  1. Congratulations on your FJ, I really like the bike in white. I'm sure you are going to love it. Enjoy!
  2. I have been spending some time riding and getting to know the Pan America and I'm really enjoying the bike. I tried out the adaptive ride height and it is pretty awesome. One of my nit picks with the bike is the heat that comes of the rear header will stopped in traffic, with the bike in the lowered position my leg is far enough from the header that it's not an issue. The lowered height is going to be great with a passenger and full baggage. Nothing worse than having your foot slip out from under you while parking because your on tippy toes trying to push it. I wish the bike had a USB port in the cockpit. REALLY NO EXCUSE for there not being one in a new model bike in todays world.
  3. Give it a little time, I think the excitement will wear off and dealers be happy to get list. The place I got mine from had a sign up by the front door telling you how low the supply of motorcycles is. That is part of HD's plan to make their brand more elite. One thing HD has done right is make the price for the accessories well under what BMW wants for theirs.
  4. From what I was told by two dealers the Bronx is not really scraped, they are really putting the effort into getting the Pan America out. I first saw the Bronx and the Pan-American at the NY cycle show in 2019 the Bronx looked really sharp and I'm kind amazed they did the PA first when the Sportster is on it's death bed.
  5. Hard to believe SW Motech didn't punch a hole into it for the drain bolt. They had one in the plate I put on my KLR650 and it's easy to take the pan off for an oil change, which I do to save the clean up and look for other problems.
  6. I have to say I’m riding with a pair of Kilm textile riding paints so that may help with the heat. You have to remember With a V-twin you are sitting almost on top of the rear cylinder and pipe so there is going to be a lot more heat than an in line engine. ADV bikes are not sport bikes with 17” inch front wheels. The Pan America or any ADV bike is not going to be in the same league as the Tracer is as far as overall handling. I also have no plan on selling my GT, but I will not ride it off the pavement.
  7. So here is a little update on my the Pan America, the bike does not have the spoke wheels that it should have and was in the contract. The dealer did the set up and had the bike on a raised platform on the show room floor when I got there. It took me to tell them about it. The first thing they wanted to do was refund the cost of the wire wheel upgrade $500.00, I said no way, order me a new bike with the spoke wheels. The salesman comes back with the manager and I tell him that the price of the spoke wheels is a bargain and if the bike does not have them it will hurt the resale value of it. They said they will be right back, 45 minutes later they said the next bike that comes in with wire wheels they will give me those and take my mags. I think they are going to order the wire wheels, the free floating rotors and bearings with spacers and put them on. I will offer to do the job for them if they give me the mags for a couple of hundred bucks🙂 so see what happens when the time comes. I have a feeling the T-Shirt company is not shipping bikes to the dealer till they sell the one they have, doesn't look good to have a bunch sitting on the showroom floor. They really wanted me to take the bike. So here goes 1. The seat is the most comfortable stock or aftermarket seat I have ever had and easy to take off and on. 2. The wind screen in the down position is a little better than my 900 GT with the MRA screen with the lip on it. But in the up position it really cuts down on the buffeting. I can not really say how much better the noise is compared to the GT because I'm deaf ( just ask my wife) but I feel it's better. I don't have any problems raising or lowering it on the fly, but it doesn't feel as sturdy as it should be. 3. The Brembo brakes are great! 4. The bike is rock solid on the highway even at triple digit speeds, no problems with getting bounced around in wake turbulence off 18 wheelers. 5. The side stand will get a little getting use to because toe tad is in front of the shifter. 6. Heat off the rear cylinder header is pretty bad on the leg at long traffic lights ( I live in southwest Florida) but the on the move it's fine. Unlike the Buell 1125r or my HD XR1200 you don't feel the heat that much in the crotch that leaves you with the I pissed myself feeling if you know what I mean. 7. The power really comes on strong at 4000rpm nice and mellow below. The engine kind of has a weird sound at idle, kind of like a gas powered golf cart or can filled with rocks. All the V- twins I have owned made a racket at idle. I have only put about a hundred or so miles on the bike and I have not tried to program all the ride modes up (it's set in street mode right now with the suspension locked in the up position). I'm going to go out to actually do that now. So I will let you know how that goes, The guy at the dealer didn't know too much about the system so it's time to break out the owners hand book and sweat my ass off in the garage. By the way even in street mode the bike is quick, can't wait to get it set up in sport mode.
  8. I picked the bike up yesterday afternoon, so far I like it. I will post more later having, computer problems! '
  9. I'm taking delivery of a Pan America on Saturday. Should have been two weeks ago but I walked out over the price, typical HD dealer with all the added charges and a 10% over list dealer mark-up. The Tee-shirt vendor wanted a almost $30.000 for the bike out the door. So with luck I will have a special in orange creamsicle paint job for $25,204 out the door from the same dealer.
  10. Just so you all know the new politically correct title for gas station attends is petroleum transfer engineer. I spent most of my high school years being one🙂
  11. I was able to get on the GT today and ride it for the first time in 2 months, since having surgery. The bike ran great, but I did stop at the T-shirt Company Dealer and put a $100 deposit down on a Pan America. It's the only way the local dealer will give test rides, so I have first right of refusal on the very first one the dealer gets. The GT is not going anywhere and I'm not stupid enough to buy any HD product in it's first model year.
  12. 8000mi or 12 months? Since when do spark plugs wear out at 12 month in service regardless of the miles. I will have no problem running those plugs for 36 month and 12000mi.
  13. The most important thing to me on engine break in, is to not lug it.
  14. I will usually take a micro torch or heat gun to the nuts, to soften up the thread lock before removing them. seems to work well.
  15. I live in Southwest Florida and we are just starting Lovebug season, believe me your bike looks spotless.
  16. Pit Bull stands are money well spent. All it takes is one bike falling off a cheap stand!
  17. Have you tried changing to a different brand or style of ear protectors yet? that might be better.
  18. Are you going to do the 320mm rotor upgrade @texscottyd why you have the system apart?
  19. I like that Blue as much as I like the Red and that say's a lot. great job!!
  20. I don't think the advertised weight of the 19-20 GTs included side bags. Maybe they are including the weight of the bags now and the rest of the up dates to the 21 bike could be 24kg.
  21. Do you have clearance from the front fender to the horns with the forks on full compression?
  22. I would take a real good look at the mounting pieces for the foot peg that lost it's feeler, make sure that there are no crack or stress damage. My wife no longer pulls her car into the garage, it was getting expensive taking care of the collateral damage.
  23. @Just-TimI think if you look around the forum you will find that reviews were not great on the Yamaha touring screen.
  24. @NormRI'm using a Givi Monokey plate on my Yamaha accessory rear rack for my Givi top case, without any problem.
  25. Same color as the one I had metallion. I will say I did love that bike when it ran, I just got tired of coming home on the back of a flat bed tow truck. Harley paid for 4 two truck rides for the Buell and twice I just took back on my trailer. I just got to the point I could not trust the bike.
