  1. I just covered ~4000 kilometers in the last couple of weeks. Sargent seat was not yet available, and I was NOT about to ride that much with the stupid stock seat. I did that last year and it was horrible. The worst part for me was sliding into the tank, because the stock seat slopes forward to the seat. Very bad IMHO. Having to correct your seating position every 5-10 minutes gets tedious when you ride the whole day, many days in a row. So I bought the Yamaha OEM Comfort Seat. Just trying it on the bike, it immediately felt worse(!). Like the seat was split in two with a line down the middle. Felt like the two things on the seat was high as mountains. Something had to happen, so I took home the seat anyway, and started taking of the cover. This is what I found: I simply can't understand the reasoning behind this! The low part makes the foam so thin that, after a couple of hours riding, you can feel the metal hardware used for locking the seat to the bike! It also makes the seat uncomfortable IMHO. WTF Yamaha! I don't have any pictures of it, but I went out and bought some seat foam (50kg, quite dense but not completely hard as wood) and with a thin box cutter hobby knif blade (https://i.imgur.com/73ufw18.jpg) I cut out a triangle and mounted it on the seat. It's not perfect, but it almost feels like the seat is flat, like I wanted. The two weird "lines" can also be seen in the picture where I have taken off the cover. It feels like there's just some cotton inside it. It's not gel (thank god) and it doesn't hold heat better than other areas of the seat (as gel would). I might try to put on another cover without those weird lumps, but as of now, I'm quite pleased with the seat. It doesn't slope and push me into the tank, it's a bit taller than the stock seat which gives better comfort for the knees/legs and it's quite comfortable. I drove 500km every day for 8 days in a row and it worked fine. Much better than the stock seat. I might buy a Sargent Cycle Seat when it comes out, but I will definitely wait for reviews before throwing money at it.
  2. Not that it's helping much, but the same thing happened on my XSR900 (same engine). Was not a power problem, as I tried boosting the battery with a running car. No help. Just filled the tank completely and waited. Then it suddenly could start again. My guess is probably a problem with the immobilizer! If someone gets this problem again, could they please try the red master key and report if it helped?

  4. All headlight protectors look so ugly I have never heard of anyone on a motorcycle having a broken headlight lens, other than when crashing

  7. I saw a guy called Frenk on a Facebook group make a GPS bracket mount so I copied him and made my own. I'm posting some pictures as an inspiration for you guys. Before making this mount I had the GPS mounted in the middle of the handlebar. Not an ideal position as I had to look down and take my eyes away from the road, to see the screen. As for metal I bought a L shaped bracket in a local hardware store. Bent it a little and shaped it with a grinder to make it a bit smaller and fit the GPS mount better. Drilled new holes and painted it black. It's not so nice looking, fortunately for me it's mostly hidden. 🙂 Frenk installed his on top of the screen adjuster but mine couldn't fit there, because of my taller touring screen. When mounted there I would not be able to take off the GPS. I thought about making some more bends to the bracket, but instead I chose to install it below/on the handle that adjusts the position of the screen. The way it is installed, the weight of the GPS helps put pressure on the locking mechanism, helping it to stay shut. I surely had my reservations about this, but I think it will work. It's a be if the plastic will hold or not, but I think it will. Feel free to ask questions or comment.

  9. I can only recommend it! I'm 186cm tall and it has stopped the buffeting and the harsh noise when riding. I still get wind on my helmet, but it's not so bad as before

  11. Checked what out? That the bike feels slow? It' i just my opinion. It is the slowest and most tame bike I have ever owned. Even compared to my previous bike (XSR900) that shares the same engine, the Tracer GT feels slower, probably because it has more weight and that I'm shielded from the wind.
  12. As someone driving lots of highway kilometers, I too would like the 6th gear to be much taller/higher.. The RPMs are to many. But I don't want to change the gearing on the bike, because I think it's already slow enough in acceleration as it is. Don't want it any slower. Just higher geared in 6th
  13. I find that it works best when not full on the throttle. And instead of shifting at 10k rpm, I shift at around 6500rpm, that makes it easier.. And if changing at a too low rpm, it will also be chunky. When I do get the shifts correct and everything works as intended, it's a cool feature. But often it doesn't work 100% optimally and then it's irritating. Making me wonder what I'm destroying..
  14. If you can hear a lot of wind at 70+ you need to protect your hearing. I'm just saying it, so you can go free from getting tinnitus. I scored me some tinnitus, and I'm not a concert goer. I think it comes from riding without earplugs. Now I will always have that high pitched ringing in my ears and it sucks!
  15. I owned the XSR900 before my GT. It's the same CP3 Yamaha engine. I could still hear the XSR900 whine in 6th gear.

  17. The OEM Yamahas look like this: It's not my video, but I have to OEM blinkers and they are quite good. Very visible flashing also in daylight. They are expensive, but I think they're worth it.
  18. The Rukka Virium gloves I have is completely waterproof and comfortable.
  19. I use Goretex gear and it keeps me dry. It's the only thing I've tried that works. Boots are Daytona GTX, some summer touring boots. Quite new but have been tested in lots of water. Completely dry. Rukka Virium GTX Gloves. New for me, and maybe a bit to hot in the summer. I always have an extra airy and non-waterproof gloves with me on touring.. Rukka Pants and Held Jacket. Both Gore tex, but I will upgrade both to GoreTex Pro Shell! Right now, the jacket can take in water on the surface, and it becomes heavy.. But it still doesn't let it through the gore tex membrane.. On the Pro Shell, the Goretex is baked into the outer most layer. So it will always just be completely dry and light. https://www.gore-tex.com/technology/original-gore-tex-products/pro I will probably buy everything from Rukka. Nice stuff, although expensive. But easier to get in Denmark than Klim.

  22. Still no cruise control on the Versus 1000? On a 2018 cruiser? And it weighs 250 kg.. fat bike! And the price in Denmark is way higher on the Versys - $5500 USD.
  23. I think the corbin seat has the grand-dad / 1980's look :-/ But I really need a better seat than the stock..
  24. I recently went on a tour down through Europe and in Germany they have quite a large range from 92 and 95 (being equal to American 91 and 93). Then they also have SuperPlus which is 98, Shell V power at 100-101 and some OMV stations have octane 102! We tried everything and to be honest I couldn't feel any difference at all.
