ogri
The initial break-in should be complete by 600 miles. Since I live in the South, I am now running Castrol Power RS Racing 4T SAE 10W-50 full synthetic oil. STUFF EVERYTHING - I'VE ALWAYS GOT MY BIKE! Guest captrob73
I preformed the first oil/filter change on my FJ at 35 miles. This was after my test ride and ride home from the dealer. The oil that drained out so full of metal it was gray. Today a changed the oil/filer at 364 miles, it was dirty but much better. I'll probably go 500 miles before I change the oil again. I find it hard to understand why Yamaha recommends the first change at 600 miles, it's a well known fact that most break-in wear happens very quickly on a new engine. at 35 miles - Yamalube 10w-40 & Yamaha filter at 364 miles - Valvoline motorcycle 10w-40 & K&N filter both dino oil

frenzy77
Hi guys. Anyone tried Lucasoil semi-synth 10w-40? I got a pretty sweet deal at my local garage, and considering that one instead of the full synth mobil.
rocky5000100
I just changed my oil today with Rotella T6 at 550 miles. I tend to side with the belief that modern engines don't really need much of a break in, so I had no problem switching to synthetic at an earlier mileage. She's quite harsh in her language????Especially when going from a gear to neutral and releasing the clutch, like it's not fully disengaging or something. sxx360
I used Rotella for break in and now I'm using Amsoil and NAPA Gold filter. On a side note this thing definitely enjoyed having its oil changed. Made it not even to 6k miles and the shifts were so notchy I couldn't stand it anymore. Changed the oil and she went back to being buttery smooth.
