Mike, I have the MRA Touring w/no spoiler or piping on my GT. It works very well for me, but I'm only 5'10". In the screen's high position, the wind hits me at the top of my forehead, but it's very smooth with no turbulence or head shake. I also wear ear plugs regardless of screen type or bike type/make. No idea how well it'll work for your 6'1" frame. Ed

Substitute that light buffing time for a nice road trip that pays you in "miles of big smiles." 😉

Rob, I have a slightly taller MRA screen on my GT and I didn't bother trying to install the edge piping; just left it off and never looked back. Works very well for me.

There's some stuff in the boating world called Marine Tex. I've used it to fill and bond holes and cracks in wood and aluminum alike in the past years. Once it sets, it's sandable, drillable, impervious to solvents and damned near bulletproof. This is strictly my opinion . . . I would rough up the bottom of the pan with some 50 grit sandpaper, rough the 1/4"/6mm steel plate with same and then clean/degrease with strong rubbing alcohol to prep both surfaces. Then, mix the Marine Tex epoxy and hardener per the instructions and apply it like peanut butter. Apply just enough upward pressure to hold the steel in place with wedges or a very light stroke of a bottle jack or similar until the epoxy hardens. Dress the edges and you're good to go. Again, just my .02 cents based on my experiences with using Marine Tex. Edited info: Just had a wild thought. What about just mixing Marine Tex and applying it like the aforementioned peanut butter to the prepped and cleaned pan surface only? It applies thick and dries extremely hard as described above...maybe go that route vice adhering a steel plate. Use the epoxy itself to serve as the sacrificial impact coating that protects the aluminum pan surface? Food for thought...

Been using Dupont Chain Saver for many bikes now. Tried heavy oils and one or two other spray lubes long ago, but finally stopped experimenting and just stuck with what's worked so well all this time. This stuff has never let me down. 👍

Welcome, Stealth! Being a wee bit shorter than you, I can't personally testify to a screen that'll meet your needs, but maybe check out this link to another thread here on the forum, and you might at least get some ideas for tall screens that may work for you. I do know that National Cycle V-Streams can now be had in a Touring model, and California Scientific makes a tall Touring screen for the GT as well; several riders here use'em and have good things to say about'em. Interesting...haven't noticed any whistling from my GT. I run an MRA shield in the summer and a Cal-Sci shield in the winter. It sure seems logical that it's wind blowing through/around voids in the fairing/triple-tree area. 'Course, that's just a SWAG on my part. Good luck with tracking down the source.

+1 on what texscottyd said. I got my lights and brackets from RigidIndustries.com. Also spanned the two brackets with an aluminum flat bar and mounted the light in the center. They're not inexpensive, but I've used Rigid LEDs on my other bikes and my ATV and have a lotta faith in their performance under adverse conditions. As with anything, YMMV.

Kemmotar, that is indeed the older Alu-Rack from SW-Motech. When I bought it from Twisted Throttle, it was listed as fitting the 2017 FJ-09, so I took a chance and ordered it (there was nothing listed for the 900 GT at the time). Hardware, rails and rack fit just fine EXCEPT . . . the mounting tabs that bolt under the seat are aligned 90 degrees to the bike's centerline as opposed to aligning to the GT's factory-angled cutouts in the plastic side panels. I trimmed the factory cutouts with a utility knife to make the fit-up and never looked back. I bolted up the Monokey adapter plate, installed my V46, then ordered and installed my 30L Dolomiti top box. Been running that ever since. The rails and rack are very robust and fit my commuting needs to a tee. This is what works for me. Obviously, YMMV. Best of luck.

SS56, I also have the Givi Monokey plate and a Givi 30L Dolomiti aluminum case mounted on a SW-Motech rack vice a Yamaha rack. No problems with install, height or utility. My 2 cents...
