  1. The clutch and the brake switch both work the same. The plunger on the switch is depress and as you pull on the lever the plunger comes out . The first click dsengages the cruise control the second click turns on the brake light. You need to listen on the brake lever switch as well as the clutch lever switch to make sure you hear both clicks.
  2. Yamaha heated comfort seat 4. a bit more comfortable 4. slope is a bit better With that said I have a friend with the stock seat and can not stand my comfort seat. He recently road a 4 day trip and had no issues, can not understand my dislike with the stock seat. To each their own I guess.
  3. I have done throttle body sinks on three different tracer GT‘s all of them have a different screw paint ed. It seems Yamaha just picks a cylinder and paints that screw head no rhyme or reason to it. The oil in the air box is normal although I have not seem it in the caps, but my sample size is only three so may not be unusual. I have bought the rubber caps at auto parts stores.
  4. I also have Ivan’s flash on my 2019 GT. Never any smell and the bike runs great with none of your symptoms. good luck on a solution.
  5. Know where you are starting from so you can return if you get loss. Experiment try different setting until you find what works for you and the way you ride. There are no wrong settings if they work for you. We are all different so each will have setting that work for them . Adjust test ride, adjust test ride, ect until you get what makes you happy.
  6. You know the factory manual explains this and a whole lot more.
  7. In sales that is call the reduction to the absurd.
  8. Once you install the 8983 and get some miles on it the price will be soon forgotten. Besides when you sell the bike you put the stock shock back on (not a hard job) and sell the 8983 for at least 1/2 of what you paid for it.
  9. 130 mm is not low but higher than the 175 mm stock setting . You measure down to the oil with out the springs in the fork. The oil level affects the air shock above the oil. The more oil the less air to compress and harder to bottom out under hard braking. For myself I found that 150mm works for the way I ride.
  10. Thanks, Shizzle, I forgot I had this site bookmarked, have not used it in a long time. God getting old sucks. First your memory goes then something else, but I can’t remember what.
  11. Does anyone know where to source the Tanshi.040 Male Turn Signal Connector? thanks in Advance.
  12. Yamajank Where did you splice into the wiring for the handguard lights? Also any other tips to help keep me out of trouble. thanks
  13. Thanks for the reply. On my K1600 GT when I had it, I had amber running lights and when I would ride in a group everyone said they always knew where I was because of the amber lights. For myself I would keep the turn singles and add this mod. As it would add great visibility. I want people to know where I am and what my intentions are.
  14. Yamajank, been wanting to do this Sence I got the bike. Looks good. Any info on how would be most appreciated. I would go all amber.
  15. When it comes to suspension tuning my advice is to always work with somebody local that you can talk to and they will listen to you and then tune your bike to the way you ride and the way you load it. A good shop will work with you to get it right as their reputation depends on it . Sending components away to somebody in another state or another part of your state makes it very hard to tune over the telephone. Talk to the local riders about who is “the suspension guy” and then go talk to them about what you want and need.
  16. You should measure from the bottom of the fork tube not the bottom of the fork seal. Do this with the wheel off the ground. I got a total length of 150 mm so 137 mm down or 13 mm up for the mark.
  17. If you are a Dave Moss fan then you have about as good of info as there is. The label inside the paneers says not to ride above 80 mph. This maybe why that label is there because they introduced instability above that speed. As I ride without the planners most of the time on the weekends I have not found any instability problems. Only one trip with planners and loaded with two extra bags. No instability problems, but that probably is because I have a self imposed speed limit of 80 mph on street riding. Will do some testing in the next week or so to see if I can fine some instability. So much for the 80 mph rule, but it will be in the pursuit of science.
  18. Have you done a test ride without the panniers to see if there is any difference? In some cases the panniers will cause this at high speeds. From what you have said the shock spring is too Soft and you need to Change it to something that is appropriate for the weight that you’re carrying. At that much preload I would not be surprised if there is no free sag in the rear which is not good. As you are in Ohio and I am in Calif. I would suggest finding a local suspension, chassis guy who works with a lot of the local racers to help you sort this out.
  19. The 10 weight oil over the 5 weight oil in the forks as well as the higher oil level has to do with dampening Bottoming and that is another conversation. Some of the instability issues maybe due to the rear total sag being much greater than the front total sag. If moving forward Or laying forward stops it then sag measuresments should be checked. Getting the bike flat and balanced will make a difference. Especially when loaded.
  20. Forgot to mention I also changed the fork oil to 10 weight. And raised the oil level to150 mm from the 175 mm recommend in the manual. This is the cheapest way to go instead of a revalue. (200 lbs. ready to ride).
  21. When I first got this bike it felt very light in the front and found it did move around a bit at speed. I have raised the forks 8 mm above the triple tree to put more weight on the front. This also helps with turn in. Bike feels rock solid now at any speed.
  22. The GT lever has tang for the cc switch.
  23. What BBB said. I also have the ASV levers, top quality. Make sure you order the Tracer GT clutch lever as the FZ09, MT09, FJ09 (bikes without cruse control) lever will not work because of the cruse control switch.
  24. Do you have to be a Subscribere To get these articles. As I can not get access to them on my iPad?
  25. The change to HH pads made the biggest difference. I would start there and then the SS lines. If that does not do it for you changing to a r1 master cylinder will give that sport bike feel that some of us are looking for. So my recommendation is one step at a time starting with the HH pads and the proceed from there if that does not give you what you are looking for. Does any one know where I can buy a set of the spacers for the 320mm rotor replacement?
