  1. When you're sitting on it, no one can see it anyway. As long as its comfortable.
  2. I may be wrong, but I 'believe' that particular side mount exhaust is only available from Japan?
  3. While I agree it looks good, one of the things I like about this bike is its uniqueness. A good percentage of bikes have a side mount canister, having ours tucked away and unobtrusive makes it stand out from the pack just a bit more. 👍
  4. Ha- I agree. I have +2 on the rear sprocket so mine revs quicker and personal preference is riding above 5k rpm so fuel economy isn't high on my priority list. On several road trips in higher temperatures and at higher elevations, I have seen a fuel average as high as 51mpg even with quite spirited riding.
  5. @dazzler24 - Glad to hear that you made it through the install but sorry to hear that it was such a pain. All you have left to do is a brake bleed and test ride. 😎👍 I was unaware that the HEL lines have adjustable banjo fittings, as you found out, that feature is VERY beneficial for a perfect fit.
  6. EXACTLY,- just like electric windows in any vehicle.
  7. I don't understand Yamaha's styling or component choice on these. They all have LED headlights and inverted forks except the MT07 and they all have different instrument screens with the 03 and 10 looking the nicest and 09 being the worst by far. Some of them have a small sport screen but the 09 looks completely unfinished. Why is the 09 the only one with the ugly license plate holder attached to the rear wheel? I don't like the gauge placement on the 07, you have to remove it to adjust the handlebars. I actually like the overall styling on the 03 the best.
  8. I hope you have better luck with timely shipping than I have. I ordered the Speedo Angels nano-glass screen protector almost a month ago from the U.K. They have been very helpful but there has been issues with deliveries. Here was their response. Hi Brian, We are sorry to hear that your order has not yet arrived. As I am sure you are aware, the global situation with Coronavirus has had a very large impact on businesses. This also includes delivery companies who have many staff off sick or who cannot work. Normally your item would have arrived by now. We have been speaking with the delivery companies and they have told us that we have to inform customers that there will be delays, but they are trying to deliver items as quickly as possible. We please ask that you allow some more time for the delivery and of course, if your item does not arrive we can send you a replacement item or we can refund you. Can you please allow an extra 10 days and let us know if your item has still not arrived, then we will help you. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Regards Matt - Speedo Angels
  9. You can buy the parts to convert one but the "touring Edition" model itself is only available in Europe as is the SP model. Still, I don't see how they can call it a Touring Edition with a straight face when it gets such horrible fuel economy.
  10. It sounds like the 7-line option could be a pain in the ass! The mounting blocks remove from the frame or bracket, once loose it 'might' move enough to get a line wrench in there. Fortunately with the 5-line setup, 100% of the old system, (rubber lines, mount blocks and hard lines) all went in the trash, so I just cut it all out since I didn't have to worry about reusing any of it.
  11. I really like that MT10 SP with the electronic suspension. I don't like the blue wheels but the silver body work and that massive aluminum swingarm look nice.
  12. @com3 - Hopefully replacing the TPS fixes the issue for you, I was just reading this morning on FZ09.org of someone with the same issue changing the TPS and the issue was resolved for them.
  13. Yes, the fact that they planned a vacation around, and traveled to a different continent to experience this 'cultural phenomenon' was so interesting to me. To Harley's credit, irrelevant of their product, they have managed to capture the attention (and $$$) of ordinary people (non-riders) on every corner of the planet, equally engrained in modern culture as Coca Cola or Star Wars.
  14. Maybe not directly related but a similar type observation. Last summer a buddy and I took a 10-day road trip through Utah and Colorado, when stopping at roadside cafe's or vista point lookouts, we came across many groups of European tourists on rental Harleys. They were completely enamored with the 'culture' and 'lifestyle', dressed head to toe in Harley swag and claiming the high point of their vacation, which they had saved for and planned out for years, was being able to ride a Harley.
  15. Are there just none available right now or they wont sell the GT version in your country? If not, the dealer can't/won't request one?
  16. @wordsmith - The factory brake lines between either the caliper and the ABS pump or the master cylinder and ABS pump are rubber coated lines that mate into a junction block where they turn into a steel hard line. The aftermarket (most) kits eliminate the junction block and the 2 different types of lines and replace it with a one piece line from one end to the other. 5-line kit: 1-ABS pump to rear caliper, 2-ABS pump to rear master cylinder, 3-ABS pump to front left caliper, 4-ABS pump to front master cylinder and 5-cross over line from left to right caliper. Apparently there are some kits that use a 7-line configuration, once @dazzler24 reads through his instructions I'm sure he will chime in here and inform us all on what the difference is.
  17. @dazzler24 - Does the new 7-line kit reuse those mounting blocks or does it come with new ones? From the photos you had posted it looks like the new lines have some sort of square block on them. If that is the case you can cut the old line off and throw it away instead of disassembling each piece.
  18. If you get a chance, I would love to hear a direct comparison between the FJ09 and MT10 - besides the obvious power increase. I have a riding buddy that also has a FJ09 and is enamored with the thought of 'upgrading' to the CP4. Interested in thoughts of weight, width, handling, nimbleness, is it worthwhile?, overkill? etc. Thanks, Brian
  19. I bought a smaller bottle 8oz. (250ml) and still have some left over. You shouldn't need to individually drain both the reservoirs and the calipers, if you drain from the calipers it will automatically empty the reservoirs, just like flushing the fluid. When you get everything back together, you will need to suck fluid through the system with a pump like a Mity-Vac and then bleed out air like your normally would. And then like @carey suggested above, ride on soft ground and activate the ABS front and back a few times and then bleed it again.
  20. If you aren't comfortable doing it you could also go to a local upholstery shop (assuming there are any still open) I'm sure they could have it done in 20-30 minutes, but if you already have the staple gun it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
  21. I have used the Seat Concepts seat(s) and they are a definite improvement - just not a drastic improvement. 🤷‍♀️ For the FJ09 they offer the standard 'comfort' seat and also a taller 'sport touring' version, I tried both and liked the ST version better but the Tracer/GT is only offered in the standard 'comfort' version. The Seat Concepts products are a simple, relatively cheap and effective solution and very good quality. That being said, I am VERY picky, I ended up getting a custom seat built from a local seat builder and still went back 3 more times to get it tweaked and fine tuned to my liking. That's one of the benefits of a custom seat, the owners policy is "if you don't like it, bring it back and we will adjust it for free". If you aren't as picky as I am, the Seat Concepts seats are a great upgrade for the price.
  22. Yes, I cut the original metal lines in half and removed them out each end. With them out of the way, the new lines slid right in with no issue.
  23. I was more thinking about others reading this in preparation to change out their lines, I just didn't want the impression to be that those extra steps were in any way necessary to slide the new lines through.
  24. It seems quite scarce, there are posts on here from 3 years ago claiming it should be released 'soon'. 🤷‍♀️ The only place I could even find it listed was in Europe. PUIG Electronic regulation system (E.R.S) for touring screen Yamaha MT-09 TRACER & TRACER GT 2018 to 2019 ref 3622 - Silverstone Motor Improve your riding comfort with this PUIG Screen Electronic Lifting...
  25. I also read the FZ09.org forum daily and there are a few posts with similar issues, either decelerating and the rpms surge or coming to a stop and the bike dying. The popular belief is a faulty TPS. Coincidentally, the same happened with my truck (5-speed) not too long ago, come to a stop light and the rpm would fluctuate +/- 500rpm above or below normal idle. Swapped the TPS and it idles smooth as silk now.
