  1. My numberplate is attached with double sided tape. Very hard to remove deliberately so unlikely to fall off.
  2. LOL I thought you meant the rattley clutch and paper thin seat!
  3. The bike has done 9,000 km its not like it is overworked.
  4. pfft, pounds and psi.... I am 110kg my wife is 65kg the pressures in my PR5 are 250kPa front and 290kPa rear.
  5. I get that it works but it's about aesthetics, you won't see this on a Ducati. Shame on you Yamaha, saving two inches of hose.
  6. I wasn't sure what to search here but I'm sure this has been discussed before. The apparently badly made radiator hoses on my 2017 Tracer really annoy me, has anyone solved this? Is it a question of loosening and pushing, or are there aftermarket solutions? Or do later models' hoses fit better?
  7. Not only ECU but ignition, fuel cap, seat lock, it can get very expensive. Here the first thing they ask when you sell a bike is "do you have the red key?"
  8. The stock tyres on my Tracer were fine for the way I ride, based on the amount of tread on the back I reckon it was around three-quarters done when it was slashed by some road debris and stranded me miles from home, and this was at around 9,200km. Full disclosure, I don't think I've done more than 50km in the rain so I can't comment on wet performance but then we have less than 100 days' rainfall a year. This was around a month ago, I put on Michelin Road 5s front and rear and they are inspiring me to ride in an ever more spirited manner which is good fun! Rainy season is about to start so maybe I can get some wet time in.
  9. I took the hand guards off my Tracer (2017) and fitted bar end weights from an MT-09, I found that the standard setup was just that bit uncomfortable mentally, especially after coming from a Fazer 600. I don't like the look of the hand guards anyway so it was a double win.
  10. I have no interest in cycling and I have no interest in visiting France either but I watch TdF every year for the scenery. The TV guys have fine tuned their craft and turned a boring few hours into a travelogue that French tourism authorities could be proud of. I didn't know about this deal with the Nikens but I noticed a couple the other day at the end of a stage. +1 on Phil Liggett.
  11. Looks great, last time I was in the country of my birth in 1982 (visit, not birth) the weather was so bad that many of the photos are 3 horizontal stripes: loch, hillside, grey sky 🤦‍♂️ I see you have a Givi topbox bracket, why strap a backpack onto the seat? Just wondering.... 🤷‍♂️
  12. I did this once on my 400 back in the early 80s and swore never again. For what the bike shops charge to do this I'd rather let them get on with it. However, I know people out there like to do everything themselves and respect to them!
  13. I put PR5s on almost a week ago as I couldn't get 4s anywhere. I can see why the tread would chuck stones, that's a wide groove.
  14. One of my friends has a Triumph Tiger 1250 Explorer and he says it is the best bike he has had for town and long distance riding. He got it when his Kawasaki GTR1400 chewed a shaft gear on a round the country trip so he traded it in on the Tiger and hasn't looked back.
  15. I called around a dozen shops this morning and got the same answer from all of them: PR4 discontinued. So I went for the 5s, I got a pair for USD 260/EUR 220/GBP200 including fitting and balancing. I don't know if that's a good price but I was expecting a lot more based on the Googling I did last night. While the back wheel is off I need to try and get all the chain wax off the sprocket carrier. It's really sticky!
  16. So this morning out on a ride around 90km from home I hit something on the road and the rear immediately went flat. Luckily it was a straight road in traffic so only doing around 60km/h. The tyre can't be saved so tomorrow I have to shell out for a new pair. I'm still running the stock Dunlops and am leaning towards Michelin Pilot Road 4 as I had them on my Fazer and they felt good but are the 5s better? Worth what is sure to be a difference in price? I've only done around 9,000km on these tyres so I'm a bit miffed that I have to buy new tyres so soon.
  17. After reading this I realised I have never used mine. I went out to the garage, plugged in my cell phone charger, turned the key and it works. No tricks required.
  18. Don't worry, the speed signs aren't yellow where I live so I didn't click.
  19. This morning I was in World of Yamaha in Johannesburg and they have 2 new MT-07 Tracers on the floor with Michelin Pilot Road 4 from the factory. It only caught my eye because I recognised the tread pattern from the PR4s I had on my Fazer. I didn't look closely at the tyres to see if they are "genuine" PR4s or made under licence in a dubious factory (as I saw on a recent video).
  20. I am interested in these "yellow panels", I have a 2017 Tracer so maybe the GT has something new that I don't know about. BTW I had to remove the centre stand to fit my Akrapovic pipe and the feelers on the pegs are also gone so when I scrape something it might be too late! From experience, take it easy until your girlfriend is relaxed on the back, my wife is such a confident passenger I don't even know she is there.
  21. Wow I haven't seen a Pirelli Phantom since I had them on my 1980 Honda CB400N!
  22. Our borders are sealed and will stay so for the foreseeable future so I don't think your colleague will be here anytime soon. You're in a better position than me, I'd never heard of Die Antwoord! Not really into hip hop 😝
  23. The price I paid for my AGV Corsa R helmet 2 years ago is 6 times the price I paid for that 400N brand new. Of course our currency went into the toilet years ago so the exchange rate is really crappy.
