Did the same yesterday. The same 7C and sunny but only 3C and sky covered with clouds on the way back. Nevertheless nice 170 km ride.

YES to proper hand guards but NO to this wings.

“the hand guards, they have zero functionality except looking goofy and making the bars WAY too wide.” And windscreen way to narrow at the bottom (because of hand guards). Form over function...pretty bad idea in this case.

Just finished radiator guard installation. Normally quick job but because of the crash bars on my bike it took me much longer.

Got only one so far and nothing fancy. It was a middle of October last year when I first rode FJ09 ever (after 13 V Stroms in last 10 years). In fact it was a test ride and I picked her up 2 days later. Despite the fact that I managed to put on her 5000 km in next 5 weeks never got another picture. So here she is. My first (2017) FJ 09. And one more. OEM panniers gone and replaced with Givi quick release mounting racks to use with my Kappa 22l (when running local area and weekends) and Givi E360 (for touring) or Wolfman Expedition soft dry bags (when riding off road). Heed crash bars with bags installed as well as windscreen spoiler/lip, headlights guards and GPS hooked up along with Oxford heated grips.

Installed a skid plate and since there was outside 7C I took her for a quick couple of hours “test ride”.

It is definitely not right if Yamaha calls for valve check at 25000 miles and they are to tight at 10 or 15 000 miles. It is just ridiculous IMHO.

And one more here wearing Klim Latitude Misano jacket and pants combo. Because it is black I recently got Carlsbad (in grey) for summer riding which is lighter and has even better venting.

It's scary. I've had 13 V Stroms before I got my 2017 FJ-09 2 months ago (with just over 7000 km on it). I rode it for another 5000 km in 6 weeks and so far so good but reading stories like this make me wonder if I made the right choice. I never had single issue with Suzuki and here - it is not the first time I'm reading about tight (or worn out) exhaust valves. Some of them out of spects at 15000-20000 km. Shouldn't Yamaha do something about it since they recommend first valve check at 42 or 45000 km?

As already documented, there was definitely existing abrupt throttle response problem on 2015-16 models. Personally, after 6 weeks and 5000km (since I got my 2017) I am not expiriencing any jerkiness issues. 2018 and up GT models are perhaps even more polished in this department.

And the new addition (to Klim Latitude Misano jacket/pants combo) Carlsbad jacket is on it's way. This one for riding around and for summer time. Prefer it over Aerostitch because of much better venting. That's the main reason.

I'm glad to hear that. V Stroms are great bikes but this year way overpriced on the used market (I never buy new). I had to get next one since I rode my 2017 650XT for over 40000km in one year. Yes, overpriced to the point that I found 2017 FJ cheaper than any of 2017 or 18 V Strom 650. So to me it was obvious choice at this point. Btw I said 3-4 years old NEW bikes and my is "only" FJ09 (not GT). My riding buddy got his GT a year ago and after 23000km still very happy about it.

Already put 5000km on it 😄 and so far so good. I hope you got a good deal. Usually Ready Honda have pretty high prices. They have few 3-4 years old new bikes on the floor...
