What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?
Ride365 replied to yamaham's topic in FJ-09 Tracer 900 General Discussions
Yup.....I am loving my new KIA Forte GT with the DCT 7 speed, also fun to shift with the paddles. That car is "just sporty enough" as it handles great and can run low 6 second 0-60 times consistently, with a tune it will pull easy mid 5's and the quarter at over 100. My buddy had an Africa Twin with the DCT and he said "it's a game changer, and Honda has perfected it". -

Busa's and ZX14's are well known for being modified up to be good sport touring machines, but always a compromise and a trade off for any bike.........and the rider. The new Wings feel and handle like a sport touring bike, truly a marvelous machine for long distance mile munching in comfort and fun. -

No worries there, as it most certainly isn't an ADV bike. -
2021+ , wire cornering lights to always on?

Highly recommend not messing with any OEM wiring or disconnecting anything. -

The handling is so bad at that point, in particular for a front tire. The Michelin's I had on were not close to the belts, but the steering was so bad and had zero feel.......except for feeling like rocks. LOL -
9 gt first oil change / capacity?
Ride365 replied to T9 Jeffrey's topic in Tracer 900 GT Discussions
Replacing the crush washer is wasting a perfectly good washer, I have owned many motorcycles in my life and have never replaced one, never stripped out a pan, and never had a drop of oil leak from the bolt. Yamaha has other incorrect/insane torque ratings in the manual, and using those ratings has caused a few issues for folks. Of course in saying that......do as you wish and good luck. -
9 gt first oil change / capacity?

^^^^^THIS^^^^^ -
I have mostly run Motul 7100 full synthetic since first change, and I found everything mechanical engine noise to be less with this oil, also the shifting is butter and stays that way clear up to the change. I will admit that Belray semi syn also shifted nice and had quiet engine mechanical noise as well, but I just like that blood red oil too much. LOL Perhaps the OP should do as he mentioned, swap out the oil for regular Yamalube dino and see what happens.

That is one of the very best motorcycle oils money can buy......it aint the oil.

Must be why my buddy with a 22 can't keep up with my 20.

Yamaha USA Announces 2024 Tracer 9 GT+

Got my OEM case/rack from Revzilla, took a few weeks is all. -
I ordered my 39L Yamaha top case and rack from "the Zilla", everything came in roughly 2 weeks as the website was claiming. Worth the wait, the kit is top notch.

Brand New Bike - 1st Oil Change
Ride365 replied to Hamilton Tracer's topic in Tracer 900 GT Discussions
I am shocked the FJ9/Tracer doesn't come stock with a 530, agree that anything over 100 hp could benefit from a 530 over a 525. I am one of the lucky ones not having issue with the stock chain, I am about to hit 17K miles and the chain/sprockets still look/perform surprisingly good. -
What are we looking at?

I am in the camp and experience of.......if you are gonna own/ride a motorcycle, you sure as hell better know a thing or 2 about your motorcycle. -

OEM Heated Grips or adapt aftermarket?
Ride365 replied to ItsTracerTime's topic in FJ-09 Tech Questions
I personally have yet to find a waterproof glove, although what I do have is quite good and am bummed no longer made "imagine that". Heated gloves are too bulky for me, I like as much dexterity as possible when I ride. -
OEM Heated Grips or adapt aftermarket?
Ride365 replied to ItsTracerTime's topic in FJ-09 Tech Questions
I run grip buddies over the grips for a larger diameter, I get full heat through them surprisingly well, and they are also closed cell and don't absorb water. -
OEM Heated Grips or adapt aftermarket?
Ride365 replied to ItsTracerTime's topic in FJ-09 Tech Questions
I have used multiple vendors for heated grips on multiple bikes, and I have found that the OEM Yamaha grips which came on my 20 GT, heat quicker and more evenly than others mentioned "nice grip system as well". I like that mine can be controlled from the menu screen, and can even adjust the intensity at each level. -
That was a good review, must say I am starting to overall dig that bike. Were I to add another bike to the garage along side my Tracer, going back to an ADV machine, I'd be hard pressed to pass that up.

Anyone safety wire the oil drain bolt?

Those clean and dry Cali roads I'd have to imagine.....yeah that looks like new. -
Anyone safety wire the oil drain bolt?
Ride365 replied to sandman900's topic in FJ-09 Tech Questions
I have NEVER replaced the crush washer on a single drain bolt of any motorcycle I have owned, nor have I safety wired anything..........so far so good, but do what makes you sleep better at night. -
Indeed, my buddy's KTM 790 has amazing stock suspension. Another buddy of mine got a new Africa twin with ESA, and he had to replace all springs for his 220 pound body, now he has a 23 BMW R1250GS adventure with ESA and he say's it is PERFECT right off the assembly line.
