  1. Not sure if you are aware but on the Tracer you can also disable the cruise control by closing the accelerator passed the stop point. This does it in a way which is a lot less intrusive than by activating the brake or clutch. Might be worth checking if the Niken has the same option.

  3. We have the shittiest roads imaginable here in Malta so i regularly have the TCS kick in around 100kph. Really shuts down the bike. The roads are so bad sometimes you put your foot down when stopped and you feel it sliding away from underneath you.
  4. Hey all, So after 5,500 km my front tyre tread was down to (flush with) the marker whilst the rear still had plenty of life left in them (my guess would be close to 50%). On all previous bikes I have owned I would use 2 rears for every front. Is it normal on this bike to wear the front out so quickly when compared to the rear? Other useful information: rider weight: 90kg, suspension is stock and i have just stiffened the stock settings (am no guru so i can't say sag and everything is correctly set), tyres were the stock OEM tyres. Riding style in general is drive it like you stole it.
  5. I am personally very happy with the GT stock seat when riding solo although find it very uncomfortable with a million as I end up getting pushed forward which doesn't happen when riding solo.
  6. The MT-09 doesn't have hard panniers so tail tidies will be too wide for the GT. Be careful when buying tail tidies for the GT as they often don't bother factoring in the panniers. Evotech had this and in an email they told me they should fit even though i clearly demonstrated to them that they won't by providing measurements. They now carry a disclaimer saying they won't fit with hard luggage but still list them as compatible with the GT. Go figure??!!! R&G racing are the only ones i saw that actually have a pic with the tail tidy and panniers so they are the only ones i would trust at this stage.
  7. The older Tracer and MT09 tail tidies won't fit the GT due to the hard luggage. The only one that I know of that will fit is the R&G one but the indicators get hidden behind the boxes.
  8. The stock tires aren't great, but I don't feel the need to change them before they wear out. However, once the rear wears out i will definitely change them out to another brand. As already stated above, the tires get the job done and I regularly end up getting it low enough to scrape the peg (and centrestand) when cornering during spirited rides. Having said that I haven't got much experience of them in the rain
  9. Anyone know the differences between the MTT850D and MTT09DK GT's?
  10. Hmm.. Mine is the MTT850D. I didn't realise they had revised it. Would be cool to know the difference.
  11. I think you are mixing up 10k km with 6k miles. Mine printed manual states both
  12. Lol, this thread is amusing me. The triangle is standard on all cars and motorcycles. Every bike i've ridden has had one, and all in more or less the same place
  13. @johnmark101 - my GT does the same. I hear the initial fuel pumping and then with the engine off and ignition on a continual high pitch buzz can be heard until I start the engine or turn the engine off
  14. To answer your questions: Yes, it is just the colour that is different. You do not need to buy the relay as the indicators came with relays included. This is where it gets tricky. Install the relays on the back indicators but don't put any on the front. When you install all 4 the hazard lights stop working after 20 flashes. When you install the 2 as instructed above they work fine (you will also have a normal flash rate). I have the same indicators on mine so am talking from experience
  15. Have you tried playing with the suspension settings to make it softer?
  16. Try fitting Grip puppies over the stock hand grips. They are foam so are a lot softer. They also have the advantage of not blocking the heat from the heated grips, and also do wonders to reduce the Triple's vibrations. The only downside is that they increase the grip circumference considerably so take a little getting used to.

    SAT NAV

I previously had an old school Tomtom rider 2 and have switched to smart phones maps now (Sygic and Copilot - I prefer Sygic). I don't think i would invest in another motorcycle GPS. Having said that; The biggest issue is keeping them cool enough and glare from the sun. Mobile/Car sat navs : Pro: Cheaper than motorcycle Sat Navs: Con: Don't have anti-glare, Don't have motorcycle touch friendly screens, aren't waterproof. Mobile specific Pro: 1 device instead of 2 mounted to your handlebar (phone and GPS in 1) and only 1 device requiring a power source Con: They get very hot and need good air flow. If you use them in a closed tank bag they often get so hot they turn off to protect the device being damaged. If the mobile breaks, you lose communication and GPS capability. Car Sat Nav specific : Con: Often don't support bluetooth and don't have motorcycle mounting options Motorcycle Sat Nav specific: Pro: Glove friendly, good anti-glare, waterproof, and often has the option of choosing more scenic routes for motorcycles
  18. What i mean is sliding the axle back along the chain adjustment notches. When the chain is shot you'll be near the last adjustment notches with the chain still being out of freeplay spec. It's at this point the chain definitely needs to be changed (assuming it doesn't develop stiff spots or other physical damage before then). Correct. The GT free play spec is between 35-45mm
  19. Chains flex. That's normal. The markers on the side of the swing arm near the axle bolt tell you when the chain is at the end of the permittable stretch so continue adjusting until you get close to the end of the markers. When adjusting the chain, just keep an eye out for stuck joints and damage such as broken linkages
  20. Makes sense. If you had to put 2 in then the hole was definitely too big.
  21. Any idea why the worm unplugged itself? Have used them a couple of times and they always lasted a few 1000k's until the next tyre change? Did you not push it in far enough, or perhaps not leave enough outside the tyre to form a bump outside the tyre?
  22. Living on an island 27km x 15km it's the entire island; Quick ride or long ride
  23. Your first port of call should be to see if the spot lights, switch or even a fuse it the problem. The easiest way to do this is by using a voltmeter to check output
