  1. I couldn't agree more. To this day, I still carry a screwdriver with me when I ride.
  2. I don't want to feel like I put out some bogus info for everyone. The only difference I can think of is I'm using the Tenere switchgear with their custom wiring harness.
  3. If the CC is engaged and I roll on the throttle from a fixed setting, then there can be a slight hesitation to accelerate but not a huge hesitation. And like you mentioned with braking, it definitely upsets the chassis when the CC is disengaged so I hold the throttle steady and thumb the power switch off.
  4. Send an email to Tony and ask about it. Maybe there is a new version control unit? Mine is 3 years old, I assume its their original unit. I don't know if the Tenere switchgear would make any difference with the +/- 5mph feature?
  5. If you talk to him, tell him his services are in demand, if he focused his attention to only building forks he could do very well.
  6. Only one thing left to do now, plan a 350 mile route that ends very close to a gas station. 👍
  7. So, you have taken it out for a shake-down ride? How did everything work out for you?
  8. @BrianG - Very well written, simple and understandable. Thank you!
  9. Does that mean they do not have Reb. and Comp. adjustability? Personally, I do NOT like the idea of non-adjustability. Even though I have custom built suspension with the base-line settings set up by a suspension tuner, I still have fine tuned mine many times to get it perfect for me.
  10. 2 years ago my brother, along with a childhood friend and myself got together for a week-long roadtrip from Washington through Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. We all live apart now, so getting our schedules to sync up and be able to spend a week together riding was quite memorable. We rode through SE Washington, NE Oregon, Rattlesnake Grade, Lolo Pass, Beartooth Pass, Cody/Bighorn Mountains, Tensleep Canyon, Teton Mountains, Stanley/Sawtooth Idaho. Good Times. Awesome riding.
  11. Honda CB-F Concept Debuts with Retro-Modern Flare - Asphalt & Rubber What is old is new again. Don't believe us? Then take a look at the latest... Classic design with a few updates. What do you think? I would like to see a retro-modern update on the Honda V65 Magna and Nighthawk 700. 😎👍
  12. So it should just be a matter of shortening the spacer until your desired sag measurement is achieved. If you really had to compress everything tightly to get it assembled then I can understand why it would feel too harsh.
  13. OK, that makes sense, yes, the spacer will pre-load the spring. Did the stock cartridge use a spacer? If there was a spacer, was the spring compressed the same amount?
  14. Re-reading through this whole thread again, it doesn't seem to be making sense. According to the spring rate calculators, for your weight you should be using .80-.85kg/mm fork springs, so the .75kg/mm springs that you have installed 'should' be too soft, giving you too much sag. You mentioned previously that you had the preload all the way backed off and only achieving 26-28mm sag. How are you getting so little sag measurement with zero spring preload using springs that should be too soft? This is really throwing me off.
  15. I agree, I'm not a fan of the styling. For a smaller hooligan machine, I'm looking forward to the Aprilia Tuono 660. Aprilia Tuono 660 "Concept" Fools No One At EICMA 2019 Concepts don't have passenger pegs.
  16. The more models available, the better and what they are offering for under $12k is impressive. Just like Kawasaki upped their game with a lot of their 2020 models, I hope that motivates Yamaha to think outside the box and push the envelope in the next 5 years.
  17. I was looking at the specs on that, 120hp/73lb.ft torque @ 366 lbs A few months ago a moto journalist commented that he wasn't sure that KTM needed this bike as the 790 had such a good power to weight ratio and was ridiculous fun. More is better, right?
  18. Were you able to dial out some of the compression damping? or were they harsh regardless? I'm curious if K-Tech components are focused more for sport riding?
  19. OK, maybe I'm missing something here but where are the index marks on the adjuster that lines up with the notch on the swingarm?
  20. Yeah, I was skeptical but it really seems to work well.
  21. New tires and new suspension... its a good day indeed! 😎👍
  22. @skipperT - Using the Sonic Springs Calculator and the Race Tech Calculator it sounds like 0.85kg/mm 'should' be the correct fork springs for your weight. Race Tech offers 0.80kg/mm as their lightest spring. Race Tech lists the stock fork spring rate as 0.70kg/mm, I don't know if they are progressive or straight rate (you can tell by looking at them) but if they are straight rate, you could put the light spring on the compression leg... just thinking out loud here...
  23. Knowing the range - Reb 0-32 and Comp 0-28 is good info to have, it looks like you have yours set about halfway and still gives a 'firmish' ride. @skipperT that might be something to consider, K-Tech might have more restrictive valving and needs to be opened more than usual to lessen the damping effect. Making only one setting at a time, start with the compression circuit on the shock. Turn the adjuster fully closed to 0 - clockwise. Open it up -counter clockwise- 25 clicks and ride it and see if it is too plush for you and then you could add +5 (to 20) clicks out to feel the difference. If you have your compression circuit almost fully open and it is still harsh then you might need to consider having them re-do the shim stack valving.
