Supporting Member texscottyd Posted April 16 Supporting Member Share Posted April 16 I spent the weekend at the MotoGP races in Austin, yet somehow these are my favorite photos from the entire trip… 🤷♂️
Supporting Member betoney Posted April 16 Supporting Member Share Posted April 16 @texscottyd Is that a buddy's CB1000R? Did you swap bikes and get any seat time? Impressions? I sat on one at the dealership, ergonomics seemed a bit compact to me but the fit and finish was very nice. 1 ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***

Nice horsey, sweet horsey. Don't try to get on his back horsey. Love the dumb lugs But. I don't do well at all when I ride them, never's been a good Doggy look tired You looked tired but content. So where did you stay being almost a local? It looked like it maybe had scattered showers. But otherwise the race was dry. How were the rides there and back? When the circus ripped at Indy I was already very familiar with the routes to my birth state. Went to every event. The year Val won I remember trying to beat the storm home. Normally A 3.5 hour slab ride. No decent backroads between Skokie and Indy. It rained 7 inches. Every friggin route flooded. U.S. Minnow 3 hour tour became 12.5 I was so stupid not to stop somewhere and wait it out. But as it was the roads didn't open for as long as seven days!!! However, I cannot in my heart say it's my "home" state, as I know it too well. little known fact the KKK formally developed in the Hoosier state! The hospital I was born in was developed by the Indy brotherhood to keep AM out. I'm sure you found some nice routes between houston and austin. Keep austin weird

It is a good friend’s bike, and I have ridden it several times. I personally really love the style, and it has the expected level of quality Honda fit & finish… On par with my Triumph Speed Twin, and candidly much nicer than my Gen-1 FJ (no surprise there). The ergonomics are typical sport-standard fare, although I agree it’s a bit compact for what otherwise feels like a big bike. I’m fine on it at 6’1” and 220 lbs, but feel like I’m right at the upper size limit. It works flawlessly, as you would expect. My only issue (and the owner Blake’s as well) is the relative lack of character: It’s that Honda trap of making something almost too perfect. Smooth, effortless, perfect, and… kinda boring. The FJ is crude by comparison, but it just oozes character from its pores. 2
Supporting Member texscottyd Posted April 17 Supporting Member Share Posted April 17 Hey Bret @2and3cylinders - It was a really fun trip. My friend and I hauled the bikes up from Houston in the back of my truck on Friday, and stayed at one of my ‘redneck millionaire’ friend’s places in the hills southwest of Austin. We rode back & forth to the track Saturday & Sunday, which ended up being about an hour each way. A great way to take in the MotoGP spectacle, get in some riding, and visit with good friends all in the same trip. The races were amazing, and the facilities at COTA are top-shelf. By practically bathing in SPF70 sunscreen, I managed to get through two full days in the sun without burning to a crisp. All-in-all a great experience! They ran two MotoAmerica ‘King of the Bagger’ races in conjunction with the MotoGP series because, you know, this is America after all. 😀 And while I initially wanted to hate it, the racing was amazing… I’m a fan after watching it live. I hope you’re on the mend and getting out a bit for riding season. Take care!
Supporting Member dazzler24 Posted Thursday at 07:40 AM Supporting Member Share Posted Thursday at 07:40 AM ANZAC day here today followed by a run in the country while blessed with some glorious weather. Throw in some induction roaring and it doesn't get any better. 😁 Really appreciating the difference my recent de-gronking of the clutch makes to the feel of the bike. 1 1

Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted Thursday at 06:29 PM Premium Member Share Posted Thursday at 06:29 PM Yes little things. Like being able to get out of bed in the morning without too much pain, and be able to stand long enough in front of the sink to brush your teeth... 2
