designed specifically for motorcycle use. It has both front and rear cameras. The number of hours of recording scales with the size of the SD card that you install. It will record much more than 3 hours and then it loops back and writes over the oldest video. I installed one on my FJ-09. I haven't fiddled with it much but I have verified that it works. I was able to upload some video to my phone after some idiot nearly ran over me. I had to pull off the road and brake hard to avoid a collision when he turned left in front of me and he kept going like he never saw me. The Halocam recorded the event. It has a wide field of view so you have to get close to be able to read a license plate even with HD recording. 2015 red FJ-09: Cal Sci screen, Sargent seat, ECU flash, slider combo, cruise, Rizoma bars, Matts forks, JRi shock, slipper clutch

stumpy
I use a couple of sjcams for snowmobiling and they work well. They use all the gopro mounts so you can find just about any type of mount possible. I got mine through amazon and there are tons of reviews on them. They can take the abuse of the way I ride a snowmobile so they must be pretty good. I'm not up on the latest cameras because mine are 2-3 years old but check out their website and the youtube reviews, lots of info there. daboo
I've been using the Halocam M1 for awhile. I like it. It's not action camera quality, but does a decent job. I've also had the Sena 10C and now the Sena 10C Pro. They are excellent. Costly though. There is no other combination action camera and bluetooth headset made. And the Sena 10C (Pro too) can be used while charging...in the rain. I just saw a thread on ADVRider where someone is selling three Sena 10C cameras. Good price. For sale - Sena 10c | Adventure Rider ADVRIDER.COM I am getting rid of some spares. I have one Sena 10c left for sale in great shape. Includes instructions, Mount, and unit. It needs the speaker and... Chris
