Now we wait a week for the paint to harden. I still can't believe they wanted 1-1.5k to paint these peices. Maybe I should get into the side business.

Getting a lot of runs in the plastics that had black paint of them. Don't know what the deal is. Going to give the parts a week that have e runs and do a wet sand. Otherwise base coat going on well. Got some glitter ready and some 2k clear coming.

Yeah, I've pretty much written the bike off at this point. If it ever comes to the time for it to be sold, any money I make will just be bonus. On the plus side, we bought it right before the world went sideways 2 years ago, I don't think they will ever be that cheap again.

Made some progress in testing, managed to find a combo of flake and clear that seemed to co-exist well. Took most of the day. I'll let it set for a week and see what happens but this might be the final color set.

Basically it will look like this, but instead of orange, it will be skank pink.

Well it's happening. I promised my wife a pink bike, so that's what she's getting. Tired to get her into a bigger bike like a 600-800 but dang it if she likes her z400 too much. So here we go.
  7. @roadwarrior is that railroad tunnel/track under ely peak a snowmobile trail as well in the winter?
  8. In Minnesota, they drive around with stolen workvans and completely lift the bike up and in.
  9. Here's what I did: Sacrificed a quadlock bicycle mount to make it, but it's nice and shallow. https://www.quadlockcase.com/collections/shop-mounts/products/bike-mount?variant=179963062
  10. Yeah well there's 1.5 billion people on tiktok, just because it's popular doesn't make it right.😜
  11. I mean it can't be that difficult.... Alright I'll order up some tools and see if I can't break something. Either way I'm going to make a mess it seems.
  12. WARNING! This forum can expose you to chemicals that are known to the state of cancer to cause California. For more information look up useless government legislation on the googler. Hell, just the number of products that had to create and deploy those stupid prop 65 stickers probably caused more damage to the environment/humans than the stupid warning is going to save/inform. Sorry I digress, there just isn't much the comes out of that state in terms of common sense.
  13. Do they put prop 65 stickers on motorcycles in CA? lol
  14. After exhausting my local resources for someone to rebuild my front forks, $500 dollars plus, seems excessive. So in reality, what specialty tools are required to tear down my forks and swap springs/fluid? In addition, what tools are not so much required but make life a heck of a lot easier? As preface, I have no qualms about tearing apart an engine and putting it back together but suspension always seems like black magic to me with oil weights, measuring crap...ect so that's my background.
  15. There's a mass exodus out of California ever since the pandemic. Colorado, Texas, Idaho, Montana, is where most of the activity is going. It's a beautiful state, with excellent weather, but horrible taxes, heavy handed laws on most everything. There are many who would like to see the nonsense end and hope it falls into the ocean soon enough. #learntoswim
  16. http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/fz09.htm The foam is there for noise reduction, do with it as you please.
  17. Does track riding diminish your pleasure of street riding? I always worry that if I start doing track days ( i have a small trackish type thing that's pretty close) that I wouldn't enjoy the street anymore.
  18. nope on anything 19+, just send the ecu to da ivan.
  19. Looks like it's more than that, had some time to look into it. This website explains it pretty well: There are two forces that work to extend the suspension to counter squat during acceleration. One is driving force from the rear tire, which pushes the axle forward, while the other is the drive chain, which pulls the axle forward and down in the direction of the top chain run. The three forces we are concerned with during acceleration are weight transfer (green), driving force (blue) and chain pull (red). Driving force acts horizontally on the axle, and is equal to the amount of acceleration. If the swingarm slopes up from the axle toward the front of the machine and the pivot, driving force will extend the suspension; however, deep in the travel the swingarm may slope down toward the front of the machine, and driving force will serve to compress the suspension further. Chain pull force also acts on the axle, and its direction also changes as the suspension moves through its travel. The magnitude of the chain force is proportional to the driving force in relation to the rear sprocket size and rear tire diameter. Chain pull generally serves to extend the suspension (picture the chain attached to the axle itself rather than the sprocket, and the effective line of force runs below the swingarm), but like the driving force and swingarm angle, may work to compress the suspension at extreme travel. https://www.datamc.org/data-acquisition/suspension-data-analysis/anti-squat-geometry/
  20. It's that the opposite? Since the chain front sprocket is higher than the pivot point of the rear swingarm, it's going to expand the suspension under acceleration. Don't super fancy race bikes have cams on their swingarms to adjust the height in relation to the frame? I also might be full of crap but I do like physics.
  21. I do better with pictures as I'm strong like bull, but smart like hammer.
  22. So if ABS fails, is that your fault as a rider? You are now relying on ABS for your safety.
  23. I think the question is wrong. The question should be, who is liable when safety fails?
