sold my Tracer 900 last year the reason as for follows sorry if this upset some but this is just my opinion.

the engine is a peach but for annoying whine at around 58-67 mph. even wearing ear plugs doesn't help. must admit getting to old now for fast riding and if I fall I wont mend to easily.even put a bigger front sprocket to see if it'll move it up the rev range made no different. behind the dash it difficult to keep clean in other words its just a mess. Yamaha could of tidied it up like on the tracer 700. the seat is like a plank! could only last 30 miles before numb bum  creeps in. didn't like the clock(dash) it would either work or it didn't such a faff on getting things set like zero miles before setting off. never did like the dummy air scoop. it just top heavy while trying to maneuver on our country roads. can't lower because the sump is low to start with. hard her about a year and a half and only lost £700 so not to bad.  with that I bought another Tracer 700 and found that much better for my liking and riding two up is fine. this is what she looks like before I sold her and my new bike matt blue.

The CP2 engine in the Tracer 700 is a much smoother power plant than the CP3 power plant in the Tracer 900. Tracer 700 has the same engine as the Tenere 700 and I had one of those for 9 months and 3700 miles. Great engine and very smooth running!

Enjoy the Tracer 700, it looks very nice in the matte blue color.

The only positive I can take from this thread is that the 700 looks more ridiculous with the Givi topbox than my MT-09 Tracer does.

Edit: and that matt blue is gorgeous!

I've had one before the tracer 900

If you don't mind me asking; how tall are you?  I'm not sure I'd fit on a Tracer 700 (I'm 6') but my g/f might (5'2").

5'11 . 31" inside leg. not so much how tall you are its the inside leg that's matters.I have a friend who is 6ft tall but 30" inside leg and he rides the MT07. but not seen him for over a year with all this lock down we have or had.

Yep, totally fair, but it gives me the general idea.  Thanks.

I'm 6'0" / 34" inseam.  I'm hoping the Seat Concepts touring seat indeed gives me an extra .5" of height.  The taller, the better (on my FJ).

Anyway - hope you stick around!  Would love to see more of your Tracer 700.

I used an airhawk inflatable seat pad with the stock seat on my last bike when I was on a tour. I didn't need it for normal use but for longer journeys it gave an inch to an inch and a half of extra leg room. (it also doubled as an extra pillow on camping trips). I haven't used it on the Tracer yet as I just manage to flat foot on both sides at a stop.

Now that Yamaha is only going to sell the $15K GT version of the Tracer 9 in the US, I thought for sure they would bring the Tracer 7 here as a sort of replacement for the base model Tracer 9, but nope 😕
