I noticed the same thing a few times when I first road mine home from the dealership. I Iooked at the shifter and it seems a bit low from the factory , I was going to try and adjust the linkage but instead moved the upper lever on splined input up 1 spline ,problem solved. 100 percent improvement. I think they had this designed for a crouching rider with a forward lean and now the motor is in an upright riding position bike..It worked for me anyway. OOPS maybe that was down to get the lever up. MIKE

I too was a life time Honda owner and wanted to replace my 07 ST 1300 with something lighter I could handle in my old age ,a young 65 and hence the 900GT came into the picture , and don't regret it one bit.. I of course looked at the Honda NX 750 and came close , but couldn't get over the 48 HP they make.So the research began and I now own my first Yamaha !

My last # 001312 bought in June 2020 no recall yet and has worked prefect so far , even with new adjustable levers installed ! MIKE

You wont be disappointed either way you go . I myself was looking at the Honda NX750 for a lighter alternative to an 07 ST 1300 ,but couldn't get over the lowly HP on the Honda. You wont have that problem with the GT900 ,it plain rips and will bring a smile to your face every ride !

Welcome and enjoy your ride when your finally able to. Yeah mine in the garage because of the winter, but mainly because of the salt brine mix they put on the roads here in OHIO. It eats up anything you drive on it .I wait till the roads are washed off by the spring rains. MIKE

I thought the same thing on the chain size . I can only guess they did it for the weight saving and and a little HP gain. Heck I once owned a new 1977 Honda 750 super sport. It came with a monster 630 chain . Talk about overkill !

Ok let's put the manual aside and get to the real issue at hand. The CP3 being a high compression motor requires premium fuel to perform properly and avoid the damages that lower grade fuels can cause. The main one being preignition or fuel ignighting before the piston has reached top dead center. Lower grade fuels actually burn quicker which causes this to happen and can cause damage that you don't even hear. Sure you run what you want and don't lug,rev,or ride it like it was made for. TO PERFORM. not me ill put in the best I can get and enjoy it like it was ment to be enjoyed. MIKE

Wow that is some great riding you did. Just shows how light ,nimble and neutral handling the tracer is.That said I think I would have wanted a full on dirt bike under me on that terrain. MIKE

Welcome and enjoy your new ride. Like many at times I've had up to 3 bikes in the stable. For many years always had dirt bikes around and raced armature motocross also. Now since retired I went with the 900 GT and enjoy splitting time with it and an 04 GTO that I have . Of course the GT usually gets the nod. This is the first Yamaha I have owned after decades of Honda and Truly enjoy the GT 900. MIKE

Wow good for not crashing . I doubt if fork tubes are bend ,but you may have tweaked them in the triple tree and are out of alignment. You will be able to tell when removing the front wheel . If your not confident in how to loosen and line the forks up then your best bet is probably the Dealer or someone that can help you. Good luck ! MIKE

I think vinyl wrap would be a better option. They make them for dirt bike fork protection. I had carbon fibre ones on a CR .looks great.. Or you can get full sheets and cut your own .If you don't like , peel it off. Mike

I would say the inner lube is totally gone and the links are kinking making the noise you describe. Its now only surviving and grudgingly at that with any lube you supply. Like has been noted your risking some real damage by continuing to ride with the chain in that condition! MIKE

This bike could be a winner . I was a life time Honda owner and they all were excellent and also super reliable. The Yamaha 900 GT won me over with its light weight ,options and of course the great CP3 motor. I was looking at the Honda NC750X ,a nice bike ,but couldn't get over the fact it only put out 47 HP. So the Tracer got my Vote and no regrets at all. I wouldn't hold my breath for the new Honda . They have a track record of not putting concept bikes into actual production. Even if it would happen ,I sure the price would be a downer also ! MIKE

I think you might be right in thinking wheel disc surface has been machined. Why ,one can only guess I took some pics of my 2020 GT. so there could be a difference .,But on mine the disc is clearly out farther on the mounting surface and the outer pads in the calipers almost touch . Hope you get it lined out ! sorry for the crappy pics. MIKE

Also looking for replacements. Not only do the stockers look ugly, but are so floppy flexible. Just looking at options MIKE!

My guess is moisture has gotten in between the cover and the fork and the spring that holds the inner lip against the tube is rusting .if it has a spring . Not much you can do but maybe fill the hole with grease and seal with some rubber sealant .Its a total tear down to replace . I would keep a keen eye on it . MIKE

My 2020 trans noise at 55 ,but quiet at 50 and 60, so 60 it is on the highway and 50 or 60 on back roads. MIKE

Man this is so simple leave the kill switch on always and turn the ignition key on wait for dash to cycle through , push the start button. Done . ride then shut it off with the key. Repeat as needed ! MIKE

Wow that may have been your problem ,rear wheel alignment. 3 mm is almost an 1/8 inch. .Be sure and inform us of the outcome . My 2020 has been absolutely stable.at all speeds hands on or off. Guess I got lucky.!
