What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?

Recommended Posts

Having fun playing with my Sena 20s. Sounds great and adds a new dimension to my riding. Went for a ride this morning and ran into a buddy of mine on his way to work on his DR650. Followed him to his job, chatted a bit and then rode some more listening to tunes and enjoying the experience. Life is good...
What speakers did you use?

I tried using the speakers that come with the Sena, but they weren't very good. In the end, I take my Munitio ear buds and just plug them into the Sena for sound. They sort of double as ear protectors, although I know they aren't as good for ear protection as the Howard Leight ear plugs I used to use.

I finally got rid of those giant pumpkins on all four corners.  Decided on these for the task: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Stalk-Navajo-LED-Turn-Signals-Adapter-Plate-Kit-Yamaha-FZ8-FZ09-/400733168672?hash=item5d4d8ee420:g:mzMAAOSw8lBTrI0n&vxp=mtr

They are made in Taiwan, seem well built though, nice rubber bases, and mounting adapter plates are included. Oh, and they are bright.  They are 2-wire lights, so unless/until I get a Blinker-Genie there are no front running lights, and they blink fast (but I like the quick rate).  From base to tip they measure 3-1/4 inches, so they are flush with the rear side rails allowing for some soft luggage use without issues.  I like them.

A little bit of back log here, starting at this point:
DSC_0387.jpg
I first rode the bike about four weeks ago, and could hardly think about anything else, my only real complaint was the buffeting from the stock screen that made me unable to hear the engine.
DSC_0395.jpg
Four days later, it was time to deliver it for the 1000 km initial service, and while it was there they added the large OEM top box (great product, nice to have the same key for ignition and luggage, and to be able to quickly remove it when I want to ride without or take the whole thing up to my hotel room).
DSC_0415.jpg
They also attached this bad boy.
DSC_0417.jpg
Yes, those are open Akrapovic pipes. Now I could hear the engine again over the wind induced noise, but ear plugs are absolutely necessary. Also, I tend to leave a trail of annoyed car alarms.
After that I mounted white Dzell knuckle guard lights with blinker modules (but still have not got the right connectors so no light yet...) and a Puig racing screen. The turbulence now hits my shoulders (I'm 193, that's 6'4 for the metrically challenged), and it's quiet again. Since I will be doing more city riding and I will be able to hear the engine again, I guess it makes sense for me to insert the muffler...
DSC_0431.jpg
Now I am thinking about the following:

Light and appearance
[ul type=disc][*]OEM LED Flashers Plus Front or Custom LED Universal LED Flushmount Blinker [*]Custom LED BlasterX tail light[*]Powerbronze tail tidy, removing rear blinkers, I guess. (The alternative is the OEM rear blinkers with running and break lights, but not sure if it will look good or just stupid.)
[*] The poser in me also wants this but in all black or the bike's grey, backlit when ignition is on and engine is off: YAMAHA MT09 TRACER FRONT WINDSCREEN BRACKET [/ul]
Protection
[ul type=disc][*]OEM Engine protectors[*]Powerbronze Belly Pan[*]A radiator cover, not decided which yet[/ul]
Comfort[ul type=disc][*]OEM Heated Grips, ordered, should be on the bike in a couple of weeks
[*]OEM Passenger Backrest, same[*]More screens for various conditions... thinking about the short Powerbronze screen (I like the look) plus a really large touring screen
[*]A seat, a seat, my kingdom for a seat (that doesn't make me unable to walk after a couple of days of hard riding). But I have no clue which, most of them seem to lower the seat height, which for me is not a good idea.
[/ul]
Other
[ul type=disc][*]The Garmin VIRB XE is arriving today... so more adventure documentation!
[*]I assume I will be tempted to add more silly stuff
[*]Maybe a horn, but I want to be able to both beep and BOOOOOOOOOOP, so it will have a separate button.[*]Fog lights? May happen.[*]GPS tracker.[*]Tank bag(s).
[*]OEM Side Cases may happen if I decide to go on a long trip next year.
[*]A twenty button bespoke switch panel to control all my farkles.
[/ul]

May I make a suggestion if you need a lot of switches?

Feniex 4200 mini controller. It's waterproof too ;)

You're welcome.

I was thinking about that as a project that would be too big to undertake any time soon. Now you may have cost me lot of hours and cash, since this seems just right and very much possible... So... Thanks, I guess? ;)

Haha it also comes with a ram style ball mount so all you'd have to supply is the actual u-bolt that goes around your handle bars. It works really well. Just put one in my truck to activate LED pod lights. Super easy to install.

If I had more lights on my bike or atv I would not hesitate to use this item for those as well.

I installed a Motodynamic integrated LED tail light and low profile blinker/markers front and rear.  Also installed DZELL amber knuckle guard blinker/marker LEDs.  Everything was connected with Y harnesses both bought and custom made along with a TST LED flasher to eliminate hyperflashing.  Finally, I installed a GIVI top case.
