wordsmith
About to order my new (and second) Tracer. I recall difficulty removing the prominent tank sticker/ decal. Any tips, idea, solutions welcomed. What's the best solvent to use without risk of scratching the tank? Thanks in advance... zine
I used WD40, but still have some remaining residue from the sticker .. which is driving my nuts!
humblebub
Warm with heat gun. Then WD. Peel and pick. Warm again and run off with finger. Finish up with more WD. Clean with rubbing alcohol and rewax. Or pick up a tube of goo be gone.
Premium Member martyl Posted March 31, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted March 31, 2016 I used a regular hair dryer. Pointed it about four to six inches from sticker. Picked at a corner while pointing hair dryer at sticker. Sticker peels right off. Then take the sticker and with the sticky side, Dab off the sticker residue on the tank. Easy as pie. Don't use a heat gun! Just a regular hair dryer. A Motorcyclist's Church is the open road....
zine
I'll try again the the hair dryer ... my only concern about any type of rubbing, is having the paint in that area go from 'Matt' grey to 'Polished' grey?

oldfart
None of the above. It peels right off at room temp then use the sticker itself to dab up any remaining glue. crappyslave
Hot a hot wet rag overr the sticker for a minute, and then it just peels right off. I did it while washing mine.
crazyivan
No idea about the availablity of teflon knives, or how well it works, but I recall watching this video from AvE. (his videos are always entertaining)
eeetea
200 grit should get it off... ...or I used carb cleaner, very sparingly (applied to soft cloth), it dissolved the glue, and I wiped it off again using car shampoo straight away...I suspect it wouldn't do the paint any favours if it was left on. In fact, don't try this at home.
