  1. I love the Angel GT's and have worn through several sets but they have gone up in price very recently. I bought a set in September for $278, 6 weeks later the same online retailer has them for $309. Several other online retailers were similar, I will wait for Pirelli's Spring rebate to stock up. Since I wont ride too much over the winter I decided to try the Brigestone Battlax S21's @ just over $200 a set.
  2. Is there a written procedure for this modification? Sounds like a winner. There are several threads going over this procedure. Try Accelerator Position Sensor Adjustment If you need more info search: APS or Accelerator Position Sensor.
  3. I have posted this here before, but the heated grips along with the Tourmaster Synergy heated vest is a great combination. I have ridden in the low 30's (near 0c) and been toasty warm. I cant give these 2 items enough praise for extending my riding season. And... it has a HEATED COLLAR!!! 'nuff said.
  4. Today I adjusted the APS again for even smoother on/off fueling. A few months ago I changed it from the factory setting of 17 down to 14 and that was a dramatic difference. Since I had it torn apart to install the revised clutch cable, I thought "what the heck" and I adjusted it further from 14 down to 12. It had just finished raining but I wanted to see how smooth she was, I set it to A mode and tore around on some wet, slick streets and it felt like a more spirited B mode as far as on/off smoothness. VERY NICE! If you have a '15 or '16 its a FREE mod, you do however need access under the tank to adjust the APS. A word of warning if you have the MCCruise; if you adjust the APS you MUST re-calibrate your cruise, it WILL NOT work until you do, but then that only takes a few minutes to accomplish.
  5. That white sure does look nice!! D@mn, now I might need to spend more money on my bike...
  6. I'm still drooling over that ZRX!! I love that paint scheme even more than the more traditional Kawasaki green you usually see.
  7. I notice the exact same thing when fitting new tires, I recently put on new Pirelli Angel GT's and WOW, she feels smooth as butter. I didn't hate the OEM 222's, but found they were slipperier, at least in my experience, on painted lines and tar snakes. I had them slip on me more than once.
  8. I take it that's not recent. :-)No, it was taken before it closed due to wildfires. I wish I could have ridden it during the fall weather. Its a shame that its open such a short duration each year.
  9. Yes, they do. I have ridden in mid- 30's (the other morning it was 35 degrees when I left the hotel in John Day, Oregon) and I could only use level 5 before having to shut them off for a short period. Between the grips and the [a href=https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/871/33406/Tourmaster-Synergy-2.0-Electric-Motorcycle-Vest-Liner-with-Collar]Tourmaster Synergy heated vest [/a]riding in the 30's is nice and toasty.
  10. I dont want to derail the thread, but please share what kind of special concoction you use to achieve such MPG. Yesterday I was returning from a road trip and was riding a long straight highway back across the state, it was a beautiful Fall day with zero traffic, so I decided to take my time. I set the cruise control at 60mph and rode for a few hours purposely trying to see what my fuel consumption would be; 6th gear, mid 4k rpm's, almost zero elevation changes, riding like a little old lady and I barely got 50mpg. I have no intake or exhaust mods and just the standard 2WDW flash.
  11. I haven't had to twist my GPS power adapter, but I have had to press it in firmly to re-seat it. This only happens when I get to triple digits, its like the wind force actually pulls the power adapter out of the socket a few mm.
  12. On this matter, there appears to be a sort-of 'blank' or 'dummy' plug/ cap/ cover on the matching round hole on the rhs. What's this for? Does anyone use it - and if so for what may I ask? Thanks..That is for adding a 2nd 12v socket if you chose. Its an optional Yamaha accessory.
  13. Is it the camera angle, or will the rack support need to be disassembled anytime the wheel is removed?
  14. I just returned from a 6 day trip - 2855 miles, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. During the trip I achieved the 10,000 milestone, then 11,000 and 12,000... Leftover '15 is 9 months old.
  15. Why do you find it odd? It depends on where you ride... short shifting is a common way to change gears in city traffic, whether it's a car or a bike... or would you rather ride 1st gear at 6,000 rpm between lights? I think the OP is looking to calm things down in 1 and 2 for urban use. I guess its more of how you ride also, because whether its a car or bike, I dont short shift to third for city driving. I may end up in 3rd gear but I ride each gear out normally to get there. Around here, "city driving" is around 35mph, in 3rd gear I would consider that fairly low rpm's with stock gearing.
  16. I too like -1 tooth upfront, it gets it into the meat of the powerband easier. I personally think 6th is geared too high and I rarely use it unless I am motoring at 80+mph for a longer distance. I just got back from an 1,100 mile ride through various type of roads, interstates, state highways, mountain twisties 2-lane country roads etc and I only used 6th a handful of times. I find it odd that you feel 1st and 2nd are too short, you must normally keep the engine at fairly low rpm's. I feel like I can use them forever around town because they pull forever, even with a 15T front sprocket. I guess it all comes down to how a person likes to ride, some dont like getting up to 5,000 rpm, while I rarely ever ride below 5,000 rpm. BTW, I believe you can fit a 17T but definitely not an 18T in front.
  17. I discovered the exact same thing after adjusting the APS, the MCCruise was NOT happy! I had to return home and read through the setup instructions again. Live and learn.
  18. Have Dave point out the differences between rebound and compression adjusters.
  19. Just curious, why set the damping all the way closed? Put the bike in a tire chock, turn the adjusters fully closed and then press down on the handlebars or bounce the seat up and down and feel the effect. Maybe open 4-5 clicks from fully closed as a starting point then go for a test ride, and bring a straight slot screwdriver with you. As for rebound affecting compression, I will let Pattonme give you a professional answer.
  20. Think of the word damping as "resistance". CCW is less resistance felt and CW is more resistance felt. Give it a try, open your shock rebound fully CCW and press the seat a few times to feel the level of resistance, now fully close the rebound CW and bounce the seat to feel a dramatic change of resistance.
  21. Great news that you were able to get at least a partial resolution. I had a similar experience with Seat Concepts, I had a question prior to purchasing the standard foam and they never responded to my emails. My local Yamaha dealer is a Seat Concepts distributor so I had them purchase the foam and cover. When they finally shipped the cover it was obvious that one of the panels was stitched crooked as there was a large crease where the panels had bunched up in stitching. It was something that couldn't be stretched or steamed to be made to fit correctly. Seat Concepts claimed there was nothing wrong and insisted that the dealer ship the cover, foam and seat to them for inspection. A few weeks later the seat was returned with the cover installed and the panel had obviously been replaced since the bunched up panel was gone. However, Seat Concepts STILL insisted that there was nothing wrong with the original cover and it was the dealers installation error and charged them the installation fee. Their customer support and business practices are beyond terrible.
  22. Prepare to be enlightened. Caution - once you see the light, you will forever be spoiled and will never look at "lesser components" again. Not exaggerating, once you have ridden a bike specifically set up for YOU its all rainbows and unicorns... blissful MAGIC!
