  1. It's interesting that you found it definitely louder. I too rode with and without earplugs, I was actually hoping it might be just a tad louder but I couldn't tell even a little difference. 🤷‍♀️ Oh well, the bike runs great as is, so I'm leaving it alone. I have never ridden with the baffle completely out but might try it one day just out of curiosity to see how it affects the fueling.
  2. This format is much easier to read. 2020 BMW F 900 R & F 900 XR Review - Cycle News 2020 BMW F 900 R & F 900 XR Review | The 2020 BMW F 900 R and F 900...
  3. I actually like a lot about the 900XR but agree with @daboo the reviews I have read mention the harsh suspension and it is NON-ADJUSTABLE😲, not to mention the less power and less character than the CP3 motor.
  4. If you don't like the sound you could JB Weld a coin of the appropriate size to the back side of the baffle. Did you ride it out on the road? What was your impression after drilling the holes?
  5. Those BMW lights are pretty cool, auto leveling for pitch and roll and turning to see through corners would be really effective. But I have no need or desire to ride at night so for me it would be wasted technology. I say go for whatever solution that works for your situation. Make it as bright as needed for cornering.
  6. Like a lot of things in the manual - DISREGARD and use common sense instead. I have never used a torque wrench on the axle nut.
  7. But you actually have cheap gas, we have one of the highest gas tax in the nation. Even with the recent price drop we still have many stations that are over $3.00 for regular. 😲 I haven't seen $3.00 in years, its like a liquidation sale, I filled all of the vehicles at the 'bargain' price.
  8. True, not being able to road test it makes it difficult to evaluate and get set up. At least you have an adjustment range on the compression circuit now, even if you have to open it up to the lower end of the adjustment range.
  9. Washington State Governor extended the 'stay at home' order until early May. Sadly the only thing I did to my bike was hook it back up to the battery tender... 😢
  10. I'm not sure why the lights would be aimed up at all, especially enough to blind oncoming traffic. When people add auxiliary lights they usually aim them down a bit to illuminate the pavement in front of them. The lights usually have a wide enough spread, (even a spot beam) that it will illuminate an area wider than the bike but you could always aim them outward a few degrees if needed.
  11. You could open the compression valve fully counter clock wise, take it for a ride and then adjust from there.
  12. @mkvgti - I like those engine guards, they aren't obtrusive like every other brand I have seen. What is the big rectangle piece on the bottom of each side?
  13. I'm not against lighting at all, I just feel that lean angle lighting is more of a marketing gimmick than anything else. I dont think lean angle lighting works any better or worse than 'always on' running lights, but it does have a 'cool' factor that looks attractive on a sales brochure. Just my opinion.
  14. No, I don't ride at night. I have full time DRL's but those are only so other drivers can see me better. Varying opinions on the lean angle lights from different bike reviews I have read, some say they are fine on left hand turns but others complain on tight right turns as they are too bright reflecting off the brush and other objects to the point of being distracting. YMMV.
  15. The advanced bikes have an IMU which measures lean angle. Oddly enough Yamaha added a basic IMU to the FJR only for the cornering lights but every other bike on the planet uses an IMU for advanced cornering TC and ABS. 🤷‍♀️
  16. I personally don't like that feature on bikes like the FJR or Versys, it seems to be a gimmick at best, if I had it I would try to undo it and just make them simple DRL's.
  17. Yamaha MT-09 Tracer Genuine GPS Stay Holder Bracket 2015 MT-09 Tracer. This might work for you. it is the -10 part number.
  18. On this bike I upgraded everything at once, the springs came with the cartridges. On my previous FZ1 I did everything incrementally, I bought it with stock suspension and then upgraded the springs front and rear, then eventually upgraded to R1 components (popular mod on the Gen II FZ1) and inevitably upgraded the springs... Then... I bought a Penske shock and had the R1 forks professionally revalved. Every step was a vast improvement, the heavier springs greatly help eliminate brake dive and shock squat. After the final step, the bike was PHENOMENAL, there were times I would charge through a corner at +25mph over the speed limit giggling like a madman in my helmet. Unfortunately, a few days after finally getting it perfected, I hit a deer and totaled the bike. At least I was able to strip the bike and resell the parts before sending it to salvage.
  19. @dazzler24 - when you remove the orm lights with the rubber base, you will need an adapter plate to mount the new ones. Yamaha Turn Signal Adapter Spacers for Aftermarket In Hole Stalk Type Indicators These fill the hole left behind when removing the factory turn signals...
  20. ROCKYMOUNTAINATVMC also sells oem parts and arguably has the most user friendly parts fiche available. All of the parts on the exploded view are interactive, hover over them with your mouse and it will show you the part number, price, the amount that they have in stock, the quantity that you need for the given assembly and the link to add it directly to your cart. 👍
  21. @maximo - Glad you got it sorted out and are enjoying the bike even more now. 👍
  22. I weigh 230# and use either .95 or 1.0kg/mm fork springs (can't remember, its been 3 years) but I am using modified fork cartridges. Both legs have custom built rebound and compression circuits and adjustability. I have mine setup just soft enough to be comfortable yet taught enough to maintain composure and hold a line in the fast corners. Maybe somewhere between an FJR and an R1 if that makes sense.
  23. And while you are at it, get the correct springs for your weight. It makes a huge difference in the feel of the ride.
  24. I sure do like the Speed Triple RS. The Crystal White with red accents looks sharp... I just wish they would redesign the headlights.
  25. @dazzler24 I have tried several 'cheaper' LED turn signals over the years and have been disappointed with all of them, the saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly holds true. If you want BRIGHT, compact and indestructible, there is only one - X-Arc. X-Arc Lights - the brightest LED Brake lights, turn signals, tail lights
