  1. Hadn't been for a ride in a little while but went out today for a shortish jaunt. After a while musing about life, the Universe and the bigger picture, I got to thinking that something felt different about the bike but couldn't put my finger on it. What was it? It felt different... smoother! It was then that I realised/remembered that I'd done a throttle body sync while I had the tank off fitting my cruise control a couple of weeks ago. The readings at the bodies while close, did call for some adjustment and that seems to have made all the difference. It's been about 5000kms (~3000 miles) since I did the last one and they had evidently changed subtly and unnoticed over that time but had introduced just a tiny bit of vibration into the pegs and handlebar for me to notice it - when it was gone! Moral of the story is: - If you've never done or had done a throttle body sync, do yourself a favour and either get it done at your shop or buy one of the many (cheap) tools available You'll save yourself a few bucks by doing it yourself and you'll be rewarded with a 'new' bike feeling if those bodies were out of sync. The tool I have is the Irish made Morgan CarbTune device. Simple but effective.

  3. Ok, Ok.... Which one of you two (red bikers) was it?.. @betoney - @texscottyd 😲 Apologies to the OP.
  4. Thanks for that info. I use an older Tom Tom rider GPS and it's time for an update. The android Tom Tom app looks like it just might be the go?!
  5. Plus 1 (or should that be minus 1) on the X grip that I'm still using! One arm is right at the volume position and is VERY fiddly to avoid. Think I'll look at this Quadlock thingy as an alternative. Works well for you @jdavis ?
  6. That's a top photo looking through the gap in the rocks with the road winding off into the distance! Excellent. Where was that if I may ask? Also, I assume that you're using google maps/drive on your phone. How do you find it over using a GPS?
  7. @jdavis- How would you describe it compared to the OEM screen - wind/noise wise?
  8. @wordsmith - FWIW I purchased a set of GB racing clones ( 4 covers - clutch, timing, water pump and generator) from Kemimoto for a lot less. Haven't had the misfortune to 'test' them but they look and feel robust enough for what you are asking - a topple over for example which is exactly why I got mine. Here's the two RHS covers to give you an idea of how they look if that helps.
  9. Welcome home and I too am looking forward to your adventure write up.
  10. Got my new McCruise and have installed and tested it in the garage but not yet on the road - tomorrow hopefully. Thought I'd just mention that I was under the impression that the new cruise control was supplied with the new Bluetooth capability but it seems that it is in fact a separate hardware module that's still in development. So, sorry if I've unintentionally misled anyone who might have been interested in that functionality. My bad - as the youth of today would say.
  11. @coachluciano - I posted the dimensions of the Bagster seat over on the other thread as requested and have now just seen this post. If the seat you were looking for was definitely leather then I don't think Bagster seats have a leather option. I'm not 100% certain of that but a quick search for 'leather' on their site came up with a 'not found'. Just thought I'd mention it.
  12. Here you go. - Just to be clear this seat is for my 2015 Tracer.
  13. And to be honest, I tend to largely agree with you. As mentioned earlier, the version I thought I was buying was the same one as everyone else has got. And I was happy with that idea. I guess the key benefits I see (IMHO) with the new hardware are the ability to quickly download and update the firmware as new possibilities emerge, and the even finer control of the cruise speed. Tony said that he really liked the finer control ability while his brother Frank was happy with the current version and was not fussed. So like many things in life it sounds like it's a subjective thing. Using BING or HERE to control my speed?..... the jury is still out on that one for me. I'll have to give it a go though before passing judgement. 🙂 Hopefully won't have long to wait as Tony suggested that the back orders should start shipping this coming week beginning 21st Oct. Cheers
  14. @piotrek @betoney - Just got off the phone to Tony following up on my order and mentioned that there were questions as to whether the 'older' McCruises could be retrofitted and his answer was a qualified YES. After some discussion instead of me trying to deliver 2nd hand news that may not be entirely accurate I put it to him, due to the variables involved, that he might like to add something to the McCruise website to clarify the issue. He agreed but is fairly busy right now trying to satisfy back orders. I suggest keep checking the site or if you're really keen send an email with your specific questions. In his own words - "This is the part I like - talking to customers". From what I understand there were many older units that could be fitted with the new bluetooth module but of those some could be updated while others were read only. Don't quote me on that as there were a few if, buts and depends in there too. Stay tuned!
  15. @betoney - I ordered a McCruise a few weeks ago and was told that there was a backorder backlog and I assumed that I would be getting what everyone else had received in the past as there was no mention of any new hardware (to my recollection at least!) All of this new information about new hardware was totally unexpected and only came to my attention when @keithu mentioned it. I'm 'guessing' that I'll be getting one of these new devices. Not that I'm complaining of course. And you're right, if your version does what it was advertised to do and you're happy with it then it's happy days. I'll post if I find out any more on whether there's backwards compatibility.
  16. @betoney - I haven't spoken to Tony and the only info I have is what was written by Tony in his recent blog on the subject on 10th Oct. See my link above in the earlier post for the details. However it 'appears' by his words that it is new hardware and I can only 'assume' then that it's different from earlier versions.
  17. Here's some screen grabs of the new McCruise app. I like the idea of being able to get any new firmware that becomes available and update it directly via the app! There's even talk of the possibility of integrating a radar detector into this new hardware down the track according to Tony's blog!
  18. Here's the word from the horse's mouth (Tony Guymer) on all the latest revelations as mentioned by @keithu above. Key point: - Excellent!
  19. @wordsmith - well done. I must admit I thought by earlier forecasts that Sunday weather was going to be unkind but as it turns out - beautiful after the rain. Hope you had a good ride.
  20. Yes I know what you're saying and there is a school of thought that 'modulated' lights look a lot like emergency vehicles and can cause confusion to the uneducated masses and consequently have a negative affect. Have a look at this from the US. But also in regard to the pleece having their wrath incurred, there is this info that is after all, in law, for them to uphold. So as long as all of the criteria as stipulated is met of course. 🙂
  21. I wondered the same thing wordy so I went looking. Have a look at this to give you an idea of what a modulator does - go to 1:40 to see one in action.
  22. I haven't seen these in operation over here in Australia and so wasn't sure that they were in fact legal so I checked and at least in the state of Qld they are (if anyone from Aus was wondering)
  23. @flyfifer - slightly off topic but 61-0 - you'll know what I'm talking about! Go the thistle!
  24. Another great report as usual. It's always heartening when a business has great follow up service like this and doesn't just take your money and send you on your way never wishing to see you again. Two thumbs up for Ride Dynamics 👍👍. Glad you've found your 'sweet spot'.
  25. I'm liking what I see! Good tip and a few to choose from. Sometimes we need to look outside of the 'motorcycle box' (read expensive) to find equivalent stuff that will do the job equally as good, if not better.
