  1. Speaking the GT, the reason 1st to 2nd to 3rd is clunky is because of the gap between the ratios gets less as you go up the gearbox: 1st - 2.667 2nd - 2.000 3rd - 1.619 4th - 1.381 5th - 1.190 6th - 1.037 The smaller the gap between ratios the less difference between relative engine speed = less clunk.
  2. That is exciting - fly and buy. Have a fun weekend.
  3. At least that trip data is available on most GPSs. I too find that stuff interesting. Even on a big day(s) of riding, I am amazed how much time stopped versus time moving. You think you have been on it all day giving it some welly, and it appears that you have been lounging around. Vince PS: @wordsmith threw in that Pommy reference for you. Work with Brits in the oil fields and like this term as the immediate answer to all problems - "give it some welly".
  4. I am guessing that is where he has it set for RPM and it equals 127km/h. You can go into the settings and adjust it.
  5. Frank, well done and sorry for this thread going off topic. See if you can spend all the purchase savings you made through research and get it directed to those mods.
  6. I would say no. I have more run out than that on one of my older bikes (1985) and it is per spec. The video showing the left disk to fork gap looks pretty good. The video screw driver to rim - just because there is a high spot of the wheel casting does not mean it is out of true. Hopefully someone on here who is actually qualified to comment will give better advice - not some shade tree wannabe like me
  7. You have the spectrum of road riding covered - Harley and FJ. Well done.
  8. @jdavis the rain came because you added the beak - duck to water ...
  9. @I’m GPS The rears work as well and do not hit the cases. The rears have the blinker, red running light and the red become darker when you apply the brake. On the GT you do need to tap into both the brake wire and red running light / park light to get the matching rears to work full function. I followed some advice on this site and used a new plug and play flasher that negates the use of the resistors and the same manufacturer has small adapter wiring harnesses so you do not need to chop the OEM harness. Relay: TST Industries | Gen2 LED Flasher Signal Relay Fix your bike's hyperflash or no flash problem with an easy to install, direct... Harness: TST Industries | Yamaha Harness Converter Don't cut any wires! Use TST Industries Yamaha Wire Harness Converter... Vince
  10. Images of the 2020? Sorry to divert the thread. @Bimbim18 : I've seen pics of the 2020 tracer. I'm not as fond of it vs the 2019, but have not yet seen what improvements over the '19 there are so not sure to expect.
  11. I purchased the Powelet jacket liner, gloves and bluetooth controller about 6 years ago and like that setup. Their current jacket looks unchanged but the controller is a wrist worn thing now. I like the original controller. What i have: RapidFIRe Heated Jacket Liner-Medium w/ 3 Position Wired Controller - Powerlet Products Heated Liners And Vests Controller: Dual Wireless Temperature Remote - Replacement Only - Powerlet Products Heated Clothing Temperature Controllers and the glove liner. I have been very happy with it. Whatever you buy, size it snug, as it has to be close to the skin - I use a long sleeve base layer and then this.

    Calne bike show

@BBB thanks for sharing - very nice.
  13. I do not like it either, but if a condo association or home owners association can regulate what your letterbox looks like or the colors you can paint you home, then not much of a stretch to ban bikes. I suspect if you were a home owner with a bike when they introduced this rule you may have had something to say.
  14. Reference adapter for front wheel - I think a 14mm allen wrench - someone else on this forum posted that they use a bolt with a 14mm head, lock two nuts together on the shaft of the bolt and use that. I have a 14mm allen wrench, but it is too large to carry on the bike, so I use a 14mm headed bolt as described above to carry on the bike.
  15. I do not think the word "cosmetic" has any relationship with "tire". Will the likelihood of the tire getting a date improve with the three lines? At a minimum they need to add lipstick!
  16. Quite a few Ducati Diavel styling cues in there. I hope it is successful for Triumph - I am sure it will appeal to the bigger is better crowd
  17. 13 riders from the Mid Atlantic Ducati Club did a great ride in West Virginia last weekend. Ton of fun.
  18. Hi, I have an old tank bag that I had on a Ducati ST3 and it has been sitting in a storage bin for 8 years. Fits the Tracer. Its the type that has the quick release bracket that screws to the tank filler. I will sell it for a $25 donation to this website + shipping. Has some wear and tear but very serviceable. PM me. Vince PS: Heading into WV for the weekend riding, so do not expect a quick response!
  19. Gravel does not bother me too much. The dirt roads here are pretty good - in the dry!
  20. @nhchris will not make Mt Equinox, but have done Mt Washington on a bike, in July, swimming in a river at the base and 35 F at the top. A great day.
  21. The routes I used. If you want the .pdf and .gpx files PM me and I will email.
  22. I loaded up the Tracer in the pickup and drove up to Bristol VT, near Burlington on Lake Champlain. It was about a 515 mile drive and I wanted to knock it out rather than ride the bike. This is the first time in almost 40 years of road riding, where I have trailered/trucked to start a ride (not including dirt biking). I am using Bristol VT as a base and using a RoadRunner magazine cloverleaf ride. For those not familiar, RoadRunner comes out every two months and always has a “cloverleaf” ride where you base yourself in one place and they have four loop rides – usually planned as day trips each. I have done two of the loops in a day (they average a little over 200 miles each) and one each on the other days. The magazine also gives you the .gpx files – which I have been using. I have ventured out on roads that look interesting as well. Lake Champlain is huge with VT on the east and NY state on the west. Very pretty area with rivers and streams and lots of boating and swimming. The roads could be great, but their surface condition is overall poor. I guess the hard winters here destroy the roads. VT232 running through Groton State Forrest is the worst asphalt / sealed road I have ever ridden. I was bought up on dirt roads and this road is crap – I am not sure if it frost heaves or whatever they are called, but the surface is bad! I wanted to head north for some cooler weather – it is very hot and humid in Northern VA at the moment. It has been warm in VT as well, but nice for riding. Last few days have been great. Raining this morning (Wed) and will sit it out. Should clear at lunch. I think I will try more of these RoadRunner cloverleaf rides. When I ride with the four regular guys at home, three of them like planning the routes etc, and I just have to follow along – which I like. Going out by myself I like the fact that someone has already planned it as a starting point for the adventure. Went from a 2011 Multistrada to the Tracer GT and loving it. In June 2019 I rented a 2018 Multi for a week on holidays and was worried that when I got back to the GT I would not like it – has not been the case. Only thing I miss from the ’18 Multi is the up/down quick shifter and the better suspension. The suspension is the only thing I would invest in, on this bike. PS: One dumb thing – do not leave the EZ Pass on the bike in the pickup - $36 in tolls from Arlington VA to Bristol VT on a bike that did 0 miles!
