  1. If using a compressor, connect it directly to the battery with alligator clips or battery tender SAE connector.
  2. The belly pan is not like a skid plate, it doesn't have a bottom, only the front and sides. It really doesn't serve any real purpose other than maybe keeping a few rocks off of the headers. Changing the oil has never been an issue with it installed. The seat is custom built locally from Rich's Custom Seats.
  3. Their color match is true factory colors and is 100% perfect. Note on their website for most colors there is both a solid and two-tone option, this is the two-tone paint option.
  4. Damn, you have some LOOONG legs, highway pegs might make things a bit more comfortable, allowing you to stretch out. I have a 33"-34" inseam and absolutely need to stretch my legs.
  5. I am really curious to see the finished bike, I really like a bike that is unique and stands out from the masses, even if it is just subtle changes.
  6. Here is a list of typical Yamaha connectors. Motorcycle MT .090 Sealed Series - Connector and Terminals Sumitomo - HM Sealed(Mounting Bracket type) and MT Sealed type...
  7. @Lisa - If you aren't aware, the FJ has 3 ride modes and B-mode has a very tame throttle response, perfect for a new rider getting familiar with the bike. Ride safe.
  8. As @keithu mentioned, a little in-camera color saturation to overcome the lifeless overcast day, in addition I also use orange pledge to polish the plastics. It really makes the gloss finish SHINE!
  9. Yes, photos taken on overcast days always appear very dull or 'flat'. I add a touch of contrast and vibrance to make them a bit more pleasing.
  10. Ermax bellypan from France, color matched and stupid expensive. 🤷‍♀️ ermax: products-by-bike The LED DRL's are from Denali and they are VERY bright DENALI DRL Daytime Running Lights with Universal Offset Mounting Kit | Amber or White | TwistedThrottle.com Enhance visibility & safety with a clean, factory-looking appearance using...
  11. I agree, I'm friends with the guys at my dealership and they let me in back when they un-crated and setup my bike, it was quite a bit more than just bolting on the front wheel and checking the fluids. 👍
  12. @Cruizin - Very nice! It only took a few years for Yamaha to finally deliver, it should be a fun ride. What are the extra boxes inside the shipping crate?
  13. Today I rode through the foothills to the North side of Mount Rainier along the Carbon River. It was slightly overcast the entire ride and of course the sun came out when I got home.
  14. @Lisa - You will find MANY opinions on windscreens on every motorcycle forum, it's very subjective since everyone wants a different end result. Some want them just big enough to cover the instrument gauge and others want zero exposure to airflow and the elements. The Parabellum Flyscreen is a nice short screen that doesn't block airflow. Regardless of the screen used, I still always use earplugs. FJ-09 Parabellum Flyscreeen
  15. OK, so that is a huge clue. The rear wheel spins freely with no binding indicating assembly is correct. Brake system has been bled and fluid flows completely from the reservoir through the MC to the caliper. The rear wheel is not binding UNTIL the pedal is pressed and piston extended, when you say the piston wont release. In my line of thinking you have narrowed the issue down to the caliper and master cylinder. The caliper was just rebuilt -so- with the caliper removed from the brake carrier, when you press the pedal to extend the piston- halfway is adequate, does the piston freely extend and smoothly retract back to 100% seated inside the caliper. When you cycle the piston in and out does the fluid level visibly lower and then raise back up in the reservoir? When the piston is completely retracted back into the caliper, is the fluid level at or below the full mark? You don't want to overfill or the piston will never fully retract.
  16. The Puig motorized screen has 3x the travel, it adjusts slightly lower and quite a bit higher than the factory mount.
  17. @LizN - I too have longer legs, 33-34" inseam and find the FJ/Tracer quite comfortable. Highway pegs even add to the comfort.👍
  18. Motorized windscreen, operated with a push button. A lot of the bigger touring bikes have that feature.
  19. @fj09viking - Wow, that is an expensive mistake, good luck getting it replaced and getting back on the road.
  20. You get an FJR as a 'work vehicle'? Not too shabby. 👍
  21. If you look at cycle-ergo you will see that the FJR has a fair bit less leg room than the Tracer, the FJR's seat to peg measurement is less so will feel more cramped than the tracer. https://cycle-ergo.com/
  22. Many years ago I worked with F-14's in the military and we had the exact same procedure. Visually and hands-on physically inspect the repair (QA) and inventory all tools. I still do that to this day.
  23. I wouldn't pay for the 600 mile service either, no sense paying for something so basic, a sync tool will cost you $100. An ECU flash is $250 and combined with a TB sync it could smooth out the bike completely. That beats selling a great bike that you like. If I sold every bike that didn't suit me off the showroom floor, I wouldn't own a motorcycle. There has always been something that I wanted or needed to change.
  24. I looked on a few parts fiche and it didn't indicate whether bearings were included or not, neither did they mention the inclusion of valve stem, center spacer or oil seals. I would 'assume' all of those parts are sold separately or you would transfer them from your old wheel, do you have a bearing puller? Just curious, why do you have to replace the rear wheel?
