What’s a guy to do?

Hello all, I’m the proud owner of a 2017 FJ09 that
I purchased almost a year ago, and I still haven’t
purchased an exhaust system due to the fact of
the insane price involved. By the time a quality
system is purchased, and then add on a fuel
management system, you could be looking at
a price of $1500-$1700. That is just absolutely
ridiculous when all I’m looking for is just a little
deeper exhaust tone. (Heck, exhaust systems for
my Harley’s didn’t even run that much )

Now let’s fast forward a bit, I’ve read of people
cutting out the cadillac converters on their stock
exhaust systems, and some of the end results I’ve
heard on YouTube sounded just about perfect as
to what I’m looking for. Now is this a safe mod to
perform? Is a fuel management system still
required, and are there stock FJ09 exhaust
systems available that are not over priced?
Thank you for your help in advance guys.

You don't have to cut the catalytic converter out. See this thread. https://fj-09.org/thread/556/inside-fj-muffler

Also, Yoshimura and Akrapovic offer exhausts that will run fine without a flash. However any change to the exhaust flow will most likely benefit from a tune.

Each to his own, of course, and some may have more spending money than others, but I cannot for the life of me see the sense of spending $1500 to $1700 on this.

+1 - Especially when you could spend less than that amount on a complete suspension upgrade that will completely change the way the bike handles.
I have never changed the exhaust on any bike, but I have upgraded the suspension on every bike.

if you need more noise, just find a YT video of a motorcycle race and play it on your iPod in a loop. You get the glorious sound of 2-strokes or I4/V4 screaming to redline in your ears and the neighbors are none the wiser.
