  1. That looks great in black! I have a 2017 as well and on the topbox topic I have 2 Givis that I change as required, my wife and I ride 2 up most of the time and always have the small box fitted.
  2. I have this Akrapovic full system, it's nice and quiet in the suburbs but is really loud when you wind it. I had to take the centre stand off but I don't miss it.
  3. Great pics, I was born in Dumfries but I can't remember when I was last there. Closest was in Annan in 1982.
  4. I used to use Castrol chain wax when I first got my Fazer, then I changed to Bel-Ray, right now I have a can of Superclean chain lubricant. It sticks like crazy and doesn't fling at all. I have a large piece of cardboard that goes between the chain and sprocket and the back wheel that I slide in when I spray the lube because it is a bitch to get the lube off the wheel. I'm a bit slack on chain maintenance, luckily I don't have to deal with a lot of the road crap that I read some of you others do. I got over 40,000km on the stock chain on my Fazer which I think is pretty good.
  5. What do you call super cold? I'm also in the southern hemisphere, we get an hour of snow every ten years on average and where I live, 26°08’S, 1,800 metres above sea level we get no rain at all from end of April to September. Other parts of the country have horrible cold wet winters and snow every year. It might drop below freezing at night but can get into the 20s C during the day in winter. Perfect for year round riding.
  6. We have had these in South Africa for many years, it's called a Lazy Lowder and I have used them dozens of times, it is the easiest trailer to load and super stable on the road. Can be towed at 80mph easily with zero sway. http://2mtrailers.co.za/ Here is my bike on one of these trailers, it is not in the middle because I went to a friend and loaded a ZX-12 on the left side.
  7. Great shine on the headers, are they stock? What do you clean them with?
  8. My R&G doesn't look anything like this, I have a 2017 and there is no way to fit the luggage with the flickers. This looks like a better solution.
  9. You mean the race spec, more safe and secure D rings.
  10. Speaking of ergonomics it grates me intensely that when the levers are perfectly aligned horizontally the mirror stalks are not at the same angle from vertical. WTF?
  11. I know it's easy, I'm British but the Yanks have no clue 🙈
  12. After watching countless American cooking shows I'd love to hear them pronounce your home county! Welcome! 😊
  13. The Oxford tank bag with magnets I had on my Fazer was used for over 10 years without leaving a mark on the tank, as long as I kept the bike and the bag clean there were no issues.
  14. When I took the handguards off I fitted end weights from a naked MT-09 as well as Rizoma grips and had to move the switch blocks out to close the gaps. I just filed the pins off the switch blocks and tightened them up, no movement in 3 years. The bars are standard so maybe aftermarket bars are slightly narrower requiring the fixes mentioned above.
  15. I had an Oxford tank bag with the magnetic mounts that I used on my Fazer and the first time I tried it on the Tracer I could see this isn't happening. Now I have the Givi Tanklock bag although I hardly use it. The top box is more practical for day trips.
  16. That's true, I have this pipe and the loop under the engine means the centre stand must go.
  17. I have 2 jackets, a 16 year old Dainese leather and a slightly younger Arlen Ness summer jacket. I can't say much more than that except that the Dainese is black and white and silver and has a removeable zip out winter lining and also zips onto my Dainese leather pants. I haven't worn either in years because it doesn't get cold enough. I have a lightweight padded jacket that I wear under the Arlen Ness if it is a bit chilly.
  18. The double D ring is much more secure than a clip lock system on the chin strap.
  19. I have ridden a BMW R1200GS a couple of times and I don't get the attraction. It is the best selling motorcycle in South Africa.
  20. No harm no foul, it's fine 😊 She's 5'7" but she didn't get the tall genes, her younger sister is 6'1" Together we are 175kg/386lb (without gear) on stock suspension but it rides just fine.
  21. Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by a "petite thing" but I'm sure it's not a compliment to one of us!
  22. This is my wife and I on Saturday at the first biker get-together since the start of lockdown.
  23. It looked like the bike has an extended swingarm so it probably handles like a dog.
  24. MV is up under the seat unit.
  25. I saw this 'Busa on Saturday and it seems to have an identity crisis, apart from the GSX-R tail unit (IMO a huge improvement over stock) has anyone seen an exhaust like this before?
