  1. I understand totally. I ride with Gen1 and Gen2 VMaxes, Aprilia Tuonos, Z100 Ninjas. It's tough at times coming out of the curves onto a couple mile straight stretch. They just kick it to 5th and blip it to 150-160 and I'm back there flogging the ole FJ. Been really thinking of going the full monte and getting the MT-10. We're still not talking the 197-200 HP of the Gen2 VMaxes but I'm not at the top of 700 almost 800 lbs. either. Be more like the Aprilia but not having to have a mechanic named Tony on speed dial. The MT10, with some suspension work and a set of hard bags, I'm right there with the Gen1 and Gen2s having to have gas every 100 miles. But hey, when you want over 150 HP gas mileage is irrelevant. It's the "SPORTY" Tourer. And I'm not having to work back through the pack to get to 2nd or 3rd in line. Yes, I feel your pain.
  2. I'm shopping at Rocky Mountain and the S22s and the T32 are both out of stock.
  3. Not sure if anyone else has spoken up. If it's cheap enough to buy the totaled bike back, that's "IF" they total it. I would like forks, rear shock and I think you had cruise installed. That's if you don't buy a what is it, 2017 or older you can use those yourself. Any way, whatever happens, 1st DIBBS! LOL! If no one else has...

The biggest issue I have with taking parts off my current bike is I don’t have the factory parts to replace them with.

I can guarantee that I would not go through the hassle of removing the Mccruise, it required splicing into the wiring for the ECU, TPS and cylinder 1 ignition coil. Additionally, I bought the factory FJR switchgear and custom wiring harness, I wouldn’t have a clue what parts need to be removed or altered to sell it as a useable unit.

No betoney, just saying if the frame is tweaked and they total it, a lot of times you can buy it on the cheap. If you buy a newer FJ that is like 2018 or later I think the parts won't fit it. So you buy the totaled bike on the cheap and pull parts and sell them and make some money to buy the new suspension parts, etc. to fix it up. If you decide to buy the totaled bike and you get a 2016 or 2017, or even a 2015 low miles you can put your parts off the totaled bike on yours, suspension, etc. If the frame is tweaked, you have no reason to put the stock parts back on it. You won't resell the bike you'll either use the parts on your new bike or if your new bike is a newer model that the parts don't fit you sell these parts to get money to custom your new bike. That's all I was saying betoney.

  4. As if it wasn't going to be hard enough as it is to make a decision!
  5. The new Tracers are nice. I was torn when getting the Tracer about the Kawasaki 1000 Ninja. The new 1 is really nice. Also the is the "Touring" MT10. If you call a 100 mile between fill-ups a touring bike. I have a lot of friends with Gen1 and Gen2 VMaxes that tour on them, 100 miles at a time on gas. Lots of choices out there. Good luck with a choice if you need to make 1, LOL!
  6. Yes I've done that a time or 2. Chasing Clay, 1 of our best riders, I really have to watch the front wheel. It came up a bit on my ZRX1100 but this thing is wheelie prone to start off with. The GPS does help me to know which way the road goes over hills. That can make the hill tops much faster, and again, the front wheel is skyward, LOL!
  7. Sorry to hear this betoney. Glad you're OK. Material things can be replaced. You on the other hand are a limited edition. Glad you're OK.
  8. Yeah, living down south we have cold snaps during the winter. Once every 3 to 5 years we get snow or an ice storm usually in February. Hope the Desert west just has cold snaps also! Just thought about it. It depends on your altitude. I rode to Santa Fe New Mexico in October of 83 for a Dead show on my 1976 CB750. Rode from Venice Beach Ca. Yeah I brought 1 pair of jeans and 1 flannel shirt. Thought it's October, it's the desert, it will be like Venice beach. Didn't figure in the altitude.
  9. Been nice here in NW Louisiana and East Texas. Did 358 miles yesterday and it didn't even seem like it. Went to a new eatery called Kitt's Cornbread Sandwich and Pie Bar. http://kittskornbread.com/ Had the cornbread Club w/broccoli salad and chips. I start to say to him, Love that set of triple digit curves...he stops me in mid sentence and says. Yeah we'll call that spirited riding, what do ya say. So yeah, we had a great day of spirited riding. Rode on Friday, Christmas eve and it looks like I'll ride again today since the wind is again kicking up so leaf raking is out of the question. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and got their bike everything it wanted, LOL!

    Got her !!!!

That's great! Enjoy the new to you 2015.
  11. I wanted a SL350 so bad as a youngster, 11-13. When I was 13 I got a SC500 2-stroke Yamaha. Hell of a bike when it ran, LOL! I love the ole carbureted bikes.
  12. I use the 2015 FZ09 bar ends myself. 15 bucks each as I remember.
  13. I was trying to tell them this without bursting their bubble....but oh well. A little late for that, LOL!
  14. All I know about riding Florida is... I had a chance to buy a place from a friend who's aunt passed and the place was in coco beach just below Daytona. Went to check it out. Florida is the opposite of North Carolina's 11 miles and 318 curves. I have heard the Keys are a good time. March should be pretty good on temps and humidity. With flat straight roads you should be able to cover a good bit of ground everyday. I don't think there are any technical roads in Florida, women in bikinis, Check!!!!
  15. I think your bike is signaling you it's ready, wink, wink. I have been eyeing this mod myself. Thinking maybe I wouldn't be sliding my rear tire into corners as much. Might get better life. This is the Bridgestone S22.
  16. I know. I had the chance to do heated on my Sargant Seat but didn't. I know they have the option and I do like my seat. Just not high enough on the list for the extra buckaroos. It would also be a buy it like that option to me. Not gonna take the seat apart then fit the heating element. Then reassemble the seat, to much sugar for a dime at this point. I wish you luck with finding the correct option for you. Oh yeah, Just remembered. I don't ride in temperatures lower than my age so the mid 60s on up and I'm riding. Colder than that, I'm working around the house waiting for a day later in the week to ride. I live down south. We park our bikes in August for maintenance. Oh, now I see your in NE PA, God love ya!!!!
  17. Was there in September, rode the green eyed snake, the back of the dragon, tail of the dragon, cheroholla skyway, 28 moonshiners, etc, etc. This is just north of the green Eyed Snake, 421 NC.
  18. That's the tank bag I use. The Motech City Bag. Carries all your essentials...AND the kitchen sink, LOL!
  19. Maybe with a twin it will be light weight!
  20. This was me also. A whopping 47 HP!!!! That's the same with the 1100cc, we will see what the HP is. I'm sure that NC750X would last pretty much forever with the low HP output. It wouldn't stress anything on the bike. That 1100 would need at least 120 HP at the rear wheel to pull me in. If I do anything after the FJ-09 it would probably be the MT 10, who cares if ya only get 100 miles before reserve. I ride with VMaxes and some of them, Gen2s, are signaling the lead rider at 85-90 miles, GAS, GAS, GAS!!!! There has to "Sport" in Sport Touring.
  21. You like me seem to like lefts better than rights. I'm left handed. Not sure if that makes a difference.
