Necessary will be a matter of opinion... it is definitely a beneficial upgrade however and an upgrade that I would recommend pursuing especially if you have or intend to add an aftermarket exhaust system. I also own and ride a '15. Had mine flashed by vcyclenut. 2wheeldynoworks is a great option as well.

Full face helmets with internal drop down visors.
duhs10 replied to 2linby's topic in FJ-09 Parts and Accessory reviews
I recently replaced my helmet and went with the RPHA 70 ST. Very pleased with the quality. There are a lot of different designs to choose from as well. HJC RPHA 70 ST Helmet | 10% ($41.50) Off! ... -
@sdwillie Is that a matte silver FJ/Tracer? The reason I ask is because I have a matte grey FJ and the Nelson Riggs magnetic tank bag i used prior to my SHAD polished the tank a bit where the magnets touched... no scratches but definitely polished the matte finish (thus the faux carbon vinyl you see on my tank in my pictures). Normally I have no reservations about magnetic tank bags but I would not recommend them on matte finishes given my experience.

I have a SHAD E-16 tank bag. Overall I like it. Wish there was a little more compartmentalization in the main part of the bag but no big deal. I did have an issue with the plastic cover of the cell phone holder separating from the fabric. Fixed it with some Gorilla Glue double sided tape.

Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) Adjustment
duhs10 replied to piotrek's topic in FJ-09 Tech Tips/How to's
You brought up a good point for others... I took all the slack out of my throttle cable and that helped the on/off throttle abruptness as well. I see you've already addressed this as well. -
Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) Adjustment

@rodb47 I agree with @betoney... Contact Dave and let him know what you are experiencing. I had him set mine up to start in A-mode with his "quick turn" throttle option which is the most aggressive throttle map and do not feel like mine is "snatchy" at all. -
Would you mind describing the issue you were having with the instructions? It may help someone else during a future install...

When the FJ-09/MT-09 Tracer first arrived to the market a very similar issue was discussed fairly often. The resolution 95% of the time was to adjust the shift lever or foot position in such a way that allows the lever to fully "reset" to its resting position between shifts. If you leave any pressure on the lever between shifts (whether you realize it or not) it can cause these symptoms you are describing... it was also reported most oftwn when shifting from first to second. I would recommend taking a look at the lever and paying extra attention to letting the lever "reset" and see if you notice a difference.

New member considering Tracer 900 GT

Although I agree that in stock form the throttle is a bit too snatchy.... My experience is not nearly this bad. Especially after my flash. I easily can hold a steady speed not matter the mph. -
Hahaha! That's how I feel about B mode on my FJ. Pointless....

I went from a 2008 Versys 650 to my 2015 FJ-09... the Versys was great but the FJ (Now Tracer) is better in most areas. Especially at putting a grin on your face. Not sure about the newer Versys. One thing you mentioned was snappy throttle on the Versys. In my experience the Versys was much more smooth than the FJ. The newer Tracers are supposedly better but the FJ's combination of throttle by wire and torque make for a snatchy throttle at times. Most have flashed the ECU to smooth it out among other things (is. remove limiter, better air/fuel mix, etc). That being said I think the GT/Tracer 900 or used FJ will fit your needs excellently. Just wanted to mention the throttle as I found the Versys to be much smoother than the FJ in terms of throttle. -
My '15 does not prime the fuel pump with the key on and the switch on stop.
-
I use both the key and the kill switch at different times. Never had an issue. Just depends on the situation as to which method I use. 85% of the time key only.
-
One of his other threads he explained it... he's actually owned several tracers. I think 3. It was just time for him, age and health wise, to hang it up....

If you look back in this thread there are a few links to companies that will ship the Bagster seat to the US. I ordered mine from Silverstonemotor.com without issues and free shipping. Ships from France and takes about 3 weeks to receive.

Should be legal everywhere... like in Europe. -
Would love to see what the front end of your bike looks like... got any pictures?

Everybody's copying the Tracer!

That Turismo Veloce is a beautiful bike.... check out Boris on Bikes older videos on YouTube... he owned one for awhile and it had all sorts of electrical gremlins, but the bike itself was beautiful. -
So... I rode in the rain today with the rear Bagster attached. I have not taken the time to swap out the rubber feet on the rear seat to minimize the gap in the rear that has been discussed in this thread. I would like to report that virtually no water made it under the seat. I was actually a bit surprised. I didn't get any pictures as proof because I was on my way into work and running a bit late but I did take the time to check. Regardless, I still plan to swap the feet out to lessen the gap.

@2and3cylinders I agree that there are suits that are a lot more complete in terms of all weather protection and armor. Aerostich being among the best of them. I have gear for the cold and rain already but its hot and bulky in the summer. I am interested in a leather suit i can wear for day trips into the mountains for example when i know the weather will be nice but would be a bit more comfortable than a track day style suit. Didn't know much about Held so thought I would ask. If I were looking for an actual "do anything in any type of weather" type of suit I would definitely be looking at the suits you mentioned in your post.
-
I've heard nothing but good things about aerostitch... the suit I was looking at is called the "spire." https://www.fc-moto.de/epages/fcm.sf/?channable=e78948.MTI4OTQ3ODcy&ObjectPath=/Shops/10207048/Products/Held-Spire-Leather-Suit-2-PC/SubProducts/Held-Spire-Leather-Suit-2-PC-0004&Locale=en_US&gclid=Cj0KCQiAovfvBRCRARIsADEmbRLPXkP1YeAiwhdsSXfD-UvJFeMjqDhipSnW-iHd-tKypd-rwFyH6z8aAmiAEALw_wcB

I've been wanting a leather riding suit, but not a "race" suit. I found a Held touring 2 piece leather suit which seems good, decent price too, but I know really nothing of the brand.... Anyone on here have any opinions/experiences regarding Held's motorcycle gear?

Finally got around to a ride... wasnt a long ride but my normal 40 minute commute to work. Really liked the seat. WAY better than stock and I would even say it is better than the Sargent as well. It felt plush but supportive. Wish I would have gone this route initially. The Sargent is still much better than stock but it just wasnt soft enough for me. It seems they focused more on keeping the seat low and dispersing the weight over a wider pan as opposed to more foam to absorb the pressure. Anyway happy with it. Might have a Sargent available soon if anyone is interested.
