  1. Agree, I used them on a previous bike and never had an issue. Just haven't gotten around to fitting them on my current Tracer......
  2. Wordsmith - You will be missed, but not forgotten here, I hope I can ride half as long as you have. I think we all have pondered what will happen when we get to the place you have arrived, but it is too painful to think about. You, my friend, have met the demon head-on, and with class not many of us can muster. Enjoy your new pursuits, and check in on us from time to time.....
  3. Manual says to perform this first at 1,000km, and again every 6,000km thereafter. I personally do it far less frequently, usually when I do my valves.
  4. Everyone is different, I know a lot of folks that love the stock seat. Others want a 2nd seat while they ship theirs off to be modified, and some have damage to their seat and are looking for a replacement at a good price. You never know who might want something, so I always ask, and I'm rarely surprised when folks call........
  5. Bumping this up to the top - Anyone interested........
  6. I'm moving, and I have a Tracer 900 GT original stock seat and an FJ-09 original stock seat taking up space in my garage. Make me an offer, both are in perfect condition. I replaced both with Corbin seats shortly after purchasing each bike. Actual shipping costs will be added to your offer price, once I have the destination. I will ship UPS, unless you request otherwise. David
  7. Yep, I agree. I replaced my tail light with the BlasterX, which has the integrated turn signals for the rear of the bike. I still haven't replaced my front bulbs though - maybe this year......
  8. If you like to call audibles, the GPS is a better option. You can always set your destination and it will get you to a known point. This allows you to follow some fun roads and not worry about getting too lost.
  9. Just went out and checked again, using the method on the video - still no movement.....
  10. Welcome to the forum, Another Oil post? There are twice as many opinions about what oil to use than the number of riders. Don't expect any kind of consensus here. Just get a high quality oil, and for warranty, make sure it meets (or exceeds) the specs Yamaha requires. btw - ~3500 posts on oil on this forum - just do a quick search and read to your hearts content
  11. There are several fuze boxes scattered around this motorcycle, double check all of them to be sure you don't have a blown fuze somewhere. From ULEWZ in a previous post titled: "Fuse box": "Fuse blocks are on the right side under the easy to remove panel. Two Fuse blocks are on the right side." I think there are fuzes up around the front of the bike too, but my memory isn't what it used to be.... There may be others, I can't remember off the top of my head. Good luck, hope this helps,
  12. So is mine the only one that doesn't have this free play? Seems weird that some would have free play and others not.......
  13. Not normal, it looks like the screw holding yours in is loose, or stripped.
  14. +1 on the Corbin, I had one on my original FJ09, and it was the first upgrade I made to my Tracer 900 GT
  15. I have the Madstad Windscreen, so this may not work for everyone. I bolted a standard ball mount directly to the Madstad plate (on the inside of the screen), and connected the GPS bracket to the ball mount. It is a very clean installation, and gets the GPS up high, so I don't have to look down when navigating.
  16. What do you mean we can't argue? What kind of Forum is this anyway....... just kidding!
  17. That is in fact the road I'm referring too, SE Middle Fork Road, just past Snoqualmie Middle School
  18. I have always found that replacing the chain and both sprockets (or at least the rear sprocket) at the same time is a good idea. It does run the cost up a bit, but these are consumables. The bike always runs much better when they are new. I have replaced the chain and left the sprockets alone, but the life of the new chain always seems to be much less then when I change them along with new sprockets too. As always, YMMV! I'm about to do the same service to my bike and I'll be replacing all three.
  19. Watch this, it explains the issue far better than I can....... And from my personal experience of riding since the 80's, new motorcycle tires always last a fraction of the mileage than the aftermarket replacements of the same Manufacturer / Tire model.
  20. +1 on the Corbin, I have had one on my FJ09, and again on my Tracer 900 They aren't cheap, but they are very good.....
  21. You might consider Oxford heated grips. Before the Tracer, and the stock heated grips, lots of folks installed Oxford on their FJ09 for heated grips. Lots of information on the forum if you do a Wayback search......
  22. I was able to go to my local Ace Hardware store and have them make duplicates of the Yamaha key, using a metal blank key. It is much sturdier than the Yamaha provided key, and I use that for my daily riding.
  23. Just make the weather warmer and sunnier......
  24. Unless things have drastically changed, bikes do **NOT** come to the dealer with fluids installed. They are dry, and most of the parts (steering wheel, center stand, wheels, etc.) are crated with the bits and pieces stuffed all around the core engine/frame of the bike. The dealers have mechanics to open the crate and follow their detailed instructions to setup and add fluids to the bike. Setup can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a day or more depending upon the bike. If you look at your invoice on your bike, you should see a line item for "Set-Up" This is what they are talking about. As for servicing, we were mandated to go through the dealership checklist to check various components, before finishing each bike. This was revenue generation, as many bikes could have been returned as ok, but the sales folks would "Recommend" they have some (or most) of these identified items fixed before returning the bike.
