Don't use auto oil in your motorcycle
TomTracer replied to maximNikenGT's topic in Yamaha Niken Forum
Follow the spec, not a specific brand. Follow the change frequency, not the color after 200 miles. Do not obsess about it. And remember oil threads are like many others-ignore most of them. -
As many of us do out of boredom when riding weather isn't very good, I spend time searching for things I may not really need to spend money I really shouldn't just because I can. I came across this source www.thewarmingstore.com. Check out some of the items for pricing, some are on sale for for less than shown full price, and a link came up for discounts on an item I was looking at. Have never ordered from or done business with these folks but they sure show lots of worthwhile stuff at decent prices. So folks, spend away!

I have a set of the smallest ROK's I intend to use that way. Gonna put some non-skid on inside bottom of the lid. Hate that slump of contents when opening the bags. My long ROK,'s are bullet proof. Great product.

Right. Have never bought gloves on line. I tried on these gloves and went a size larger than usual. The liner did not pull out with my fingers then. A rounded dowel works for pushing the liners back but it's an aggravation.

At a Falling Leaf BMW rally in Petosi. MO I bought tires for a good price. Installation was by No Mar. It took the rep 2+ hrs to figure out the machine setup. If the $p wasn't so cheap I would have ordered tires drop ship and mounted on my HF. Really surprised at the whole debacle.

I have a couple pair of cold temp gloves that are a pita because the liner pills out with your gingers. A real pita.

I agree. BUT, with all that's out there and fairly affordable, what would it take to inspire us? I'm guessing no matter what we would always criticize. Me included. -
Auto oilers? Anyone use them?
TomTracer replied to 2linby's topic in FJ-09 Tracer 900 General Discussions
The guy had a red one. We often switched bikes between rest stops for the heck of it. That Yamaha was not fun to ride IMO, but I was riding an R1100RT so the comparison by nature was skewed. I don't recall the lithium bath but obviously that is what was on the bike per the articles. Thanks for posting the links! -
The left grip is against the handlebar tube. The right is over the throttle tube, not against the handlebar. Could that difference be enough to cause the difference in temperature feeling right vs left?

Isn't that a sad testimony to how things have gone S on shipping/mailing and cost.

Years ago I rode several trips with a guy who bought an old European model Yamaha that had an oem oil bath chain. Seems like it was a 900 cc, but I'm not sure. It did not leak oil nor was the bike a mess. He put over 40,000 miles on the bike with no problems. I'm trying to remember the design with no luck so far. Some one here may recall that model in more detail than I. -
Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP Trip from Denver on the Tracer.

Ditto on Chief Joseph & Bear Tooth. I've been fortunate to ride all of the mentioned areas several times. Cody is a neat town with a great museum, and The Chief Joseph rivals many reads for some twisted. If you can get to the N entry to Glacier the Going to the Sun Road is great. In CO, Poudre Canyon is nice, and RMNP is a must. Glad you got to make your ride. Good for you!! -

Couldn't copy it over on my phone. And my fat fingers left out a 1, it's NT 1100 of course. -
Interesting bike, sounds pretty good, pricey but what isn't. Nothing said about US availability. FWIW.

My comment is unrelated to track days, just about a very well done museum and facility. I don't do track days, but have some friends who do at Heartland Park in Topeka. It ain't a Tally or Barber though!!!

Anyone who rides a bike MUST get to Barber! What a place museum and great facility.

I don't have a problem with my seat and tank. But THANKS for all your work on a big problem for many fellow riders! Good work

An official cross reference chart would be very beneficial. -
Someone gripes about the oem seat on just about every bike sold. What fits my arse likely won't fit yours. Just like windscreens, suspensions, height, etc. Just the way it is with most bikes and manufacturers.
-
Adcox stopped taking orders earlier because he had several months of work and I believe a health issue. Great product though based on all I've seen.

I have a Seat Concepts seat for an DL650 Adventure. Bought it in the Fall last year before the Covid crap hit and never installed. Sold the bike since then still have the Seat Concepts. Need to sell it, all original.

Might try a small dab of silicone between each washer to keep them from dropping into the bowels of the bike.
