  1. Its for ANYTHING that can fly up off the road and puncture the radiator, that's a quick way to ruin your day.
  2. Welcome and congrats on the new bike. "Mods" and "too crazy" don't belong together in the same sentence.😎 There is a lot of collective knowledge and opinions on what works for this bike, feel free to ask. One recommendation right away though, get a radiator guard. Your photos confirm some recent discussion here about the 2020 color, depending on the camera angle and lighting -to me- it looks dark burnt orange or a tomato red. Enjoy the new ride, its a fantastic bike.
  3. I'm not sure what you mean by 'towing'. In the photo above you can kind of see their size, they are only as strong as the bolt that attaches them to the bike. I would have no issue using them front and rear as tie-down points for hauling a bike in a pick-up.
  4. Its a relatively popular mod for the FZ/ MT but you have to disassemble the instrument panel, I didn't know that it was offered for the FJ09.
  5. I bought 3 pair for my cargo net on the rear seat.
  6. I keep these in my side bags, they connect to the battery tender SAE lead, direct to the battery. I have had to jump start a fellow riders dead bike, stuck in the middle of nowhere in NW Montana. 7. You can attach these to one of the bolts on the lower triple clamp pinch bolts as a tie down point. MOOSE RACING STRAP RING MOOSE RACING 3920-0341 STRAP RING MOOSE RACING. STRAP RINGS. Condition: New. Item...
  8. Was there any indication that it was slowly dying or did it just die out of the blue?
  9. I have Matts 'advanced' option , both fork legs have compression and rebound pistons and rebound adjustment caps and the left leg has a compression screw at the base. As great as Matts cartridges are, I have often wondered how different aftermarket cartridges would feel. I have ridden a buddys FJ with the Stoltec cartridge kit and while they are a very noticeable upgrade, Matts forks are superior. If the Ohlins cartridges are another step up from Matts forks then I would be tempted. Please keep us updated with a comparison. Since you are in Georgia, have you considered Traxxion Dynamics? Their AK-20 fork cartridges are highly regarded as some of the best available. I ordered my Penske shock from them and it is AMAZING.
  10. That was right off the interstate in Olympia. We have the 3rd highest gas tax in the nation but that only accounts for $0.50 a gallon.
  11. The important thing when getting a shock built is honest communication with the builder so they know exactly how you will be using it and can spring and valve it accordingly. Buying a prebuilt off the shelf shock like through Revzilla will definitely be an improvement but will have a generic (although probably very good) shim stack vs an 'exact' shim stack tailored to your needs. For the price, the Ohlins sounds like a great deal. My brother has that same shock on his Honda 919 and it is awesome! Do you already have fork cartridges?
  12. Just as a point of reference, my '15 still has the original battery and starts instantly hot or cold. I have never had to 'crank' the motor to get it to start. If I am not going to be riding for several weeks or prolonged winter break then it has the battery tender attached.
  13. I have not used either shock but the R3 has high and low speed compression damping and ride height adjustment. Either shock will be a SUPERB upgrade from stock. Everything I have read about the R3 lists it as a 'race' shock for the most demanding riders. The cheaper R2 might be more reasonable for aggressive street use.
  14. I went out for a ride down to Woodland/ Cougar Wa. area today. The further South I rode, the colder and more overcast it got. The horizon eventually got darker and the roads got wetter from a recent downpour. I cut the ride short by about 80 miles but still rode 275 miles.
  15. Another option for a quick charge is to use something like this direct connected to your battery tender lead. Motorcycle SAE to USB Cable Adaptor Dual USB Cell Phone Charger & Voltmeter USA The upgrade display, with soft LED blue light without glare, would not...
  16. This was less than an hour ago in Western Washington, and those prices are after the price drop a few weeks ago due to the surplus.
  17. On my last chain install, I added a little to much tension and the flare actually split. I had to order a replacement master link.☚ī¸
  18. I agree with @BBB on not direct wiring to the battery unless you also add an inline switch. There are several 12v 'switched' leads available.
  19. +1 You cant beat Sprocket Center for service and their SuperLite sprockets last forever. 👍
  20. Cool! Glad to hear it is all fixed and working properly for you now. Time to ride.👍
  21. What was the solution? Last time you posted the ABS light was on and the speedo was malfunctioning.
  22. I really like the Sport, I have followed it for many years, unfortunately it was never offered in the USA.
  23. It really makes you appreciate the freedom of riding. Our restrictions eased up a bit last week, we had phenomenal weather and I rode a bit over 1200 miles in 4 days.
  24. As much as I love the FJR, I would like to see a fresh redesign with a weight loss and lower CG, like Honda did with their newest Goldwing.
