  1. I don't have my shop manual handy but look at where the coolant goes into the block, if it goes to the radiator with out passing through the head I wouldn't worry about it. If it goes to the head clean up the old one and use it. I would not want to restrict flow to the head.
  2. @betoneyI agree with you on the 9GT great bike but between the side cases and the rest the bike doesn't move me in the way the FJ-GT does. If the insurance company does total her have you thought about buying her back if the price is right? Then you could throw all the good stuff on a GT and have candy apple red GT, with a lot of stuff to part out.
  3. That sucks man, I hope your not in more pain tomorrow. Always seams that couple of blocks from home is the most dangerous!
  4. I just pulled two new NGK Iridium plugs out of unopened boxes for my XR1200 and one of the plugs screw on terminal nut was striped out and loose in the box. I kind of wonder if they where knock offs as I have never had a problem with NGK plugs. I think I bought them on Amazon a year or so ago, should have checked them before putting them in the parts shelfโ˜น๏ธ
  5. Congratulations on losing the boat anchor,๐Ÿ™‚ your going to love the FJ. Lots of choices on the parts your looking for, I would look at eBay if you want used.
  6. Sorry to hear that Yamaha pulled the plug on the Niken, I have never actually seen one on the road though only on dealers floors. The local Yamaha dealership where I use to live had a demo and tried very hard to get people to test ride it, but I don't think they had much luck. I hope they just shut production for a year and stuff the new 9GT engine in it.
  7. For sure sweating or condensation is a problem, I use to aim it at my wife's car and heat that mass up and then get some fresh air in. I had a sweating problem with just the snow, ice and salt coming in on the car. Just couldn't get the wife to clean her car off before she parked it, go figure. I still have the same sweating problem in Florida with the stinking humidity and salt air.
  8. That's it, mine was a Mister Sun or something like that. I had it for 31 years and worked good as new and gave it away when I was sentenced to Florida for life. Once I got the Garage heated up I used a 220v ceramic heater on low to maintain the temp. Nice riding weather today 74F and sunny only problem was not a curve worth shit to be found.
  9. @WintersdarkI had a radiant propane heater that bolted to the top of a 5 gallon propane tank. Worked great and heated up a 3 car garage, it would bring the temp up from 30F to 60F in no time. The only problems are condensation from the heat change and watching Co2 levels if your shop is really air tight.
  10. Look at Roadracing world magazine @1moreroad still a lot of ads for roadrace leather and boot repair.
  11. I'm more than happy with the 3D printed cell phone holder that was making the rounds on the site a few months ago. First and only 3D printed thing I have ever got my greasy little hands on๐Ÿ™‚
  12. I think Aerostich is in a league of there own when it comes to this.
  13. You trying to take the virgin out of the new set of knee pucks Santa left in your stocking? ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. Take a look at the Penske 8900 series for the FJ09.
  15. I traded in my 2014 BMW S1000rr (by far the most amazing bike I ever owned) for my 2019 Tracer GT. The dealer let me test ride the S1000XR for a weekend and I could not take the vibration in the handle bars. Test rode the 900 GT for about 10mi and the rest is history, the only problem with the GT is it's lacking the candy red metallic 2015 paint.๐Ÿ™‚
  16. I have also had good luck with the Dyna-plug kit, I carry one on each bike. Spend the extra money and get the all metal one, I've found it much easier to use than the plastic one.
  17. I would think you will be able to get by with blue thread lock. Red is even better if don't mind heating up the stud come next change out.
  18. Didn't the Japanese police FJ model come with a Longer swing arm?
  19. I wonder how engine cases that are also the mounting point for the side stand are hold up to spinning? I know that's the way it is with my Pan America and I'm going to let somebody else find out๐Ÿ˜‰
  20. I have the Givi ones and they worked well at keeping the hands warm and dry. They are not inexpensive though.
  21. I would find a Cycle Gear or some other big ridding gear store near you that has a large collection of helmets. Go and try a bunch of modular helmets on with your cannula. I have seen more than one rider using them with modular helmets.
  22. I don't think you can go wrong with a 2019 or 20 900GT. My 2019 has been stone reliable and has not had an issue in 15,000 + miles other than the O-rings on the chain failing. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another one if something happened to mine, there is just something addictive about that three cylinder engine ๐Ÿ™‚
  23. TST Industries has plug and play wiring kits for your bike so you don't have to cut into your wiring harness and also look at Tripageled.com. I would stay away from Amazon Led lights, usually more trouble than they are worth.
  24. If I were you I would keep on looking, He doesn't seem to want to show a full pic of the damaged side.
  25. Welcome to the forum. Your a lucky man to have the the FJ-09 and the great roads of Tennessee to have fun on! ,
