GTO MIKE replied to Clegg78's topic in Tracer 900 GT Discussions
Pretty smart little device you came up with . I like the concept and the small carry on design. Nice! -
Some personal thoughts and comparisons between old and new
GTO MIKE replied to wordsmith's topic in Tracer 900 GT Discussions
I thought the same on the thumbwheel have it on the left and switch the TC and ride mode to the right grip . Have to have throttle closed anyway to change those two . Yamaha must think nobody going to scroll through those while moving ,but I roll through mine quite often on the move . You can reach over on a straight stretch or slip into cruise for a roll through also. Just seems they didn't quite think it through! -
The levers came from AVDB MOTO in France. Off EBay.

Sound like maybe timing chain rattle. Just a guess. Do you have the manual adjuster installed ?

I only covered the gauges and had no problems in 11 years. -

The Honda ST 1300 had the same issue. And also had the warning of parking facing the sun. I rode to work allot in the summer so it would be parked for 8 hours , so I always covered dash with a white cloth big enough to hook under so as to not blow off . Keeps the gauges from fading also.. -
Congrats on your new tracer . A lot to like about the tracer GT!
-
That is the stock replacement for the original hugger. The piece I put on was the extension on the original hugger. Totally different.
-
Never really figured the Tracer would be good on gas and never seen much about it in all the reviews I looked at which was a lot before I pulled the trigger on a new GT , but I have been averaging 52 to 53 mpg and just got 55 mpg on the last fill up. That's actual not the computer . Mind you I'm not babying it either , hard to do anyway. But the highway will generate good return on the triple. I'm more than pleased!

Welcome and enjoy your new ride . You can go at least 200 + miles between fill ups now!

I had to order right from the pyramid plastics web sight and from the UK so it took a little while but I feel worth the wait.
-
Yep this is some super sticky rubber not foam so it should hold up. Comes with plastic rivets if you want to use .there was enough left over sticky to use again if needed.
-
Got the Pyramid rear fender extender on . Super easy to put together and install. Great product ! First pic is sticky tapes on with the before peel off of waxy covering. Second together and installed on 3rd pic .Nice MIKE
-
Finally got my new levers and installed . perfect fit and look great. Took a whole month to get from France but worth the wait! Very nice .I think they were around $70 dollars with shipping ! MIKE

Ordered mine from abdv-moto from France over a month ago . Still waiting . Darn Covid shipping delays ! MIKE

Your correct on the battery and installed side ways at that . The 4 pads should be on the frame in either position. MIKE

Now that I,m over 1000 miles on my new bike , and getting used to it, I started to ride it in A mode and I swear it seems to run smoother with less vibration while cruising . Has anyone else noticed this or is it my imagination ? Don't know all the parameters that it changes but maybe more fueling or timing changes come into play ? MIKE

The pyramid I put on came with nice double sided rubber stickies ,not cheap foam and plastic rivets also ,if you wanted to use them too. Didn't have to use them. The double sided method worked great! The trick is getting off the front fender ,unclamping the brake lines ,Remove the 4 side screws, carefully removed the plastic line clamps by reaching under fender with needle nose pliers to pinch the little ears to pop out of fender. Then I unbolted left side caliper to raise up high enough to be able to lift fender up forward and out. Reverse for install. How I did it anyway. MIKE

Good advice on the thread lock ,. checked mine today and one was loose. Now they are in with blue Loctite. ! Thanks, MIKE
-
Wow that's a lot more than most ,unless its made in the USA. Otherwise they jacked the price way up !
-
Wow that looks crappy. I guessing there has got to be more damage to the other aluminum or metal parts. MIKE
-
Wow looks pretty bad ! Do you ride any off road or very dusty conditions? Looks some I changed back in my dirt bike days! MIKE
-
Cant agree with you more , This bike was My retirement reward for myself . It brings back the fun in riding and that motor is a true beast. Feels like an on road dirt bike to me with the light weight and quickness but with enough civility to make it an all around great bike ! MIKE 2020 tracer 900 GT

Ordered off EBAY from avdb-moto (9.677) the Black with the gold adjusters. Still waiting for them , so cant give a report on them! MIKE
