  1. I never did the core exchange, in addition to taking over 3 months to get them built and shipped, there was never any follow through with core exchange/ credit due to how far back logged he became. He originally said he would buy my oem cartridges back but after the sale I never heard back from him. As far as adapting the Traxxion cartridges, I believe I read it was around $150-$200 which is a pretty attractive feature depending on if you change bikes or resale to another rider.
  2. Let me know what you find, that might be my issue as well.👍
  3. Like @2and3cylinders mentioned, it 'might' just be an assembly issue not allowing it to be adjusted further, because with the adjusters fully closed the forks should be very slow and dead feeling. I live within an hour of a few suspension shops who deal with all of the big brands, Ohlins, K-Tech, Nitron, Race Tech and GP Suspension. I have also considered Traxxion Dynamics, I ordered my Penske shock from them - it is amazing and I don't know of anyone who has a bad thing to say about their AK-20 cartridges. 'IF' I decide to go with cartridges, Traxxion would probably be my first choice, just because I have used them before and ridden on their product. They spec out their shocks to be built from Penske but the fork pieces are made - and their cartridges are built to order - in house. As a bonus, you can re-use them on your next bike! 5. Actually..... The Razor "Lite" is a few hundred less at only $500, combined with the IDS20 forks @ $900, that's $1400. 6. There isn't much of a change between the FJ09 and the base level Tracer. Except for the longer swingarm, the engine and frame are the same, the slightly reshaped bodywork will be the most significant difference, the seat is also slightly reshaped. All of the major changes were for the GT model. One benefit of the 2015 and 2016 models is the ability to clear error codes through the screen menu and modify the APS setting for smoother throttle opening, that option went away in 2017. You now have to buy a scan tool and plug into the bike harness.
  7. What about individuality and personal choice? 🤷‍♀️
  8. It was in the 3rd post down, "Fork cartridges modified with rebound and compression pistons in each leg + new springs + rebound fork cap for 2nd leg + packaging and shipping across the country for less than $500." He sent me .95kg/mm springs and I am using Bel Ray 5w rated at 15.8cst. I checked the range on the fork caps and counted 17 full clicks of rebound adjustment.
  9. Yes, in the the price breakdown listed above, springs were part of the package.
  10. While on a road trip to Colorado last summer, I had had stopped and chatted with a guy on a R 1250 GSA. I spent several minutes looking at the details and craftsmanship and was VERY impressed, dare I say it seemed actually (almost) worth the $24k asking price?! However, (according to Revzilla's spec sheet) it has an almost 8 gallon fuel capacity and 36" seat height, it looked MASSIVE!
  11. I agree about the visually heavy look and it almost completely blocks the wheel. The BOS looks much more streamlined. 👍
  12. Nothing has changed with the forks since the last time they were serviced, November 2018. The fluid and seals have about 18k miles since then and are scheduled for the next service at the end of this season. I was asking around on the FZ09 forum as well and the rebound rod was mentioned just like you suggested, so that is something to look at. Like I had mentioned, the forks currently work well, I was out for a ride experimenting with different setting when I discovered that both legs were on the very last click. That is where I originally started thinking- If I had them disassembled for a service and possible revalve, would it be a worthwhile 'upgrade' to get a set of drop-in cartridges? Thanks for the help

  14. When I had my ECU flashed at 2WDW, I called and talked to them about some of the changes and they told me that A-mode is 'quick turn', not more powerful but it happens in a slightly shorter turn of the throttle. I sent my ECU back when I got my Scorpion exhaust for a different fuel map, I also had them set it to default to A-mode and couldn't be happier, very smooth and controlled, not jerky or choppy at all.
  15. What I am saying though is, the compression damping screw adjusts low speed compression while the high speed (non-adjustable) is affected by valving restrictions or oil viscosity. If I change to a higher viscosity oil to compensate for the rebound, - I believe - that the high speed compression will suffer, thicker oil resulting in harshness. Is this correct or am I thinking wrong?
  16. @keithu - Is the Rally still scheduled or has it been cancelled like everything else this year?
  17. I was out on a ride experimenting with different clicker settings and realized that the rebound settings were on the last available click. I have considered a slightly heavier oil but wondered how that would affect the high speed compression- pot holes and harsh road imperfections. If I'm not mistaken...(???) the compression adjustment controls the slow speed movement??? To be honest I haven't consulted a suspension shop about this yet since its the weekend. I have the specialty tools to do a basic fork oil or spring change myself but I don't want to chase one issue and create another. To be honest, I'm not sure what Matt used to modify the stock forks, considering the extremely low price I'm fairly certain he didn't install Gold Valves or any other aftermarket manufacturers piston kit, was it modified oem parts?. Fork cartridges modified with rebound and compression pistons in each leg + new springs + rebound fork cap for 2nd leg + packaging and shipping across the country for less than $500. Even though they work well, curiosity has me wondering, could they be improved? could they be really, REALLY improved?
  18. I cant really tell from the photo but is the actual top layer of the faux carbon coming up? For any adhesive I just use something like Goo Gone.
  19. I have the Forks-By-Matt (Pattonme) upgraded cartridges in my 2015 forks, both legs are activated with rebound and compression pistons and rebound adjustment caps. I have the rebound adjusted where they feel best but discovered that is on the last click fully closed- clockwise. I would prefer not being maxed out in case I want to adjust further at some point. The question is, if I'm going to spend the money to get a revalve to modify the rebound circuit, would it be worth the additional cost to get drop-in cartridges? Compression adjustment on the fork cap would be nice as well. Has anyone changed from a piston kit on stock cartridge to custom built cartridges? Was there a difference in feel, enough to justify the cost? This Fall I will be due for the 2nd 2-year suspension service and would have any modifications done at that time while the forks are torn apart.
  20. @wordsmith - Good luck getting the ergonomics sorted. Since the previous owner was a fair bit larger than you, don't be surprised if the suspension technician suggests getting lighter springs to match your weight. There's no better feeling than when you get the bike adjusted and fitted for YOU and everything is 100% correct and comfortable.😎👍
  21. 75mph @ 7500rpm? doesn't sound right to me, what is your current sprocket combination?. I have +2 teeth taller rear sprocket for quicker acceleration and at 70mph I am at 5,000 rpm, 75mph at 5,500 rpm.
  22. Consider he is an instructor at Yamaha Champions Rider School and lives at the track dragging knee for a living, I would say "Extremely Enjoyable" = FAST!😎👍 Also look at his fuel economy with the gearing he selected, 17/43 runs at lower rpm (highway cruising speed) from stock, mine is geared the opposite, the 16/47 sprockets make mine higher rpm and I still average the same fuel economy as he reported, he must have been hauling a$$.
  23. @bugie - What type of riding do you do? K-Tech's Razor-R Lite might possibly be all you need for the rear. Emulsion shock (oil and nitrogen are NOT separated) and no compression adjustment but for general riding, this would be a definite improvement over stock.
