1. There are a few FZ's around but I've only seen 1 used FJ in the area. I had to drive 400 miles to get mine when I was ready to buy.
2. I did somewhat the same thing on my master cylinder tops on my 1999 VMax. I put fine sandpaper in a 1X4 and sanded to top down to smooth except for the YAMAHA on the top. Then clear coated the aluminum. Turned out pretty nice for a home modification . Yours looks good too betoney.

4. Right you are sir. Tornadoes blow up inside thunderstorms in a circular motion. Hurricanes for us are a storm that starts in Africa, comes across the Atlantic then into the Gulf of Mexico and if we are unlucky it becomes land bound and strikes at the coast then moves inland. Being in Louisiana we have both tornadoes and hurricanes.
5. Thank you and texscottyd. I read a lot of news and things from all over the world. It was an article that said something like, Islanders "Traumatized"by volcano. WTH? If you are traumatized by the volcano you move. Come hell or high water you find a way to move. Me I live in tornado alley. If I was traumatized by tornado's I'd move. I'd find a place that felt safer to me. I lived in California from 1979 to 1986. Plenty of quakes, a big 1 too I remember. I think 1980? Also the Olympics in 1984. I lived in Venice Beach, The Eternal Carnival. 1/2 a block off the beach on Thornton Ave right across from the RTD station. Nothing like 250 or so buses rumbling/idling from 4 AM. I worked a factory job. Everest and Jennings Wheelchairs. I made the hand-rims to go on wheelchairs. The part you grab with your hands. Didn't care about quakes. Hey it's natural for where you are. Things move and you make sure nothing is above or close to you that can fall on you. Tornado's happen in tornado alley. It's home and it's what I'm used to. I have been in a school room under a desk as the tornado threw a trashcan through the window into the room. Just like it was yesterday. I have a healthy respect for the tornado, just like the bike can kill me. I have a healthy respect for the bike, LOL! And yes I'm getting up right now to get another, the 3rd highball glass with a couple of cubes in it and 2 to 3 oz. of good bourbon. It cures what ales ya! Yes I'm rambling....... 😁
6. Yes I did. It came close but missed us by a whisker! Oh yeah I'm in the Bible Belt so yeah missed us by the grace of GOD!
7. Oh hell yeah! The crawfish farmers are being hit hard this year. The restaurants were selling boiled drive thru but that hasn't been enough. I'm supossed to be in The Hill Country this weekend coming up but that's a no go. Hopefully it will be good the end of May for our Eureka Springs meet.
8. Must be the lighting, mine is natural and looks grey. I thought about the gold to go with the red and forks and such but at 79.00 for the natural 110 I stayed with natural.
9. And here's the new screw it on till it's tight then break off the bolts Master Link. He got the pretty gold one! Oh yeah, gotta have pix or it didn't happen, LOL! Here's my new chain! Mine's the EK Chain SRX2 Series Xring Sealed Natural Drive Chain
10. when I bought the bike used it had the soft bags from Hebco-becker. I bought the hard bag 22 liter cases because they use the same mounts I already had. That and 40 liters plus a 15 liter tank bag plus a 50 liter dry bag if I need it, LOL! 2 hard bags would be plenty but being older I like some of the extra comforts ya know......
11. That's what she said.....😱😱😱 I got the rear rack from Aliexpress.com. It's a knock off of Twisted throttles rack here; SW-MOTECH ALU-RACK Top Rack To Fit Many Top Case Styles for Yamaha FJ-09 '15-'17 - FJ-09 '15-'17 - Yamaha - Shop by Bike | TwistedThrottle.com

Features:

Li... it was less than a hundred to my door. And that's a SHAD 40 liter case with the top rack to strap stuff to if needed. Oh yeah, the shad comes with the plate to mount the top case too!
12. Same here, Street Triple R, suspension excellent right out of the box and the fuel injection is smooth as butter........ Yet here I am with a red 2015, smilin' over 'ere at 2/3's the price, 2nd owner, 2348 miles when I got it 2 years ago, 7 grand. Used Street Triple R was 9 to 10 grand? Am I remembering correctly?

14. Hoping it will be open by mid September. That's our yearly trek to the smokies. metallion you might be in luck. American Flat Track, NHRA and others are scheduling races starting the end of May. Actually we might both be lucky. I have a trip to Eureka Springs, AR the end of May. Still not sure on the mid to late April trip to The Hill Country. My roommate there is like me, 60+ and pre-conditions. We will use good judgement and decide close to the date. Don't worry, I'm not going to die just to do a motorcycle trip. I do 5 to 7 trips a summer. I'm just 150 miles, 2 1/2 hours from miles and miles of Ozark twisties. There are a few 3 day weekend trips. I usually do a full week in NC because it's 725 miles each way. It's 1 full day of trailering each way. But not bad with 2 people switching off driving. The next few months will be interesting!
15. Do you know which EK he put on it? I use this EK and they excellent. EK Chain - 525SRX2-110 - 525 SRX2 Series Chain, 110 Links - Natural for sale online | eBay Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for EK... You can get EK chains that don't even have orings. They are like the old chains we had in the late 60's and 70's. Don't last long either but they are cheap. You can get a few different grades. There are cheap oring chains like this; 520X118 SRO6 O-Ring Chain EK Chain 520SRO6-118 Solid rollers and entended anti-kink bushings increase chain... Heck the cheap one even has drilled links to lighten it. The 525SRX2 like I have even has drilled links in between the outer links to lighten them. I ran EK's on both my ZX11 and ZRX1100, 530 instead of 525 of course. Ran the ZRX1100 for 30,000 miles before it needed changed. only had to tighten it 3 times in 30,000 miles. Stiff links were the culprit and just the start of a tight spot. I use kerosene and a chain brush to clean it and Motol I think, chain lube. A bit messer than chain wax but I'm old school and want a oil type film on the outside for rust prevention. Plus it comes in a 2.5 or 3 oz aresol can that's small and I take it on trips so I can lube on the fly. love that center stand. Tell us how it comes out.
16. OK, got out today on put on the new chain. I had kept the maint up on the stock chain but after having an EK chain on both Liter bikes I had before, maybe it was psychosomatic, but it didn't feel as smooth as new. With right around 12,000 miles on the bike the sprockets weren't worn and I tightened up the stock and checked it for a tight spot and not 1 even though I was sure I felt it, LOL! Thought about a tooth smaller on the front to maybe give it more engine braking in 2nd and 3rd. Oh well, weighed the difference of more engine braking and more on throttle buck when going on and off throttle through the corners and decided to leave the gearing stock and leave on the stock sprockets. The master link is deceiving tightening it down. Thought I had it tight. Looked pretty much the same width as the links next to it. I know, I hadn't gotten off my arse to get the electronic caliper, crucify me OK. It was eating into my palm pretty good with a short 10mm craftsman closed end wrench. I put a rag on the end of the wrench and tightened it up another 10 turns till it wouldn't turn anymore. I screwed off the nuts then and you could see it was well up on the shoulder of the master link. Very easy with channel locks to break off the ends, then a little grind with the grinder and viola! Took 1 hour total from walking out of the house till washing my hands in the sink inside. For 79.96 on ebay for the chain, 110 link, heck it's cheap.....uh inexpensive I mean. 17. I haven't had that problem on this bike but for those that have.......a fix!
18. 6'2" and use this. I tried a taller shield but didn't like it. The top flopped around in the wind at 70 or more. Very g.
19. I'm 60.....I'm never warm and toasty. I live in NW Louisiana and I have a feeling I didn't move far enough south, LOL! I use heated grips at 60 degrees and up to 70-75.
20. This is why I love the X-Ring chain. The 530 I put on my ZRX1100 with ZX11 cams was on there 30,000 miles and I had to adj it twice. And it wasn't worn out by a long shot when I sold it. X-Ring chain and Vortex Steel Sprockets. Here's a pic of the ZRX1100, Eddie Lawson Replica. Dang that Muzzy was LOUD!!!!!! Sounded like a jar full of hornets, LOL!
21. This is a friends 1290 Super Duke. He is in Arkansas, is an immigrant from Romania and guess what he teaches??? Gymnastics of course. He rides a KTM, a Ducati Dravel and a Gen 2 VMax. He has taken full advantage of the American Dream!!!! AND good for him! Don't have a pic of his VMax. Nice looking 390. What is the weight and RWHP on it? I'm looking for something like that or a Super Motard, 400cc or so.
