  1. I'm running the redesigned Roadsmart IIs and I have no pros or cons on them. They seem to be your average ST tire. Good grip, wet or dry. Wear is good so far, 2,400 on the rear and some wear but not bad. I usually get about 3,200 to 3,600 miles out of a rear and these might last longer, we'll see. I still have an extra rear, I buy 2 rears to 1 front. Should last till next spring. I tried the Angel GT on the rear and it preformed well. Got 3,600 I think and grip was good, wet or dry. Still not the confidence inspiring feel of sportbike tires. I'm thinking of going to the Bridgestone S22, not an ST just a sportbike tire on the recomendation of betoney. Going to 1 of the guys in our group to try his No-Mar tire changer. He says it's easy, just need the Technic. He will show me. If it's that easy I'll get 1 myself and can spoon on Sportbike tires at will, 😁 👍. Watching the MOTO GP race this morning and my bike feels like their bikes look going into corners. The rear tire seems to slide a bit as they brake hard with the front and the rear gets light. I use the rear brake just a smidgen to "set" the rear going into corners. With sportbike tires I get 1,200 to 1,800 miles out of a rear and can do most trips, that's 1 meet per rear on sportbike tires. They don't last long but man are they inspiring!!! betoney tells me when the Bridgestone tire rebates are on so I have my own alarm built into this site, Thanks betoney!!
  2. betoney, after I saw the 2020 Ninja 1000 review where they gave kudos to the Bridgestone Battlax S22 Hypersport I'm interested. I'll probably wait for the spring or summer sale next year. I still have a new Roadsmart II rear and only 2,400 miles on the current front and rear. So don't want to buy 'em and have them sit till next fall or so. I know they will have another sale then. 1 of the guys in or group has a No-Mar Tire Changer. I'm going to use it and see how it goes. Him showing me how to change a tire correctly. So if it's as easy as he says, Technic, Technic, Technic as he says, I'll end up getting 1 and switch back to sport bike tires that don't last me long but man the confidence! He changes his rear tire after every trip. He has a Gen 2 VMax and smokes the rear in 2nd every time we leave from a stop sign, LOL! I've run a set of the "New" Roadsmart II's because of the price, $166.00 for a set for our bikes but not the stupid grip you get from sport-bike tires. Thanks for the tip! saving money is saving money!!!!
  3. I use these. Have them for 6 years now and will be ready over the winter to get a new set. Have kept my feet dry in the biggest downpours. I also have a EE Wide foot and these come in regular and wide sizes. I wear a 11.5 EE in New Balance. I wear a 12 wide, that's in this boot and they are perfect. Still keeping my feet dry for 6 years. I remember I got these blemished for $89.00. At $129.00 they are still an excellent value. 4. Yes from the back those cases are huge. When you back up does it go, beep, beep, beep, LOL! You can tell you have a woman coming with you. Really tho, it looks like you have plenty of room for pretty much everything, have fun!
  5. Welcome from N W Louisiana. I'm an hour and a half south of the Arkansas border. I do many 3 day trips up into the Ozarks plus a couple of meets. 1 in Eureka Springs and the other in Mountain Home. Best roads I've ridden except for The Smoky's in NC. wmailhos sometimes I meet my friends from Texas in Mena and we either ride the Pig Trail on up to Eureka or 28 to 27 on up into the Push Mountain area or Hwy 125 just above the Peel Ferry. On the way home I sometimes ride over the Talimena with them to a Grateful Dead Pizza place. 2WHLOZK you picked a nice state to call home. Enjoy the Tracer, nice bike for the roads your riding.
  6. micah, you got to ride the roads I ride 3 to 4 times a year. I live in NW Louisiana and am just 3 hours from the base of hwy 7. There are so many roads to ride in Arkansas. Next time you travel get a Butler Map for wherever you go. It will guide you to which roads to ride. Glad you had a great time! Regional Maps – Butler Motorcycle Maps
  7. Hummm, hard to say. While the Tracer 900 is homologated to carry only 169kg That's 372 Lbs and you and your girl are 410 lbs even before gear at approx. 20 lbs a piece. Then you add the weight of the side cases and stuff packed in them is probably another 60 to 80 lbs. Are you going to use a top case? There's another 60 to 80 lbs too. The weight of the rack, top case and stuff inside. So your at 450 lbs. just the 2 of you with gear on plus 80 lbs cases and stuff is 530 lbs. That's 158 lbs over. 158 lbs over is almost half the total weight allowed. Maybe an FJR is what you are looking for to be safe. Also the weight on your bike will be on the 4 bars holding up the seat, bags, rear light assy. Yes it's on your suspension but it is mainly on those 4 bars. Just spit balling here.
  8. Go here to get your tires; Avon Trailrider AV54 Dual Sport Rear Motorcycle Tire | Tires and Wheels | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC *Super Rich Silica Compound using the very latest compounding... $309.00 for the set instead of $525.00
  9. betoney, I have some friends, Barry and Edie. Barry introduced me to a lot of great roads in the Ozarks. He and Edie retired to Placitas, MN from Arkansas. It's just south of Colorado. Will be doing the Rockies in the next few years. betoney, if you get the chance, it's a bit from the west coast but north east Kentucky around Paintsville, KY has a lot of good riding too.
  10. Thanks!!!! Got the package of parts and bits. I know how the chain adjs work and the cruise control. Might take a minute on how to mount the light bar/assy, not sure what it's called. Do you have a picture of it in a parts fish or on a bike? I can tell this 1 hasn't been on a bike. No screw tighten down marks. And again, thanks!

I kind of went through the same thought process with the fog light bracket. After a while I decided that I don't ride enough at night to worry about it.

Here is a link to a picture of it and the PN for the whole kit is 2PPF85A30000.

Yeah at 61 I don't ride much at night but I thought I might hook up some lights for driving in the rain, so people see me or maybe fog lamps. I do ride the mountains in the fog. Thanks for the picture. I googled the mount, kit, etc. and didn't get anything. I just googled the part number and saw the complete kit. They are proud of it but PIAA and other lights can be pricey.

We used to ride the dragon at 1 to 3 am back in the late 90's early 2000's. Those were the days. Not built up near like it is now. No restaurant, store, fire pit and nice motel office like it is now. Just a small building by 2 gas pumps, to take money for gas and rent out rooms. only 8 rooms back then I think. 1 night Dave went to bed early and left his door unlocked. We put Marcus's VMax in the door, cranked it up and started smoking the tire. Smoked Dave out. Rubber all over the back wall and on the ceiling.  No Killboy across the street. People used to pull track bikes out there and run them back and forth all day. There was hardly any traffic back then. Back when I just turned 40 or so.

    HWY 93

Those are some excellent vistas. 1 thing I found really different was a Breakfast and Pizzeria pic. I haven't seen that here in the states but I'm guessing it must work since they are open. Nice write up, Thanks!

  13. The Amber is a good middle of the road beer. You can drink it all day at Mardi Gras! Go ahead, you CAN ask me how I know, LOL!
  14. Just went for a ride since it was 71 instead of 81 this morning at 7AM. Got out and road till about 11AM. Back roads out here by Lake Bistineau. Our lake has tons of cypress trees that are full of Spanish Moss. Real scenic. Stopped a few times and took pix of the journey. Notice the store is closed up but the windows are painted like they still open. It was nice for it to feel a bit chilly with the mesh jacket on for the 1st hour. After that it was just right. Just as I got home it was getting hot. Says it was 87 and felt like 106. Yeah this is southern humidity! Still a fun bike too. 😁
  15. That 700 looks fun! I went to 1 bike to pay less insurance. Well it's 2 actually, an FJ09 and a Yamaha ZUMA, 50cc 2-smoke. I don't really count the ZUMA as a motorcycle, it's a scooter. And it's only 21 bucks every 6 months. Did have a ZXR1100 and a ZX11 and the ZUMA. Now I'm entertaining a Suzuki 400 super Motard to add to the stable. So I think 2 bikes is perfect, even though I went to 1 to pay less insurance, save money, etc. Still might switch back to 2 bikes. Then I think of spending the money and my Jewish Mom steps into my head and tells me it's not a need thing, just a want thing or she says Oh-vey. So yeah we'll see how it goes......
  16. ......... in the second sentence he said he did this on his BMW.
  17. If I have to pull the cams to do a valve adjustment I use a torque wrench but as far as axles, brakes, oil plug, etc I do it by feel for 55 years. And yes to anti seize on brake bolts, axle and spark plugs. Also I thought about it and my bikes are always stored indoors, climate control. I really haven't had rust or oxidation problems before with those bolts or any on the exterior of the bike. It's not until the last couple of bikes that I haven't trailered them to meets, 5X10 cargo trailer. Now I ride the FJ to Arkansas and Texas meets but NC and Kentucky rides I trailer.
  18. Known in our business as a POR. Power Off Reset.
  19. Wondered the same thing. My stockers work well. You have to remember I've been slowing down a ZRX1100 and a big ole heavy ZX11 at 618 Lbs. At 462 Lbs. this 1 is much easier to slow down than them. But hey if it's a noticable difference.......for 76 bucks I'm in.
  20. I've had mine since the late 90's. Got my 1st Gen 1 VMax, a 1994, yellow Max in 1998 and found out you need to set the vacuum on the carbs every 4,000 miles or so. If a VMax has a lope at idle it isn't the cams as some would say it's the vacuum is off. It should idle smooth. Having 3 Gen 1 VMaxes I've used it regularly and it's a great tool that I've never had to buy Mercury for. I don't know if you get it with a case now days like in the picture but I had to buy my case separately. Yup, a great tool for sure..... 😁
  21. Even without a turbo. Just think how light our bikes would be with a triple 2-stroke, fuel injected so it runs clean. Now that would be fun!
