Put on a steering stabilizer!

Which one did you get?

A Chinese rotary one that fit MT-09. Have spent a week commuting with it, keeps the bike planted through rough roads and wind and passing. Also it's made acceleration and braking seem smoother, before I must've had to focus more on holding the line then.

put the cold weather gear on...Givi windscreen, handguard extension, tail bag to hold rain gear and heat control for heated pants/jacket liner... its gonna be so weird to not feel the wind as it was my speed gauge ?
Which screen and would love a pic? Thanks!

Quick review of the KTM handguards.

They look better in person than in pictures in my opinion, they fit perfect and provide good coverage. I'm sure they will protect much better from the rain than the stockers while also leaving tons of room for any windscreen option or modifications down the line.

It was insanely hot over the week-end up here and they protected very well from the wind... enough that I ended up breaking one of my rule and rode barehanded for the first time in YEARS. There is definitely an air pocket behind them, as soon as you move your hand out of it you feel the wind right away.

With the cold weather coming up, I'm sure I will appreciate them much more! A good buy for under 100$ for sure(even cheaper in the US).

It's time for the 8000 mile service and some new sneakers.

Service included in the purchase price of the bike, so that's no big deal.  Sneakers, on the other hand...

Started out needing a rear, the wear bars are showing and the center is flat.  Dealer wanted $320 plus tax, disposal and $55 to mount and balance a Michelin PR4.  Hack, cough...

There's an indy shop about 10 miles further away that I've used for the machine work on motorcycle engines.  Guy specializes in stroker cranks for drag-racing Harleys, but does tires and engine work too.  You could eat off any surface in his machine shop.  Very professional and a nice guy to boot.

Called them, he said he could do it for $277.xx out the door including tax, disposal, mounting and balancing.  "I can be there in an hour!"

Bad news is, while it was on the lift he showed me the cupping on the front tire.  Tread depth is good, but cupping is REALLY noticeable when you take a minute to look for it.  "Well, faaack.  Order one up and call me when it comes in."

Be about the same price for the front, but I'll have all new rubber on it and be ready to carve some corners in the Spring!

yea them stock tires are known for cupping up front- realy annoying in the rain when going left... I got 6500 miles on mine amd they could hold out till end of the year but I do have some warranty work(Handlebar, front sprocket oil seal cover and potentially the CCT) on the bike coming up so Im gonna have em toss on some Pirelli Angel GTs...
* CCT has not made any funky motor behavior I know of yet...

I have a feeling it'll be the same for me and many other FJ-09 owner when the rear is due, not the first time I read about folk replacing the Front at the same time.
and i'll be going with PR4s also when they are due, hopefully this autumn if mother nature cooperates a little and allows for some autumn riding! :)

Now if mine came with the pretty blue finish that comes on the Euro bikes I wouldn't have had to cover them up.  8-)

I very rarely respond to posts like this that are so clearly highly subjective - but I gotta say that personally I greatly dislike the blue finished forks.   The Barbie-doll colour appears to be very unbike-like to me!   But... FWIW and as always YMMV... :(

The only reason you need blue fork tubes is because you can't get the front end up...

I also plan to wrap the fork tubes in CF  this winter...

I may have hurt Reds (FJ-09) feelings by getting the FZ-07 a new exhaust ?...
