  1. Cruise Control for Yamaha FJ-09 / MT-09 Tracer Save your wrist, fuel and licence with McCruise
  2. Getting the base Tracer for around $8k is a bargain, it can be modified to be 95% of the GT with aftermarket parts, the only thing you cant add is the TFT screen. Buying the base Tracer as a 'blank canvas' allows you to outfit it to suit your needs. Like @johnmark101 mentioned, heated grips and cruise control are two items that you don't know you need until you ride a bike without them.
  3. Ride 49 reasonably... 😄 I just have to say the word "Downieville" to my riding buddies and they all get a knowing smirk, mucho shenanigans! I truly don't think riders from other parts of the country can appreciate the level of riding that is available in your area, the entirety of N.Ca. is some of the most amazing riding I have ever experienced.👍
  4. Up until a few months ago I never even knew there was a interior nut to tighten, - on any bike, until reading a post on this forum. I have never had the base part swivel loose, I always have the upper mirror part move back slightly at higher speeds.
  5. Where is this Skyline Rd located? I couldn't find it in Google Maps. I am familiar with all of the other roads you mentioned, it sounds like you had a great day on the bike. My buddy lives in Bend, the next time I venture down that way I had planned on riding the roads through Warm Springs Reservation from Maupin, is the closure a permanent thing?
  6. Lesson learned several decades ago, - travel on the weekend prior or after but NEVER during any national holiday weekend. Traffic is one thing I can not purposely subject myself to.
  7. FI bikes have notoriously bad on/off jerky throttle due to fuel cut, some much worse than others (first gen FZ and FJ are especially bad) but engine tuners have had fixes to smooth out the throttle for many, many years. Bikes are meant to be enjoyed, no sense having to "get used to it" when the solution is available.🤷‍♀️
  8. FJ09 is listed separate from the Tracer. YAMAHA motorcycle accessories GIVI leader in Motorcycle Cases, Hardbags, Side Hardbags, Motorcycle...
  9. It's best to go through the process of measuring sag, Google will give you many, many articles and Youtube will help as well. Sag results and spring preload will tell you if you need heavier or lighter springs. The rebound damping (clicker) setting is more set to feel and is very subjective, if you add/tighten damping the 'bounce' will slow down. Depending on how you ride, you might want to increase or decrease some damping to get it comfortable to YOU.
  10. @iitywygms - Congrats on the new bike, I like the color combination. The mirrors can be tightened on the base of the mounts with a crescent wrench, I have never had to tighten the inside nut. One thing to check for the throttle is removing most of the cable slack, it can be adjusted on the cable itself- just a few inches from the throttle housing is an adjuster. Start the motor and adjust the cable tighter and turn the bars side to side and make sure the idle doesn't rise or hang. Twitchy throttle can also be remedied with an ECU flash, I'm sure there are many who 'can' flash it for you but the 3 main vendors are 2wheeldynorks, VCyclenut and Ivan's Performance. I will ALWAYS be an advocate for suspension setup, at least getting the proper sag set and potentially springs with the correct rate for your weight. The base Tracer doesn't have compression adjustment but there a few little tweaks available with spring rate and fluid viscosity. For a slip-on, since your bike has red accents, consider the Scorpion! Yamaha Tracer 900 Exhausts | Tracer 900 Performance Exhausts | Scorpion Exhausts Yamaha Tracer 900 Exhausts from Scorpion Red Power. Increase the power...
  11. I would call him and ask. On the FZ/MT09 forum, he seems to be THE choice for flashing and seems like a really good guy. He can answer all of your specific questions. Home store to purchase ECU flash for yamaha R1 R6 FZ09 FZ1
  12. I agree. My dealer has the T7's in stock and looking them over they are very dirt oriented, I would even say street legal dirt bike. For an 'adventure-tour' or trip, I would want something a bit more street oriented for a good mix of riding, and more comfortable for distance riding. It still looks like a fun bike for day trips or even an over nighter.
  13. How do you like the 700 compared to the 900? I have heard nothing but great things about that motor.
  14. Sorry to hear its out of stock, 8-10 days might be better than ordering from Europe though?
  15. @SuperMax - Check your local Cycle Gear, they carry Motul 7100.
  16. Maybe buy 1 more bottle just in case? 🤷‍♀️ When I change the oil, I fill it to about 3/4 the height on the sight glass (while upright, not on the side stand) , ride it a few blocks and then let it settle a few minutes, check level and add a bit more and ride it again. The CP3 motor likes the level to be a bit higher on the sight glass, right in the middle 'might' be a bit low.
  17. I love the bikes but have friends own them and read reports online for years that the $20K++ is just the entrance fee for ownership. There is a very real strategy to owning them just until the service warranty is set to expire and then trade-in for the next one.
  18. There have been a few similar posts on the FZ09 forum, some cured the issue by replacing the TPS.
  19. Agree with you, every report I have read on any CP3 valve adjustment (at least the first one) needed exhaust valve shims. I think @Buggy Nate might be the first and only to report 'perfect'.🏆
  20. I like those options. I haven't considered raising mine but have thought about installing a skid plate and getting a 2nd set of rims to quickly be able to swap to a dual sport type tire for light offroad riding.
  21. I would ask specifically about the TB sync, I haven't brought my bike to the dealer for service except the valve adjustment but several on here have reported that the TB sync was not done on the first service.
  22. Kind of late to ask now...😄 When I lift mine for tire changes or fork removal, I use a floor jack with a folded towel under the header. I find that a floor jack from the side is unstable, I always angle the jack from the front when lifting the bike.
  23. I hear you about "time is slipping away... SO many places I have never been and considering I live a few hours from the Canadian border, the possibilities to try something new are limitless. I have been doing a lot of reading on Super T forum and concerning the "sleepy" motor, - the cat in the exhaust is very restrictive and gears 1-3 have restrictions, an ECU flash is reported to work wonders to 'wake-up' the throttle response. In addition to all-day riding comfort, the biggest 'feature' that attracts me to the S10 is the reliability and longevity of the motor, like the FJR, there are many riders who have long ago exceeded 100-200k miles on their bikes.
  24. I have thought the save thing, have 2 bikes that cross over a bit, SPORT-tour and adventure-TOUR. As 'boring' as they are classified as, I have been seriously considering a used Super Tenere as I have been intrigued for years by riding to the Arctic Ocean... bullet proof 1200cc motor with shaft drive, cruise control, heated grips, electronic suspension, just add gas and tires.👍
  25. I don't think that is true, I have 4 year Y.E.S, don't use Yamalube and have never had the dealer change my oil. 🤷‍♀️
