SoCal Rider
Is anyone else experiencing problems with their Tracer 900 fuel gauge? My gauge reads full until about 2 gallons have been used (about right for a 4.8 gallon tank) but then drop to 1/2 for a few miles then drops to 1/4 and remains there until about 4.2 gallons have been used. The gauge doesn't appear to be a linear (full, 3/4, 1/4, 1/4, etc) Is this normal?
bowlin01
This is normal, not very convenient or acceptable (IMO) but it is normal. Cheers Steve
josh
I watch my KM per tank not my gauge
koth442
Its normal for these bikes. The scale isn't linear. '15 FJ09
vic
Yep.... it’s a joke! I use trip 2 which I reset every time i fill up, and assume 200 miles per tank. Vic
norcal616
motorcycle gas tanks are not nice and linear as a car gas tank... vast majority of us go how many miles are on the trip meter... 2012 wr250f - C-class 30+ age group 2015 fz-07- Hordpower Edition-80whp 2015 fj-09- Graves Exhaust w/Woolich tune by 2WDW @120whp

If you look at the LED segments that represent the fuel level, you see that there is only one segment for 1/2 to full. Then I think there are two 2 segments from reserve to 1/2. The the blinky segment for reserve. Very non-intuitive and potentially misleading. From a fill, it takes about 100 miles for the first segment to go dark. The next segment goes dark in 45-50 miles as does the third. Which seems to happen REALLY fast! Now you're into blinky time and desperate for a fill up. As others have recommended, avoid this poorly designed indicator and use trip A or B to record miles traveled since last fill. At 200 start looking for gas! cb 1968 Triumph Bonneville 650 1971 Norton Commando Roadster 2002 Harley 1200 Sportster 2003 Honda ST 1300 2016 FJ
duhs10
Sounds like yet another thing the Tracer 900 GT and the FJ-09/MT-09 Tracer have in common.... imagine that. '15 FJ-09 w/ lots of extras... Fayetteville, GA, USA

krucymucy
One time my f-trip odometer showed 69km, about 42 miles. Find a neareast gas station when f-trip is displayed and you are safe. gerdawg
On any bike I've owned I've never looked at the fuel gauge to determine how much longer I have. Typically I'll go by miles that I've driven, that includes my cars as well. 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900 GT
roadwarrior
Remember the color display is adjustable as well. My 'main' screen shows the trip meter, fuel used, and fuel gauge, along with all the other information normally indicated.
vic
Ditto. It’s a nice feature to customise the screen fields. I’ve also set my screen to to show trip 2 and fuel used which I reset every time I fill up.
